maroontide06
Well this time next week we will have a winner in this game. It should be another shootout like 3 weeks ago, but can Picayune make adjustments to slow Irving down? If anyone has any thoughts about this marquee matchup, please feel free to share them. coastfootballfanman
If Picayune stays away from costly turnovers, I think they win it. Defensively, they better make some sort of adjustments. You cannot play Gautier the same way you did two weeks ago. Truly a toss up game.
David
This game once again matches two of the most talented players in the state, along with the supporting cast on each team that makes this another classic. Which team, which coach makes the adjustments learning from their game three weeks ago to at least slow down these prolific offenses? Picayune seems to be in just a bit of a lull, or is it just playing better playoff competition? Gautier continues to score on everybody, but might have had the easier path so far. I literally don’t have a clue, and if I wasn’t watching my Ocean Springs Greyhounds, I’d definitely be driving over to Picayune. Don’t miss this game if you’re anywhere close. Archer
Irving is tough to defend whether you play man or zone. It’s pick your poison.

Our defense will definitely need to stand tall again and get after him. If we can get a takeaway or two, that will definitely help things out. Wareaglefan1us
All the talk about Guatier’s offense rightfully so. Their defense has really improved as well. The issue I saw when WC played them was discipline they had five or six unsportsmanlike penalties. The coaches saw enough and called timeout and scolded them pretty good. If they get that under control this is definitely a toss up in my opinion.

They’ve never made it to the 3rd round before, so hopefully that will work in our favor.

Well I think we knew we would see Gautier again so we knew it would wind up being a two game series with them. I think we will be ready Friday night.

If they (or their coaches) we’re going to show immaturity, it would have been there. While I’m sure the experience and the home field will both work in the Tide’s favor, I don’t think that Gautier comes in wide eyed or nervous. I’m not trying to argue with you but Marcus High definitely showed some immaturity when we played them. That won’t have any bearing with the game Friday night and Picayune won’t be wide eyed or nervous either. This is the game that Picayune wants with the opponent that Picayune wants. The Tide will be ready for this game.

The Tide will be ready for this game. Not to argue, just trying to figure out how this game will work out. Both teams know their opponent, so the nerves won’t be as big a part. Maybe that means less penalties, maybe it means a little more chipiness. There’s no doubt the coaching advantage seems to be on the side of the maroon, but as for more offensive weapons, might be for the Gators. Some would say there wasn’t much defense the last game, but Picayune had not seen such a pure passing offense. Gautier has played against several run oriented offenses. Now that the Yune coaches have seen them in person, they can make changes. Gautier knew what to expect, and couldn’t stop it. Penalties and turnovers, as usual, decide more than anything. Slight chance of rain that would hurt the passing offense. Don’t know much about the injury situation. Vegas has it even money right now, with the home field being the slightest advantage if any. I’m leaning toward the more experienced Picayune, but wouldn’t bet the boat.
Tiburon
Gautier was in a much easier bracket these playoffs. Picayune is well tested. Yune has won their last 24 games. They will do what they do best. Win and advance.
Hightide
I like that we have already played Gautier 3 weeks ago. I don't think Gautier will light up the scoreboard in this game like they did in the last.

slicklizard
This is not the biggest or most athletic that the tide has ever had. From my watching they have something you can’t coach.. They feed on and welcome adversity. I think they are on an incredible run and as good as Gautier offense is , they are not the one to break it. Gautier has a period in their games where they explode for two or three TDs then go into a long lull. Last time they played Picayune just went into the lull with them. . I can guarantee that Picayune Coach has seen this too will exploit it. They also were sending everybody to stop the run and got burnt on some swing passes. They will get burnt worse this time if they have to do that again. They did the same thing against us for the run but our passing game resembles Nebraskas trying to play from behind during the Tommy Frost days.I think this game will be already decided for most of the fourth quarter. I want to see more of #4 for Picayune taking the snap Edited November 21, 2022 by slicklizard

We got plenty of options on this year's team for sure. 20 hours ago, slicklizard said: This is not the biggest or most athletic that the tide has ever had. Tidesmanforlife
I don't know about that. Picayune can score too. #4 is a athlete for sure. We have a bunch of really good athlete also.
Tidesmanforlife
We need a safety in the middle of the field. That would help with the passing of Gautier
Vott
Worse case scenario for Gautier Friday Night. 80% chance of showers. It was proven their first game vs Provine that a passing team doesnt fare too well in wet conditions.

Hightide
Wet footballs won't be a good thing for Gautier when all you have is a passing game.

Hightide
I honestly hoped it would be good weather. Rain sleet or snow we don't need any help to smash Gautier.
