With Florida adding NIL for HS athletes this week, there are now 31 states with some form of NIL for HIGH SCHOOL.  Last I checked, minors usually can't enter into a legally binding contract, but that aside, what are your thoughts about MHSAA and MAIS doing something along those lines?

If it happened the MAIS schools woul be like Greenville Christian was a few years back.  And several public school powerhouses would crumble like a stale cookie. All the good players that stayed in public schools but move to those paying more would shift to the 3 coastal counties, Lamar County not including lumberton, petal, jones county (specifically west and south), rankin county, Madison county, desoto county.  All others would suddenly fall way back.  We would also likely see a string of new private schools or some that do not play football suddenly starting up.

My understanding from reading the FHSAA publication is that they can get endorsements but not monetary returns. So Nike et al, can use a HS kid to market wares... the kid gets paid for marketing,  not performance,  and whichever team he or she plays for gets the social media recognition of the particular player being associated with their team.

Booster clubs in Mississippi is about as an NIL your going to get especially in small schools with less pocket money. A lot of MAIS parents probably have more money in larger towns. And if it were to pass in Mississippi it should go to a scholarship fund for athletes.
