I am in wait and see mode with Dart, admittedly. If you have high expectations for him it’s because you trust his recruiting profile and Kiffin’s track record with QB’s, which I think is reasonable. But he also has enormous shoes to fill and he’s not exactly proven at this stage.

Good pickup, just not ready to declare him Corral or Kelly 2.0.

No definitely not another Corral or Kelly at this point. I see it as a much needed depth chart move. He and Altmyer will compete for the job next season. If Altmyer can’t cut it then he’ll go somewhere else if he wants to, but I don’t see that happening.

It took Corral a season and change to mature and produce at a high level.  I expect the same will be true for Dart.  Of course Corral didn’t have the opportunity to be coached by Kiffin from the start.

However, we’ve seen young QBs excel from the start at places like Bama, Ohio State, and Oklahoma.  They had plenty of weapons around them to make that possible.  Kiffin has done a great job of putting talent all around the QB from skill position players to the OL.  He has even brought in some defensive transfers that should help immediately.

Malik Heath transferring from State to Ole Miss. LOL.

Interesting move. Talented guy with some explosiveness, but super inconsistent when he was in Starkville.

Im not sure how much eligibility he has left, but he was hyped to much coming into State.  A lot of it was self-hype.  Lol.

In regards to OM and transfers, I’m impressed with the defensive talent OM brought in.   That plus the RB was their biggest need in my opinion.   I think whoever Kiffin plays at QB will put up good numbers regardless.

Interesting to see this former State WR come to Ole Miss. We’ve certainly entered a new era. 😂

Ole Miss will field a completely different team next year, but at least it won’t be an inexperienced team. Just a hodgepodge of other team’s former top recruits. Really strange actually. I think Ole Miss is certainly setting up for a 7 or 8 win season when before it was 6 or 7. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I’m hearing some OM fans say getting Dart and Evans GUARANTEES at least 10 wins  and probably a playoff spot.

It was funny reading an article in the Daily Journal this morning about Dart.  His dad says he’s not there to be depth. He will earn the job, and the best part “he isn’t afraid of competition”.  Lol.   That’s why he’s at OM though.  He didn’t want to compete with Williams.

Those Ole Miss fans are delusional. Too many new coaches and new players.  I mean sure that would be great, but that’s setting the bar too high.

Hopefully Heath recovers from the injuries he suffered in the automobile accident. I don’t know any details but for him to have been airlifted obviously meant it was very serious and prayers for his continuing recovery.

Agree with you guys very talented but inconsistent. Hopefully he has matured and I hope he has a great season with the exception of one game…..LOL.

I think Ole Miss will be between what State was in 98-99 and 02-03. The influx of Jucos were huge in the former but backfired in the latter.

Understanding that the transfer portal is theoretically bringing in a more polished and talented player vs. a Juco player but there are some parallels there.

That said , I think Ole Miss is probably 7-8 win team with 9 if everything goes great or 6 if things unravel some. Because you just never know.

State is an interesting take. I think we will be talented and have depth but the schedule is going to be a challenge (which is okay). I think 8 wins would be the ceiling and 5 wins are the low end if things went really south. 6-7 wins are realistic predictions.

But again you just don’t know as there probably 5-6 games that you can look at as toss up type games and so much can happen between now and then.

Did anyone see the article from the Atlantic.com about recruiting and NIL?   I could only read part of it because I’m not a subscriber, but a company in Tennessee said they were expected to need $3-$5m per year for recruiting because of the new NIL rules, however they believe the number will be closer to $25m per year.   That’s what State and OM will have to compete with in the long run.

The NIL while allowing increased financial freedom within the confines of the NCAA, also has the potential to feed the "rich get richer" beast in terms of your comment relating to UM/MSU competing with programs whose spending arm is robust.
