Was the personal foul call in the 4th where they chunked the kid from mize out called because he tried to punch out the ball?

Yes. Tried to punch the ball out and got ejected for punching. The referees definitely felt like they needed to be a big part of this game. Except it was only the ones on the PCS sideline that wanted to be involved. The two on our sideline stood there like statues and never moved the entire time. The clock operator was definitely falling asleep up in the booth. Mize recovered two fumbles in the 4th quarter that the refs gave the ball back to PCS after huddling together and nobody could determine who saw anything even though Mize had the ball and no whistle had ever blown. Phantom pass interference in the 4th quarter that came about 5 seconds after the play was over. And then of course letting the time run out on the last play of the game after our centers helmet got ripped off, when we were in chip shot field goal range was the icing on the cake. It was amateur hour, and PCS knows they had that gift wrapped for them.

I agree with all that. I think that private booster money is nice for the refs. Only time I complain about this is with these private/public schools. Just like saint joe that time we were in the end zone in the refs ear after that last play. Stolen games. Now with that said PCS is a great team.
Their fans should be mad with the blatant ref calls also because now what anyone will see looking at this game on film is Mize got screwed. Instead they should be talking about how both teams played a great game.

Sounds like yall had a couple of them D'Iberville refs. Everytime Raleigh got inside the 20 here came the yellow sankey from the home side.

It was very sad. But with all that I also think we had an awful first half. If we played first half like second half don’t think refs would have mattered. I think the MHSAA  needs to do film review on refs to determine if they need to be out there. But they won’t.

They can’t. They barely scrape by to get the refs they have now. Nobody wants to officiate games.

Maybe they need to teach sports effing, coaching, administration,  etc at the Vo- tech level. With some incentives to ref while going to College or not after graduation.  As for Mize its been how well they perform as to the outcome of the game in recent years. Not a bad group, just a string of good luck and bad luck.

Agree. The ref situation is awful. When you don’t even have enough good refs for playoffs so you’ve gotta make certain teams play their last regular season game on a Thursday night? It’s bad.

MHSAA has also been using high school kids to ref games in their own school districts - I know for sure it’s happening in soccer because I’ve seen it. That’s not okay. And other than paying better, idk what can be done about it. But something has to change.
