Week 2 Thread

State at Minnesota in a massive game for State. I’ve seen the spread in both teams’ favor within a point or two, so it’s basically a pick em. Major contrast of styles here. State wants to open it up and let their athletes run wild on offense. Minnesota wants to play sound defense, hold onto the ball, and force State to make mistakes. Minnesota’s strength appears to be at the LOS, so we will find out just how much improvement State made on both sides of the line. Big moment for Kamario too, first true road start and it’s  against a team that’s been good at home.

I feel like there’s such a fine line with this game for State. Win and there’s a lot of optimism moving forward. Lose and I think a lot of people will be ready to assume Lebby won’t make it to next season. I think this is a tight game but I like State’s chances here. I think they can turn it into enough of a track meet that Minnesota can’t quite keep up in. have State taking this one 31-24.

Ohio State at Texas - massive game Saturday night in Austin. Big moment for Arch Manning. But I have a little bit more confidence in the Buckeyes here. Ohio State takes it.

Oklahoma at Michigan - I have OU rolling in this one.

Arizona State at Texas A&M - maybe a crazy pick here, but I have the Sun Devils stealing one on the road here. Call me an A&M skeptic I guess.

Bama at Kentucky - dangerous game here for Bama, Lexington has turned into a weird place to play in the last decade. I’ll pick Bama but I think it’s close.

There are other interesting games too that we can discuss as well…. Ole Miss vs Charlotte isn’t one of them. The calm before the storm on September 19.

I hope MSU takes it but I think Minnesota takes it by 10

Not a fan of either but I guess I have to pull for Texas

Hope OU rolls by 35 over Michigan

Arizona State in a close one

Bama by 14

Ole Miss by 21

Ole Miss by 21? Aren’t they like a 50 point favorite? lol. What do you know that we don’t?

Charlotte is fresh off a loss to The Citadel.

Auburn favored by 32 over USM. Do they cover?

I have to admit I did not watch any of USM-Alcorn so I don’t really know what to make of USM. I assume Alcorn is still terrible though and even if I watched that game I wouldn’t have learned much.

Auburn didn’t look very good in Week 1 but I’m high on Golesh and think their offense will probably be boom or bust this year. Last week was kind of a bust, so I worry that this is a get right game for them.

32 is a big number though.

I like USM to cover the 32. I just think they will play well enough to do so. Auburn is coming off a very emotional win. I think they are in for a letdown. Auburn wins comfortably but it will not be a total blowout. 35-14.

State-Minnesota. I am clueless here. I agree with the story line that it will most likely be State’s OL against their DL/LB’s. If they are reasonably good, I like State to win 38-28. If not, it could be a long day at the Huntington Bank Office.
We will see.

Texas over Ohio State 24-23

A&M wins over AZ State 26-20

KY pulls the upset over Bama and the heat turns up on DeBoar. KY 28, Bama 24.

Oklahoma 40, Michigan 6.
Missouri 17, Kansas 15.

Utah 38, Arkansas 14

Ole Miss 40, Charlotte 10

Tennessee 34, Georgia Tech 10

LSU 20, LA Tech 14 (Officials add a second on to the clock at the end to give LSU one extra play. They score on a Hail Mary pass to win the game!!! LA Tech joins Western Michigan in a class action suit against GST (Game Saving Time).

10 years ago State was littered with stud homegrown defensive linemen. Now it’s our weakness. Stylistically we don’t match up well with Minnesota defensively unless Arnett has some secret sauce

I’m not sure what to make of Minnesota’s offense. I like several of the pieces, including the QB and RB, but they were an awful offense a year ago, and didn’t run the ball efficiently against Eastern Illinois in Week 1.

My fear would be the run the ball just well enough and can utilize their QB in play action situations, and that could give State trouble.

I too worry about State’s DL and the ability to generate pressure. I like the LB’s and secondary but if State can’t force some negative plays, Minnesota is going to try to keep the ball for 45 minutes of the game.
