Gautier @ Laurel

I think we all knew Laurel would be in the mix fighting for this thing even as bad as their record is.  Even if they win tonight, they'll still have an overall losing record.  Being district champs with a losing record is absolutely mind boggling to me, but that's the world we live in now.  Gautier won't have that coast home cooking in this one, but for the sake of sanity they need to win this one.

Gautier might be without their starting QB for the 3rd straight game. I know this sounds weird, but the offense looks more explosive with the backup playing. Maybe it’s the athleticism he brings from being a  WR, but i dunno. He doesn’t have the accuracy or the same arm strength on the deep ball as the starter but he spreads the ball around more. When the play breaks down though, he’s rarely if ever taken down by the first tackler. Defensively, Gautier has to tackle better and stop having lapses in communication in the secondary. Should be a good game. Looking forward to getting to Laurel early for something I haven’t had since I was in high school in 06, CORN DOG 7

Laurel is about the only team in the region that has the athletes to play with Gautier. Gator defense is not bad at all and the offense is a big play offense that is capable of scoring from anywhere on the field at any time. Interesting stat for the Gators, they are 6-0 vs. teams with a losing record this season. Conversely, they are 0-3 vs. teams with a winning record. Laurel sits at 4-6 so numbers say the Gators should win. Obviously, Laurel is a different animal than some of the other teams they have played. Going into Laurel in winning is a TALL task that few have managed to do. I would not be shocked for this game to be repeated in a few weeks. I will take the home team in a great battle.

Silly me. I didn’t factor in the head coaching. Anybody wanna ask High why, he didn’t let the backup Qb who led the team to 23 first half points, take another snap after half? They didn’t score again until garbage time of the 4th.

Laurel’s defense will not hold up IMO. I know if Laurel has the turnovers they did last week it will be a long night. They are big and fast but not very physical at the point of attack. From seeing both I will go with the Gators but between the bricks they better bring their A game.

I will eat crow on this one good job Laurel

I will be honest, having seen Gautier a few times this year, they look better with the backup at Quarterback than the other Irving.
