  1. There was more to that transfer than just choosing Hattiesburg. His connection with Hattiesburg area based 7v7 coach/trainer C.J. Bailey (coupled with Bailey's friendship with Hattiesburg staff - especially Tony Vance) played a major role in that. Barnett was shopping around with Gulfport and Ocean Springs prior to making that move but when it was made clear Harrison Central would press the issue of his transfer to either of those schools, he had to look north. That said, Hattiesburg year in and out will have players to compete. The school district is solid. Pay is highly competitive. It is a good job and I do not see how anyone could say otherwise without personal bias/dislike toward the program
  2. Is there any chance either of the Coordinators get a shot? Archie Gibbs is supposed to be one of the best young coaches in the state and Randy Craft has HFC experience and has done a good job with the Hattiesburg defense since coming over from Natchez.
  3. Dillon Mitchell from Choctaw County is a name I would keep an eye on for the Starkville job.
  4. Only two names off the top of my head to draw that hype would be Tyrone Shorter or Teddy Young.
  5. Many would argue that was more attributed to having a super talented roster more so than culture
  6. I was told King, French, and Lollar have all 3 put in. Also hearing DC from Biloxi Eric Collier is a name to watch due to connection to admin. at George County.
  7. I was told over the weekend he was the front runner. His resume was too good to pass up.
  8. What is the deal with Jones and Starkville? He has been really good for them since he got there.
  9. What I find crazy is the ruling the judge ruled against allowed transfers to go 1 time and wherever and not sit out, but a second transfer as an undergrad you would have to sit out. That to me, is fair.
  10. His handler has him searching for more $$$. He settled fine at Nebraska. Was their lead back. Money play. Plain and simple. Too many of these kids have folks in their corner giving bad advice. I guess as long as he is on track for a degree, it is not a problem.
  11. I agree but he has almost no chance of competing for a state title. He could absolutely do that with Hattiesburg.
  12. I don’t know how much interest he would have, but a guy like Russell Mitchell could do great things I believe at Hattiesburg.
  13. Hnmmm. Interesting… Will draw some great names I imagine.
  14. All the opt outs to me just signals the need for structured contracts for these players. If you are healthy and being paid, you play every game your team has. You sign a 2 year contract worth $750,000, you play every game for 2 years. It is no longer amateur sports. It is time to stop treating it that way.
  15. Unless the switch just flips for him, I do not see Deuce ever really being that good at the college level honestly. He can throw a "go" route as good as anyone I have seen, but you need A LOT more than that to be successful at the P4 level.
  16. King in my opinion makes the most sense. Fant is a bit perplexing to me as he has a losing record overall at Vancleave. Has had just 1 winning season and just 1 playoff win. I am not sure how that translates to a guy who should be up for this job. I know people say he does "more with less" but does he really? They made the playoffs the past 2 years due to being in arguably the worst region in the entire state for football. He has been about on par with what Lavon Capers was doing there and probably is not in Bloomfield's class (yet). I think he would have them be tough and competitive but I do not see the allure to wanting him. I do not trust retirees from Alabama. Majority of them do not stay long (especially after they see they will not have the freedom to recruit and do as they please like in Alabama) and track record of success (at least on the coast) has not been very good.
  17. Hard to imagine a guy like Lacy leaving a place like Georgia (especially as a DC at a great program like Valdosta) for what is left of Moss Point. If true, sounds like he would be a great candidate for Moss Point though. I wonder if the new coach would have freedom to bring in his own assistants? Moss Point did not look well prepared in the games I saw. I know the talent was down, but they looked lost at times on both sides of the ball.
  18. What names have put in for it? I have heard the current OC who is also an MP alum has a strong shot at the job due to community support.
  19. He did. But he’s played all night. #1. Defensive End
  20. Oatis has played all night. Which is why I’m sort of shocked how well Grenada as run the ball.
  21. How does this guy not have several division 1 offers?! It is mind blowing
  22. I will say from what I gathered, Hattiesburg has had the fortune of things bouncing their way a lot this year. They are a great football team but they have not had the breaks tonight they had been.
