Warren Central has two losses to two of the better 7a teams in the state. Just like Hattiesburg. The only other real competitive games they had was against a really good Ridgeland team. If history shows anything… it’s to not assume. You’ll get your feelings hurt.

It’s a fair point for sure. And I think either way would be fine to determine seeding…I just think actual head to head competition and what actually happened on the field is valued more when comparing the two remaining teams.

Well I personally think using H2H makes the most sense in said scenario once Petal is determined as the #2. And trust me, I’m just as aggravated about having to rematch Brandon again as you are so I know where a bit of this is coming from lol.

I think the main point here is exactly what’s written.. it STARTS with head to head. You can’t do that in a 3 way tie scenario. So once you determine the 2 seed…you go back to what it starts with to determine the rest of the field.

Seems like they used how all teams fared against the 1 seed to figure out #2 , wether it be W/L or point differential if needed, and then used H2H to decide the remaining seeds

I haven’t watched Goula at all this year… but it seems like their non district schedule has them prepared for this part of the season. 4 of their 5 losses are to the 4 7a coast playoff teams , with another close loss to Picayune who’s always good. They’ve boat raced everyone else for the past month. Should be a good game between two hot teams.

If OS can beat Brandon and beat OG at OG they deserve to go to state at that point

Crazy how weak 5a is. West Point has hardly any real competition in both the north and south. Unless they get some extra students to move up they’ll continue to cakewalk to state titles for quite some time.

OG and Pearl play tonight. Don’t think it’s weather related. OG has played the last game of the regular season on Thursday several times in the past.

No clue. You can’t transfer at this point in the year anyway though. At least not to play football.

I know they were missing a couple of guys in the secondary including the dandy dozen DB. Hard for me to sympathize with that though after all the guys we’ve been missing at some point this season.

Brandon is talented but we probably have played 3-4 teams better than them this season and I can’t say that very often. But OG also plays championship level defense at full strength. The offense needs to pick up the pace if they want to make a deep run next month.

Actually as far as I can tell… the Neville game was the first and only full strength game OG had played. They still were without a starting safety against Meridian (#6) Apparently Brandon has a bunch of skill guys going both ways. They dont have a lot of quality depth there.

Weird year for OG. One week they have everyone healthy and/or not suspended and look like a 7a front runner. The next week they’re starting freshman and sophomores on defense and look average. I think they’re a notch better than Brandon when both play their A game but it’s a very inconsistent group this year.

Exactly. This is the year to beat OG if you’re gonna do it. Most of those kids are juniors and sophomores.

Boyles never beat Causey during his Meridian stint and he also lost the previous south state matchup before he left Petal. But I enjoy the over reactions nonetheless. Petal played a great game and deserved to finally get over the hump vs OG.
