A fan base that has - through the years - really supported their team is Petal. And they’re on the way up again. They’ll travel well in 2025.

Apparently you didnt see any long road games last season. They traveled very well to Bilox, Terry and Picayune. Thise were the 3 longest trips. Where did you go when they had a poor showing of fans?

I could see Terry being a long road trip but Biloxi and Picayune are within an hour from Hattiesburg. I have been to Hattiesburg games and there were more band members than fans in stands. With any high school football team, if you are good people are going to follow but when you are subpar, players families are about all that are going to be in the stands.

Uhh, it wasn't luck but yes I've been to Gautier for a football game.  I'm just glad Picayune won that game, and every game they've played there.  As long as you prepare for two opponents when you make the trip there, then you've got nothing to worry about.

Do you happen to moonlight as a writer to describe homes on zillow? This is incredible. LOL

 

I have been to several Gautier games over the years and honestly do not remember seeing any tailgates or whole alligator roasting going on. I will say fan attendance and support definitely seems to have improved greatly the past few years and having a run of success will do that.

Happy to say I have not had to witness that. Hattiesburg has been there three times and 2 of those games the fans were leaving after the band performed.

Hattiesburg vs Moss Point in the 90s at both places was off the chain. I remember in 1998 Moss Point fans were already tailgating across the street from the HHS campus before school was even dismissed at 230pm.

Indeed, now it is only like that one time a year (Homecoming). Really hoping Moss Point can bring that old-school intensity back to Dantzler Stadium real soon. The tradition runs deep, and it’s time the energy on the field and in the stands rises to match the legacy. They need the right guy in there and the support.

Sorry that's not happening and it's a shame. It used to be quite the challenge to play there with Jerry on the sideline.

I remember when Picayune went to Moss Point in 2004 to open the season and we beat Moss Point at Dantzler.  That was a big deal because it was still a tough place to play even then.

I hate to say it, but I do not see Jenkins lasting more than 2 years. It is going to be an uphill battle. Losing the best playmakers off a team that did not win a game is not a great situation to take a 1st HFC position. 8th grade team did well in the D3 ranks last season but if the trend of talent transferring out of Moss Point continues, that talent will not be in a few years. Hopefully the next go round there will be better candidates for Moss Point to choose from.
