  1. All I have to say to that is good luck. Especially with Mize. You're gonna need it.
  2. We’ll see about that on August 29th.
  3. Big RB did not transfer.
  4. One player transferred, not two. Stringer returns 8+ starters on both sides of the ball. It may still be a win for you guys, but it won’t be anywhere near as easy as you think.

    1A

Stringer is trying to build a program that knows how to win. They have not had a winning season since 2020, and before last season they had 3 2 win seasons in a row. I think the soft scheduling was done to build confidence going into district play. As stated above Region 7 is pretty tough for 1A at least so trying to rack up wins and team confidence makes sense. Scheduling a team that was 8-Man in 2024 and 2 0-10 1A teams is kind of taking soft scheduling to the extreme though. They are not going to be “all that” as far as from a talent standpoint, but they will have the coaching and mental toughness to make a lot more noise than people think they can. Curious to see whether it pays off for them.

I am familiar with the player’s previous and current living situation you are referring to. It goes back to does MHSAA have proof of contact between player in question and WJ coach while he was attending Stringer. Various sources say this 100% occurred during his freshman year and going forward before move was made from family member in Jasper to family member in Jones. This is what MHSAA I would assume is looking at more than just a simple move over district borders that stemmed from something externally as you’re pointing towards. I just don’t see him being ruled ineligible already without the MHSAA having some legitimate hard evidence. Maybe I am wrong. Who knows. I just feel it’s unfortunate that this situation could impact his future for the long term not only in football but as a whole. Hopefully no matter the outcome it will be a lesson learned for everyone involved.

The kid lived squarely in Jasper County a good 3-4 miles from the Jones County line at the time coaches were reaching out to him starting 2 years ago as said above. Even if he is saying he lives in West Jones school district now he was being recruited while living out of district. MHSAA is aware of that and I am quite sure has concrete evidence of the fact which played into the ineligibility. West has been recruiting kids from Jasper and Smith counties to come play for years, and someone finally got tired of it. If it was vise versa you guys would feel the same way. It sucks the kid has to suffer because he is an outstanding player, but I’m sure private school ball is still on the table for him if someone can pay his way. Doubt he’s playing as a Mustang in the fall though.
