South Panola will beat the brakes off of Neshoba Central. I don’t know if Grenada can beat Ridgeland. I know looking at common opponents is misleading but Calloway game was actually competitive vs Grenada and Ridgeland track raced them. .

And Marshall Academy players get the short end of the stick their senior season when they should have gotten to play for a championship in the division they would be in. As I stated before I don’t agree with the way it was done but the coach was in a round about way probing to the powers that be that his kids got screwed

Why have a losers bracket championship in the first place? Could have left it like it has been for years and Marshall would have more than likely won the championship?

Whoever voted to approve the new playoff format résumé’s need to be thrown in the trash along with the coaches.

We can agree to disagree on this one. “Unsportsmanship” was deciding to make 2 champions in each classification just to make a little extra $. Marshall academy got shafted on the new system and decided to prove it to MAIS. Coach and kids work to get into a position to win a state championship for years then you come up with a reclassification system that screws you out of it but caters to others. That’s terrible. As I said I don’t agree with the way that it was done but it’s MAIS fault for not foreseeing this. Of classification was what it was the previous years Marshall wins the SC easily.

People may be upset with the way that the coach went about doing it but he gave his players the best chance to win a championship. MAIS playoffs are a joke. He just proved it.

No offense but Heidelberg beating someone like that is a poor example. Their score will be that lopsided pretty much every week.

How could MAIS not predict something like this occurring with their new playoff format? Yes it’s ridiculous for the coach to do this but ultimately the MAIS is at fault for not realizing this would take place. Why would Marshall Academy choose to go on the road and play Leake Academy?

I can’t believe this hasn’t been talked about here yet. Apparently Marshall Academy Coach threw their last game because it helped their seeding in the playoff format. I believe north half is Grenada and Warren Central again. Repeat from last year. Michael Fair is to good of a coach to not do what it takes to fix the defense.

Screen is about right for 1-6A because their defenses stop about as much a screen does. Now offensively it’s a different story. Go look at the scores.

I believe that will be the case and even that 2nd round game is a coin toss.

I haven’t seen Warren Central play but 1-6A is not impressive at all. Here’s my assessment of 1-6A competitors. I expected Grenada to fall off a bit defensively but they are severely handicapped in the secondary and then Lake Cormorant came in and crammed it down our throat Friday night on the ground. In regards to the deficiency in the secondary it is wild considering we returned most of our starters there. Defensively we play the same 11 players pretty much the entire game without substitution as if it’s 1975 so it is going to be hard to create depth in the future or at least not be restricted severely when injuries occur (which is a given). We aren’t creating any depth for ourself throughout the season and then complaining about not having depth. Offensively, Grenada is really good but when you have to score 35 a game to win that’s hard to do in the playoffs. South Panola is in almost the same position defensively and they struggle with any one who has a decent scheme and athletes offensively. To say it plainly, they aren’t really good on defense AT ALL. Lake Cormorant is head and shoulders the most athletically talented team in 1-6A. They have athletes everywhere on the field (go look how many kids they have with offers) however they are completely one dimensional offensively and not real discipline. I believe their QB is a freshman and if they could complete a pass it would be trouble for everyone.

Who is set to be the North representative in 6A?

Lake Cormorant 28 Grenada 26 Final Grenada defense has to improve if they want to make a run back to SC.

Those are my top 3 right now with Shannon being 4 regardless of their loss to IAHS. It’s hard for me to believe IAHS comes close to matching Shannon athletically. Those kids won’t sleep walk into them again.

Pretty much every home football game is packed at Grenada. It’s a great place to watch a football game. Pretty much always has been. It’s all we have on Friday nights in the fall.

I have not seen anyone in region 2 play so I cannot speak on behalf of any of those teams but I would say the favorite out of North would have to be South Panola but they aren’t real good to be honest. Their defense is soft and schematically suspect. The North ran through Grenada but a couple of injuries and then losing its best player on defense to an accessory to murder charge……. Has left them in a hole. Prior to losing the Defensive End their only hope of actually stopping the pass was a pass rush because they don’t know what they are doing in the secondary. if I had to rank the North it will come down to South Panola, Grenada, Lake Cormorant (freshman QB), and Warren Central

I’m not sure of all of the scenarios but North 4A runs through Louisville and/or Kosciusko. Possibly Clarksdale as a long shot. Shannon’s loss to IAHS doesn’t look good for their hopes of actually competing for a title. Kosciusko is a really good football and Louisville is Louisville.

Grenada vs Lake Cormorant will be a great game Friday night that isn’t listed here. If we don’t improve in the secondary we will get beat and be the 3rd seed in division with a possible 2nd round trip home. Our secondary is lost lost.
