I thought Gulfport would have the edge over Ocean Springs but I have reversed course. Ocean Springs are really solid up front and athletes all over the field especially #7 & #8. Two legit players, what I think it will come down to is the QB play. He was lights out against Picayune and if he keeps improving they will be a tough out. I like the way he looks the field over and doesn't look to pull the ball down and take off right away. I still can't get over the tackle eligible play on 4th down, great call by the coaching staff.

Some of the folks I've talked to that have seen some 6A north teams and played them do agree that Warren Central and South Panola are 2 of the best teams. Lake Comarant is the wild card. Warren Central has a great D but they get a little undisciplined at time.

We will find out real quick cause they play this week. Don't be surprised if West Harrison knocks Hancock from the unbeaten.

West Point is 5A and I think West Harrison could be a dangerous team coming out of 4-6A.

Lots of football to be played, Some good teams left and I think some improved teams. I know everyone talks about the big 3 but anything can happen.

Congratulations to the Greyhounds they were definitely the better team tonight they earned the win. They had a great game plan and executed to near perfection. The fumble on their first possession was really the only blemish on the night that I can recall. The QB played a great game and ran their offense flawlessly and # 7 and # 8 are studs. The 4th down touchdown pass was a great call and put the game on ice. I do wanna say that defensive front and linebackers played a superb game and they are definitely the best we have seen so far this year. They are quick and very athletic. I do think the open date couldn't come at a better time for the Tide. We will regroup and make some adjustments and get ready for the district games. Should be a great game between the Greyhounds and Admirals when they hook up. Maroon Tide will work on eliminating some of the mistakes and go forward. Good luck to the Greyhounds going forward they definitely were the better team tonight.

So where is the West Jones and Hattiesburg regular season showdown played this year?

Hey be careful about making fun of Calhoun High my mom was a graduate of the class of 1959. My grandparents and many relatives are buried at Lebanon Baptist right across the highway from West Jones. Got many close relatives in the area to this day and they have kids going to school there. I do want beat them cause I am Maroon Tide all the way but do have much respect for the Mustangs. RTR

No it was on the run before the punt. It was not a big hit he just landed on the shoulder awkwardly. Same one he hurt in Jr. High.

Poplarville will keep it on the ground and eat clock. I predicted about 21, because to get to 35 it would have to be a couple Defense TDs but Poplarville won't be throwing it around to allow that.

I agree they will struggle to consistently move the ball.

West Jones wins by 3 touchdowns. This is one of Poplarville's weaker teams in the last decade. That's the reason why they dropped Picayune but at least they did it early on and didn't wait till the last minute like another county school.

At least 4 to 6 weeks but they are not going to rush him back.

I will take the Tigers in that one, I see them getting better as they get closer to division play.

Picayune has had more problems with penalties and fumbles than the secondary. They had 2 blown coverages early in the game against Catholic. The last drive to put it overtime they let two pick 6's slip through their fingertips. The secondary is solid overall.

No surprise that Columbia beat Petal they are better. Not sure if its a coincidence or not, but Petal has been mediocre at best since the crazy loss in State Championship game even with Boyles there.

They may be a little slow out the gate but when lights get brighter they tend to turn it on. If not a top 10 definitely top 12 they will be there. To many athletes.

I guess that's why they play the games. It will get sorted out on the field sooner or later.

West Jones is definitely a top ten team. They are better than a couple of those teams in there ahead of them with all due respect.

The jury is still out on Gulfport this weekend we should get a better idea on them. Totally agree on Columbia vs. Petal. It won't be an upset if Columbia wins.

Ok we will see, all I said is they have been soft on defense for the last couple years and I didn't say anything about their offense. Good luck to GC I hope they are improved.

Ok. They held EC to 7 and EC is struggling big time for some reason. They gave up 28 to Greene County. If that is vastly improved then so be it. The competition heats up in the future.

Last few years GC has been really soft on the defensive side. Even if you score a lot you have to get some stops.

I hope they can play defense, too.
