Dawg83
Not much in terms of high profile big games this week, but several under the radar types that could be really entertaining. Bama at Texas will be the game with the most hype, but I’m not expecting it to be competitive. I expect Bama to make a big statement in Austin. State at Arizona is the one with the most interest in-state. I thought State was generally impressive against Memphis, Arizona also looked good at San Diego State. The last line I’m seeing is State as about a 10 point favorite. This has the makings of a potentially weird one given the 10 pm central kickoff time and long road trip to the desert. I think I like State to win but I would not put money on this game. Could easily see it being close or lopsided, and there’s a pathway to an Arizona win if State is really sloppy. Ole Miss is playing Central Arkansas, not a whole to say there. Don’t see any real challenges for OM until maybe Kentucky in Week 5. South Carolina at Arkansas is semi-interesting. I think it would be more compelling if it were in Columbia, but in Fayetteville I’m expecting the Hogs to win. Tennessee at Pitt may be the most entertaining game of the day. I’m actually pretty high on the Vols this year, Hendon Hooker is really good. Give me Tennessee on the road. Kentucky at Florida, in Gainesville I like the Gators to get another big win. Richardson is just so dynamic. In two weeks I think we are trending toward an interesting Tennessee vs Florida game for the first time in forever. App State at A&M is a sneaky challenge for the Aggies, who looked pretty flat offensively last week. I don’t think A&M will lose but I could see them getting a scare here. Mizzou at Kansas State is also somewhat interesting. I am taking K-State on their home field. Neat venue if you ever get a chance to go. Not very big but a cool atmosphere. Vandy, who is averaging like 50 points a game believe it or not, hosts a ranked Wake Forest. Upset potential? Maybe, but probably not. I’m taking Wake. Outside the SEC, Baylor at BYU should be a really good game. USC at Stanford is intriguing just because it’s the first test for the new look USC, who is suddenly the PAC 12’s last big hope and it’s only Week 2. Dawg83
There is apparently way more interest in Arch Manning on this board than the weekend slate. Lol
pancho
Ole Miss is playing a nobody and most will be snoozing by the 10pm kickoff out in AZ
rebmus
83, I like these weekly topics- keep it up. I'll add another OOC game that's tonight... Louisville @ UCF, Plumlee is the QB for UCF. It's tied 7-7 early on, could be a good one to watch. OM SHOULD be a snoozefest, but I've seen OM mess up "easy" games like this too often... we'll see. I'll add LSU, Auburn, and UGA to snoozefest games- should all be blowouts. I feel MSU will win and cover the 10.5 spread... but it IS a road game and Arizona did pretty well in the transfer portal. This may end up being a great game that few will watch due to the 10pm start. Many are building up the Bama @ Texas game- I figure Bama rolls early and often. South Carolina @ Arkansas should be a good one. While I like Arkansas at home, Rattler at USC may give them an edge to pull an upset or three. I like Wake Forest over Vandy BUT Vandy hosts... Vandy doesn't look horrible this year, and I'm not sold Wake is really a top 25 team. I lean Wake wins but doesn't cover the 13 point spread. Missouri @ Kansas State. Honestly, does anyone care outside of these two states? Both teams are 1-0 and I hope the fans enjoy that fact while they can. I suspect both teams will have a losing record at the end of the season. Appalachian State @ A&M. A&M wins, but I suspect a closer game than the line... I don't see A&M winning by 19. #24 UT is favored by 6 @ #17 Pitt. That's just an odd line on the surface and another example of why I dislike polls before week 5ish. I think the line is about right... UT wins by about 6. UK @ Florida. I think Florida's QB Richardson may well be special. UK's best RB is supposedly not playing tomorrow. I see Florida winning and covering the 6 point spread. rebmus
Louisville leads UCF 17-14 after three quarters tonight. The announcers have mentioned "Plumlee, former Ole Miss QB" a lot tonight. Sanogo (former Ole Miss LB) has been more impressive tonight.
MSTSatchmo
OM scores a ton tomorrow. Altmyer starting against a lesser team than Troy makes the QB situation even more uncertain. I’ve mentioned before I never feel good about State or OM going out west. I’ll say State wins if it’s not close, but if it’s close I’ll say Arizona. Bama is going to destroy Texas. UF over UK Arkansas over S Carolina Pitt over Tennessee Vandy over Wake KState over Missouri

I like Plumlee as a player, he definitely has the heart you want to see as a player. I've yet to see where he has the talent. I still wonder if Plumlee isn't another Spurlock, let him try to be a return specialist.
Dawg83
Plumlee is an A+ athlete at QB but like a D passer. You kinda know what you’re getting with him though, fun player, but has not shown that he can beat teams with his arm at all.
Bulldogs4
Plumlee has not developed his passing enough to be a good QB. Fitzgerald, to his credit, became a decent passer to become a good QB over his career. Still he is fun to watch. Last night, Gus needed to let him go more than just trying to pass from the pocket. Game picks OM by a bunch. Altmeyer is starting. That is probably the biggest story there. Who is going to be the QB? I think Vandy sneaks in a win here. Kentucky pulls off the win. UF has a letdown and Richardson will have an off game with several turnovers. Arkansas should win at home but Scar is capable of an upset here. App State shocks the world again i.e. Michigan and wins in College Station. KState over Mizzou. Pitt over Tenner. Tennessee is better but not good enough yet to win on the road against a quality team. Texas rides some early emotion to hang with Bama for a quarter but then gets blown to El Paso (48-14). While AZ is improved I like the way State played last week. I believe with a veteran team we will play well again tonight and win against AZ. I know the knock on Leach is that he has one or two WTF games each year. However, with a veteran squad I am interested to see if that problem gets alleviated this year. rebmus
Bama won, barely. All of us expected a blowout that didn't happen.

MSTSatchmo
Jimbo looks like he may be joining Orgeron and Mullen next year. Maybe they need to come up with a little more money for the players.
Bulldogs4
APP State totally dominated the LOS against 8&4eit. The score does not reflect how badly they beat them. Their TOP was 41 minutes. A dominating 3 point win. Edited September 11, 2022 by Bulldogs4

Ole Miss played an FCS team and looked pretty much like they should have overall... so I take this blowout with a bucket of salt. Special teams were outstanding. Defense was pretty close to outstanding. Other than giving up a couple of first downs on the first drive, the defense was lights out until the third string came in. They still only gave up a FG. Offense clicked well under Altmyer in the first quarter. Alt kept rubbing at his right shoulder in the second quarter, it looked like he got injured. He looked BAD in the second quarter. Dart did a good job of taking care of the ball and looked better throwing some deep balls tonight. The 3rd string offense in the 4th quarter- yikes. They went backwards 30 or more yards with penalties on the first drive. Kudos for getting a late TD for the 3rd string, but the special teams got them the ball around the 6 yard line, first and goal. I suspect Dart starts at Georgia Tech next week.

MSTSatchmo
It almost looks like State’s success running the ball early has kept the passing game from getting into a grove.

It’s an OL issue based on what I’m seeing. If you can’t block 3 guys with 5, you’re gonna have issues. Simple as that.
Bulldogs4
Weird game so far. Both picks that Rogers has thrown this year are on the receivers. Defense is playing well so far. At least after the first drive.
