“IF” he actually signs with Texas.

Arch made the right choice. The University of Texas System has an annual operating budget for all 13 of its schools totaling over 23 billion a year and the Longhorn name brand when entered into the SEC conversation will be among the strongest brands in America. Very few schools nationally have the resources of the UT System, UT Network, Name brand, history, and the like. Austin, TX has so much power in fact that the hedge fund company that has managed the finances for UT's arch-rival since 1996 is located literally 1.5 miles from the Austin campus. I'm not sure how many A&M fans are aware of that fact.

Sadly, Austin itself has become a cesspool. Once a great city, it peaked out about 2000 and has declined precipitously over the last 20+ years.
Texas football was once great as well but the team players, fans and alumni have become so entitled that I am not sure they will ever return to glory. All that money is great but with money becomes the ability to manage it correctly and leverage it to the best potential for your university. Texas forgot that being a member of a conference means you don’t act like are an Independent. I don’t particularly like that they are going to be part of the SEC. This coming from someone who likes Texas greatly as a child. In fact I was so happy when they beat Arkansas 15-14 in one of the greatest games ever played in 1969.
Unfortunately, they are nowhere close to the classy Texas I grew up with. Maybe we will see a different culture in the future but somehow I doubt it.
I hope Arch comes to his senses before he signs.

Arch doesn't have the money his grandfather, dad, or uncles have... but he's far from poor.

I understand why top recruits follow the money in almost all cases (it's been that way for a while, NIL just put it over the table instead of under the table).

Arch doesn't need any money, and his family certainly doesn't need any money to pay bills.

In Arch's case- I would think he'd want:

Be drafted first round (which will likely happen wherever he goes to college IF he live up to the hype). In his case- I'd throw this one out of the decision making.

The next three make sense to me.

1. Have a great OL, WR, and RBs... so he isn't beat to death by the defense to avoid injuries.

2. Win a national championship.

3. Win a Heisman.

IF he wants to play in the SEC under these decisions, Bama or Georgia makes the most sense.

Outside of the SEC, I think he should go with Clemson, Ohio State, or USC. (USC may make a ton of sense with Lincoln Riley the new HC).

Yea what a travesty it would be if he signed with the Longhorns and a cesspool like Austin, TX.

Could not have said it better myself.

Ole Miss is his legacy. IF he is really that good I hope he goes there. Otherwise, I can think of several other schools outside UTA where he will do very well for himself.

Wait, Ole Miss is whose legacy? Peyton's or Arch? Wait, that's right. Neither. It's fair to say the SEC as a whole is linked to the manning legacy at this point vs any one particular institution as you'll soon have no less than 3 SEC schools linked to the Mannings. Behold the cesspool.

I thought Arch was Cooper’s son. If I recall correctly, Cooper attended Ole Miss as an undergraduate student.

If that is the case, then he would be a legacy student at Ole Miss.

Nice photo of Austin. Look a bit closer and the scene might not be so pleasant. Like I said, I loved Austin in the 1980’s. Made several trips there from when I lived in DFW. It was great. Unfortunately, like a lot things in life it has changed for the worse.

I really do not care where he goes to school. Hopefully it will be where he can get the best academic education for what he wants to do in life in the event Football does not pan out.

Yes, Arch is Cooper's son.

Cooper did attend/graduate from Ole Miss. Cooper signed to play WR at Ole Miss but had a neck injury that ended his career as a player. IIRC, the neck injury was found before he played his first game.

Had Cooper been playing WR, there's a strong chance Peyton would have come to Ole Miss.

Had Cooper not been injured, it would have been 100% certain that Peyton would have gone to Ole Miss. Very unfortunate set of circumstances for him, the Manning’s and Ole Miss.

Just don’t see Arch going to Texas.

IMO, the Mannings have had years to sort of "steer" Arch Manning to Oxford. If the place means so much to them, is it that hard for us true fans to damn near expect it? The steering part, I mean. Perhaps they did, but publicly they have stated they absolutely have not. Maybe I'm wrong for feeling this way, but it is what it is. Possibly their dislike of Kiffin is just that strong, but with the way they act and talk, you might think their love of OM would override that.

The Mannings have told the truth based on my assessments. The decision to choose the Longhorns has been generally speaking organic to Arch and from what I understand, Peyton isn't the least bit upset with the choice made.

He is his Uncle so he might have some pull but mostly it would be Arch and his parents.
I could see him listening to Peyton and Eli for their opinions and such. They could certainly provide some good guidance with regard to college and NFL football.

But I digress, in the end , Peyton would have nothing to do with his decision.

I may well be wrong, but my thoughts on it:

It's Arch's decision first.

Cooper and his mom have a lot of influence obviously, but letting Arch make his own decision with some advice.

The Uncles and Grandparents give advice if asked, but don't try to influence his decision.

I wouldn't say Peyton (or Eli, Archie, Olivia, etc.) have "nothing" to do with his decision, but would agree they have little to do with his decision.
