I agree, but smith county doesn’t have that problem. Heidelberg did. Good schools shouldn’t be punished because of the bad ones

Bay Springs might have to go to Heidelberg again in a few weeks in the Playoffs; wonder how that will turn out.

I am not sure they can win at Wesson in round 2/3 if they finish 2/3. They 4th then a trip to Scott Central maybe they get to round 2/3.

MHSAA, school boards, admins, etc. can’t carve out exceptions because then that’s going to be seen as discriminatory against those who aren’t the exceptions & a whole new set of people will be upset. 
It’s why everyone has to carry clear bags & go through metal detectors at college ballgames. It’s why online classes have Honor Lock. A bad apple can ruin the whole bunch. And it’s really sad.

When the director spoke Monday he put what could be back on the schools before he and the council is forced to end someone's football season, make fans angrier, etc. make rules that you don't want. Except the fact that a number family three different counties can file a wrongful death if they choose. Normally you don't want the boss to make the rules when you have the opportunity to do so yourself to make the business successful.

Schools are well advised to follow the MHSAA guidelines. If they don’t, they have no leg to stand on if something goes wrong

School boards can carve out exceptions. Not everybody is doing this. The MHSAA cannot tell schools they cannot tailgate, and they didn’t tell them they couldn’t. They recommended that they don’t, but they cannot mandate it. Each school district can determine for themselves.

Right. But the thing is - if schools choose to go against MHSAA guidance and something bad does happen, there’s a whole lot of liability for the entity who chose to go against the guidance. It’s why schools forced kids to wear masks during COVID. It wasn’t a state or national mandate for children in schools… but it was the strongly suggested recommendation of the CDC & thus adopted as the MHSAA guideline that schools chose to enforce as local policy. Following that guideline gave schools basic immunity from legal exposure if bad outcomes happened.

Seems to me one would only be possibly liable if they went against a mandate, not a recommendation. I mean, schools choose to go against recommendations all the time. The CDC recommended that we allow boys in girls bathrooms but none of our schools went along with that recommendation.

And for the record, I am actually against tailgating on school property. I think too many problems can come from that. But what we do at our school is allow a handful of boosters to buy selected seating in front of the fieldhouse before the season as a fundraiser. Those boosters set up a table and they have food while they watch the game. They bring all the food from home. They don’t cook at the stadium, they don’t listen to music, they don’t have alcohol, they aren’t in the parking lot. It’s just 5 families that pay $400 before the season to watch the game from their tents with food in front of the fieldhouse where police officers are already standing. But that’s considered “tailgating”, so now we aren’t allowed to do that. And it’s all because of Heidelberg’s ignorance.

When Raleigh played them they were like 3 tents maybe and 60 people in the stands. That shouldn't mater much if you can't get fans to the game in the first place.

Your stupid. The tailgate area is always packed. Just because there is not a tent doesn’t mean people not down there.

If you go against the recommendation of MHSAA, it happens to your school then your not going to like the mandate of MHSAA.
