Yeah I had some fun with their fans before state championship game last year. They were very cocky but were humble after the game. If there is a team that can bounce back its them, they have the skins on the wall, but it does seem like there are definitely more teams in the mix and they are the prohibitive favorite that they have been in previous seasons.

I agree give it time, if you remember it was the 2nd half of the East Central game is when they got it going for the impressive run.

You can try to stick a fork in West Point at you own peril but that would be ill advised. They have the players and are well coached. They believe in their system and it is a proven to be effective at winning championships. I believe they will be around in late November.

True the Maroon Tide has been a little sloppy in the 2nd half of both games but I think you have to give credit to the 2 opponents as well. I think both Poplarville and JDC will make it to South State championship game and probably advance. Both are very good on defense and have good enough running games to control tempo and that goes a long way when the temperature drops later in the year. Maroon Tide will be just fine.

This should be Bud Bowen's 45th year doing West Point games. He is a class act win or lose but of course West Point doesn't lose often.

Yes he started as an assistant at PRCC early on before he has gotten all his degrees, I think he has his Masters now. I am 100% sure he was Offensive Coordinator at Picayune 2011 and 2013 State Titles. As it is anywhere you need some players and if he gets a few players then Germantown will be fine.

Mitchell will be a great head coach was offensive coordinator at Pearl Pearl Community College when they won National Championship in 2004 and won several state championships with Tim Hatten. Was Offensive Coordinator for Picayune when they won State Championships in 2011 and 2013. Looks like he's done ok at Oak Grove ,too. He has some skins on the wall and I think Germantown will be pleased.

We can disagree about the kids moving in from Chalmette. That's not a life or death matter.

Which one I made a couple? Well that's the beauty of this web page is we can agree to disagree. You are fooling yourself if you don't think the Louisiana kids he brought in didn't help them. Some big lineman and some good defensive players and his nephew being one of them. I know plenty parents and ex-players who didn't care for him I'm just telling you what I was told by people close to program. If you really want to be honest those kids responded more to Seth Smith and John Feaster. When they left for head coaching jobs Collins wasn't far behind.' Look at the state of the program now. Hey Larry Dolan one of the best high school coaches around these parts struggled up there. Collins didn't handle the political side of it very well and if you don't believe there is a political side to high school sports then we can agree to disagree.

Which one I made a couple?

First of all I do think Collins is a good high school coach but he has a problem getting along with the fanbase .I can assure you, he was not well liked at PRC but he had some very talented kids move in from Louisiana where he is from. They had a good little run and if you know PRC fanbase they will really support their team when they are competitive. they have a rabid crowd when doing good. You can see of late that Collins only last about 3 years each at the last 3 jobs so I think that speaks volumes.

You are a funny guy Marilyn. Injuries are always part of the game. My condolences to the young men's families that lost their lives tragic indeed and much to young. As they like to say there is always next year, good luck.

I have been on here many years Marylin, I go way back when Appletalk was reeking havoc on here so don't be fooled cause I only posted a few times under my current handle. If you were an honest person which you have proven that you are not with your goofy analysis of teams and games, If you had a shred of credibility which you obviously don't you would say honestly that the greatest team ever to play high school football your beloved Mustang's QB's knee was down on the touchdown that ended up being the game winner in 2018. You all were big favorites and barely squeaked out the win. The next year you got run out of your own stadium as a big favorite. What a Tool and poser.

I would be a little hesitant about kicking dirt on West Point just yet, they have a tremendous program and a system that they believe in. They have some really good players coming back but so do a lot of teams. Should be an exciting year in 2022 cant wait. RTR

This guy here. Why can't you let it go, we gave you praise and made no excuses when West Jones beat the Tide last year at our place we congratulated and moved on. Hey you finally won one last year how about acting like you been there before. I guess you forgot about the beatdown the Tide put on you all at your place in 2019. Most of the fans wanted you all to beat Laurel cause the Tornados were a tougher match up for the Tide .I have many relatives that live within walking distance of the West Jones Stadium in the Lebanon community and several of my cousins were good players for the Mustangs. I spent many of my summers in the community with my grandparents who are buried right there at Lebanon. You getting on here and acting like a pompous troll sullies the reputation of the good people of West Jones.

They didn't just get that way with the cheating, Maroon Tide played them over there in 79/80 season and the running back went down to ground and whistle blew, he gets up runs around the end and they counted the 40 yard run for a TD. We heard the whistle blow on the field. Needless to say we lost the game because of that blown call, never got over it and never trusted Ole Brook since.

The Maroon Tide is playing lights out right now, just need to keep focused cause Ole Brook will be a tough opponent. Need to be tough in the trenches.

Did not know his story, just read about the young man. Great kid and incredible family its hard not to pull for him.
