Pascagoula @ Picayune

Pascagoula is a much better team than Forest Hill.  With that being said, Picayune will need to start clean and fast.  The sluggish start that we had last week won't cut it a couple of weeks.  Picayune certainly doesn't need to look ahead, but we know where we will have to go in a couple of weeks once we get past Goula.  Ultimately though we really need to come out of Friday night healthy.

Exactly, i can't get 2012 out of my head. Been in there all season.

As a refresher, in 2012 Picayune went to Pascagoula in early Oct undefeated, and riding something like a 18 game winning streak and were reigning 5A state champions and just demolished Pascagouls in a televised Thursday night bright light games 49-10 at Pascagoula. 6 weeks later we went back to Pascagoula and they ended our season in round 2, 27-10.

Our team needs to FORGET the rain game we just played at Pascagoula and learn from past mistakes and be ready this Friday. I think they will.

I like Picayune's chance in this one. Especially with #6, #4, and #5 all in the line up. We was without #6 the first time around plus a monsoon was going on.

i think the monsoon probably grounded Pascagoula passing game more than it affected us but who knows. Both sides were certainly affected...but none of that matters now.

Playoffs are the time of year where you have to look ahead (be aware of what's out there) without looking ahead.  That may be tough to compartmentalize, but that's just the nature of the beast.

idk...certainly coaching staff has to look ahead, but players need to listen to the coaches and play the game in front of them one play at a time.

Goula gonna be a totally different team this Friday night. We took advantage of all their mistakes in that monsoon. I hope the team doesn't think it's gonna be cakewalk since we hung a 50 piece on them the first game. We better start fast and finish strong.

That 50 piece was soggier than day old original recipe LOL!

I don't think this game in any way resembles the 2012 rematch affair.  The game is in Picayune (should've been in 2012 as well), Picayune has more athleticism and playmakers on defense, and Pascagoula doesn't have a front seven remotely as talented as the 2012 bunch nor the playmaker and athlete Warren was at QB.

Oh, and most significantly ... Kevin Fant isn't coaching QBs and running the offense, and Chad Coleman isn't calling the defense.

I understand, but you are talking about Pascagoula. I am talking about Picayune. I am not worried about Pascagoula. if we come to play we will beat them.

But complacency in that 2012 cost us what very likely would have been a three peat. Our team was very good in 2012. particularly our o-line. unfortunately they knew it. so they laid an egg in the rematch. it is very common for a team that blows out another team to lose the rematch...at all levels of sports. this is why I mention it at all...not that I think we won't win, but that is the part that you have to watch out for. If you blow a team out you sure as hell are not going to go away from what worked so well for you the first game as you prepare for the rematch. (well you might, but it takes a strong will to make changes) And if you get blown out, you learn from it and change your preparation accordingly. that makes for a new set of dynamics.

close 1st games pose similar issues to blowouts. Gautier almost got us the 1st time around last year. so they decided they could play with us and and they could win the way they almost did the first time when we met again. But we changed our defensive approach entirely and blew them out the 2nd game. That is what standing pat does to you. again. mindset matters and you dont want to hang onto that first game.

Roll Tide Roll!

You don’t know Chad Coleman, so you need to shut your mouth, douche.

You’re a first class moron with limited reading skills if you think I was disparaging Chad Coleman.

He was an outstanding defensive football coach who fielded consistently sound defenses throughout his tenure.

Are you a dyslexic or is alzheimers or some other condition setting in ? Not everyone is out to get you.

Pascagoula could only score one TD against the sad Tigers up in Hattiesburg. The strength of their team is the defensive line but this is a bad matchup for them.  This might be a mildly competitive game if they had some kind of offense but they don't and it won't be. I wouldn't be surprised if the Tide defense doesn't outscore the Admiral offense.

This game will be over before halftime.
