The reality is that Hartfield, Prep, MRA, and JA have substantially greater assets and are consistently so much better than every other MAIS school. No matter if its 16, 8, or some other configuration, the Jackson schools are still going to dominate. This is really just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. The solution is obvious. The 4 Jackson schools need to abandon ship for the MHSAA. If that is the case, (and keep in mind, I do not know what the future holds for those four schools, but then again, the AISA [the Alabama Independent School Association] did lose 4 of its members to the AHSAA [Alabama High School Athletic Association]: Glenwood, Lee-Scott, Pickens Academy and Autauga Academy with the former two in the 3A classification and the latter two in the 1A classification), then utilizing the MHSAA's enrollment numbers based on 9th thru 11th grades, Prep would be a 4A school and Hartfield, JA and MRA would be in 3A. St Joe is in that group as well.
Pull-A-Roy
Is there a timetable on when all this will be resolved?

As far as I know no one school but PCS has made a move to MHSAA. Time is running out to turn in numbers, etc for MHSAA reclassification. That will be November 7 this year. 48 days +/- unless delayed by any MAIS school switching leagues or at some point you play independent for 2 years. I'm sure the MHSAA would utilize a multiplier for the private schools. Years ago, JA engaged in serious discussions about joining the MHSAA. At that time, a 1.5 multiplier was mentioned. My guess is that the multiplier would move them all up a level - so Prep would be 5A and the others 4A at current enrollment numbers.
