So if we are down 21-20 and driving with less than a minute to play in the game we not gonna punch it in and score? lol

That close of a game ? You will be flagged into submission .  Ya'll will be tired of hearing "Hold everything, there's a flag on the field " . Best have a big enough lead to leave no doubt in the final minutes.

Like wareaglefan said , that kick was right down the middle. It was unbelievable.

And let the bad officiating begin.  HHS throws a long pass and gets out of bounds. Clock keeps running and our coach gets a 15yd penalty arguing about it.

Final Wayne County. 22

           Natchez.      14

Natchez out played us most of the game.

They broke the first down chain at start. Got more chains took them twenty minutes to untangle them then had to get someone to man them out of our stands. Grass hadn’t be cut in a month, couldn’t see the numbers. They had eight people in the stands on the home side. Game constantly being stopped to talk to their coach who was constantly on the field.

Anyway we coming home with a playoff Bert and Natchez and their bush league operation is home again for the post season

As they say there is no such thing as an ugly win.

Officials didn't cost us the game, but my gosh are they bad. They didn't know the rules about half the distance to the goal or any of that type stuff.

Brookhaven is going to be trouble for someone in region four come playoff time and anyone going to their place in round two is going to be fighting an uphill battle

Updated Region 3-5A standings:

West Jones 4-0 (6-1 overall).  Clinched Playoff Spot

Wayne County 4-0 (6-2 overall with the losses being covid forfeits).  Clinched Playoff Spot

Laurel 3-1 (4-4 overall. 1 win via covid forfeit).

Hattiesburg 3-1 (3-5 overall)

Brookhaven 2-2 (4-4 overall)

Natchez 0- 4 (3-5 overall)  Eliminated from Playoff Contention

South Jones 0-4 (2-5 overall)  Eliminated from Playoff Contention

Florence 0-4 (2-6 overall) Eliminated from Playoff Contention

West Jones - On cruise control right now.  Starting defense has allowed 27 points all season (all in the first game vs Madison Central). Overall opponents have scored a total of 36 points.  Remaining games host Laurel, at Hattiesburg, at Wayne County.

Wayne County - 2 consecutive struggle wins.  But wins are wins.  Remaining games host Hattiesburg, at Laurel, host West Jones.

Laurel - despite being 3-1 in division they are in a precarious spot.  Remaining schedule is brutal.  At West Jones, Host Wayne County, Host Hattiesburg.  The loss is to Brookhaven.  They hope to avoid any sort of record tie with Brookhaven and Hattiesburg.

Hattiesburg - same situation as Laurel.  The remaining games are at Wayne County, host West Jones then then at Laurel. They would like to avoid any sort of 3-way record tie with Laurel and Brookhaven.

Brookhaven - In a better spot than the record suggests.  Easiest schedule in the district coming up (host Florence, host South Jones, at Natchez).  Holds all the tie breakers currently against both Laurel and Hattiesburg. They are in the playoffs if they win out.  Might even be able to lose a game and still get in.

Natchez - HAHAHAHAHAHA.  Biggest pre-season trash talkers in the state now see their season end with 3 weeks left.

South Jones - looking forward to playing Florence

Florence - Please make the hurting stop.

Either 27 or 26 -14

At one point late in the fourth Hattiesburg had the ball on the Brookhaven one yard line trailing  20-14 and couldn’t punch it in

Yep. Our qb got hurt the play before and next play was a bad snap

Hey Vott, how concerned are you after the loss last night?

I'm concerned, but I do know we can get in if we play like we're capable of. The first half we were out of sync. Second half looked really good. Turning point was when T Wade got injured and we had the ball at the 1yd line about to take the lead and he had to sit out one play and the bad snap happened. If we take the lead I think HHS goes on to win. It's gonna be another slugfest next week with Wayne co

I think Hattiesburg can beat Wayne County.  Especially that it seems Wayne is getting worn down and tired.  Same goes for Laurel the following week.

Regardless.  The game between Laurel and Hattiesburg will decide who is in the playoffs and who is out between the two of them. I see no situation where both can make the playoffs.  At least none that will happen (like Brookhaven loosing 2 of its last 3 games).

West has steamrolled over everyone since the opening game against MC. I’m a little curious to see how they react when someone steps up and challenges them. Sometimes beating teams like they have lulls you to sleep.

I feel like WJ will be challenged by Laurel WC and Hattiesburg at some point. Now they may win each game going away but it won't be a surprise if they got a wake up call and was in a close game
