Mississippi College dropping football

Why is this happening? I remember them winning the NCAA Div II national title one season. I dont remember the players name from MC but he had a pretty successful NFL career with the Saints

I heard it was money related. Trustee was pulling funds out.

This was in one of the articles I read.

 

“Mississippi College played its final football game this past Saturday as officials have confirmed that the program is being dissolved to allow the university to dedicate resources to its other 17 sports and pursue facility upgrades.”

They will honor the players scholarships if they want to remain in school (and obviously not play football) until they graduate. 
 

I know Mitchell Butler transferred from USM to MC to play football last year so I hope he can find a home somewhere. He is a good football player.

Clinton's HS is pretty new, so unlikely

They still have track & soccer, so it will still get used.  Might have to change the turf though.

I really hate this 

 

where I went to college 

they played football from the 

early 1920’s to 1951 

 

always thought what could have been if 

they kept the program alive
