laurels defense is not good.  They are big. But not athletic big.  Flabby big.  And slow.  And they look confused just running around.  Like they aren’t being coached. They they do not wrap up on tackles.  
 

But their defense is better than their kick coverage. 
 

Florence did nothing fancy.  They lined up mostly with 2 in backfield. Sometimes 3.  The o line shifts a lot and 9.5 times out of 10 they run to that side. They play their assignments and don’t shoot them selves in the foot. The rb is tall, athletic, and fast. Spins a lot. Laurel never brought him down with 1 tackler. 
 

laurel looked unmotivated all game.  On 3 drives they lined up with that huge line and it’s ran behind their 2 future d1 linemen down the field. The rest of the time they were hit in the backfield. 3 of the o line pass the eye test. They big. But the Florence d line was off at the snap and passed them before they could react.

Thanks for the recap Merlin .  I didn’t realize the game was at Florence.  The website where I saw the schedule had it at Laurel.  Oh well.  The Wayne County-Florence game will be one to watch for sure.

I know it's only one region game in, but Florence has already put themselves in a great spot to make the playoffs. They still have WC Hattiesburg and WJ but after that they should run the table and beat Natchez South Jones and Brookhaven.  After thumping Meridian like they did and beating Diberville, Laurel has really hit the skids.

Meridian handed Laurel that game. 6 turnovers. 2 were pick 6 and 3 were on meridians side of the field. Laurel scored all their points off the turnovers and short field. 
 

And in what is supposed to be a down year for d’iberville they went for 2 and failed and lost by 1.  It’s not like Laurel just beat them down.

My plan was to watch this game between the bricks, there was one minor problem. There was no game between the bricks. I just went with this thread title and planned it.  After a lunch meeting in Laurel with my buddies one asked me what I was doing that evening I told 

them to the game and they said there was no game there tonight. They were right. So I went and visited with my brother for a few hours and it was better than any game could have ever been. Then I headed out.

Any way Laurel lost.Good.  No defense.
