Two great games, on paper anyway. Neither team's offenses looked great in two quarters of a jamboree but I think OS will move the ball on the ground behind their big O line. I could be wrong but I don't see MC moving the ball on OS defense. They're best chance would be in the air but with young QBs I don't see them doing that unless its jump balls. MC TE is a grown man though! We will see who is ready for big boy football early in the season. MC had two JV games going at once and looked like they still had 100 players on the sidelines! This heat may bring numbers into play. I could be wrong but I'd give the edge to OS based on returning mostly two and three year starters on a defense that's only lost to OG and Brandon over the last two years. Picayune and Brandon should be a good one! Picayune hasn't faced a passing game like Brandon but Brandon definitely will be tested by Picayune running game. Last season I would've gone with the Tide. This year I'm not so sure. I'd pick Brandon just because they seem to win these games against everyone except for a north 7A powerhouse team or occasionally OG. However as a Coast guy, Go Tide!

I never saw anyone saying they wanted him to sit out his senior year but maybe I missed it. Mostly I saw people pointing out that following the head coach is not allowed and that's what would have to happen. I'd think thats what the gulfport staff should have advised him also but instead it sounds like they were willing for the kid to risk his senior year over the move. He ended up back in OS and they got their senior safety. Sometimes karma steps in.

d'Iberville vs Columbia (Just because it's the first game and I'm curious to see if my Warriors can get back to their winning ways) Picayune vs Brandon (This may be the biggest first game of the season in years. Other than not playing OG, Picayune has a chance to possibly stake claim to South State Champs in both 6A and 7A since they play Brandon, Gulfport, OS and D'Iberville in Non District) I wish we could've watched an OS vs Picayune real game last season. Jamboree was very competitive. OS vs Madison Central (First look at OS without Hubbard in three years. Defense should be even better returning 9 and have a starting senior transfer from Gulfport. So basically 10 returners on a defense that shut down some good teams last season.) OS vs Gulfport is probably going to be a big game, at least on paper, with possible Region Championship on the line but they better not get caught looking ahead because everyone in Region 4 7A is looking to be the ones to knock them both off of the top. Mostly I'm just ready for any and ALL football!!!

Actually MLB did leave. I don't think he ended up where he wanted but I guess we'll know for sure in a few weeks. Defense will be solid regardless. New QB is obviously an unknown but I haven't heard anything but good things. Good size and very intelligent. Strong pre-district schedule will show where OS is early for sure. I haven't heard much about Gulfport except for they have the big QB. They always have talent all over the field. Should be interesting. May be wishful thinking, but after a down year, I'm hoping D'ville gets back to their winning ways soon!

I hate to hear this for the kid. He's obviously being led around by adults who don't truly have his best interest in mind and are willing to break rules that put his senior year in jeopardy. Sounds like the coach's goal was to weaken the team he left more than it was to provide an environment for this young man to show case his talent for his senior year. In that case, I guess he wins either way.

I've heard circumstances are different when it's a Head Coach that leaves as in a player can't transfer that same year but I don't see how anyone can tell a family they can't move to a school district if that's what they feel is best for their own kid. i'm assuming they will have to provide a proof of address but whatever. I like the idea of adding more fuel to the fire! Especially when a player is a transfer player anyway and has no real loyalty to the school. I remember the days of kids growing up in their own town and dreaming of playing for their own High School. PRIDE in wearing the uniform of the town they grew up in but times change! I also remember a kid from d'ville transferring years ago and it was the best thing that happened for him and d'ville......Kid went on to college because he played in an offense he wouldn't have played in had he stayed and d'ville beat him all three years of High School. It all works out in the end. I've never wanted a player or coach to be on my sideline who didn't want to be there! Next man up!

Seems like a lot of concern over a team that y'all say have hit their peak. Gulfport fans and Oak Grove fans commenting a lot on Ocean Springs news these days......maybe because Greyhounds have whipped them both recently? I hear there's PLENTY to worry about over in the Admiral facility. Oak Grove shouldn't concern themselves so much with a little coast team. Just let us coasties enjoy our small victories. Well except for that whipping OS had over OG this season. Region 3 loves bragging about dominating Region 4 when they usually just move on to lose against the north. North region fans are hardly ever on here bragging when they are actually all of our big brothers!

All I'm gonna say is Saban has been hanging around OS an awful lot the last few days. Anyone who's has had those Tato-nut donuts you see here, knows people would sell their soul to get their hands on one. Head Coach? AD? Who knows!

I'm going with the Hounds in a close one. OG may very well come in and get the W again but they will have to stop more than just Hubbard to slow this offense down. OS defense is better than last year and I don't see OG being able to keep up with the Hounds offense. it should be a great game either way! Go Hounds!
-
Starkville wins Tupelo wins Brandon wins Ocean Springs wins As it should, 2nd round of playoffs brings all of the good teams to the forefront and anything can happen! Everyone knew last year was going to be a close game, and it was 28-21. OG was returning an undefeated state champion QB and an experienced team with D1 db's. I feel like the script is flipped this year with OS having more experienced starters on both sides of the ball. However, anything can happen under the Friday Night lights. Go Hounds!

The 4th seed from region 3 may be the best team OS has played this season other than Clinton. It doesn't look like NW Rankin will be a pushover based on how well they played Brandon just a couple weeks ago. I think OS matches up against anyone in the state on both sides of the ball and on special teams. I'll take the Hounds in a good game! Step 1: Beat the cougars.....Go Hounds!

Twice in 2014-2015, my apologies, and dominated by a total score of 76-20 in those two meetings when they moved into Region 4 for a minute. Lots of talk that they would dominate Region 4 and they didn't. OS twice in last two years and they were dominated by a total score of 78-14. You can compare OS to Brandon, Clinton and OG but not to Hattiesburg is my point.
-
I'd take OS based solely on last years game and knowing OS is as good or better. Definitely better defensively. Defense just hasn't been giving up points until they loosen up after taking large early leads. However, Gulfport has obviously improved as well, so it should be a great game and a much needed challenge for both teams to prepare for playoffs. I'll pick OS by 3 Td's until I see a team stop Hubbard and company for more than a half. Good luck! Also, @maroontide06 as a D'ville guy, you guys have always been a coast team to us. Every season is a battle, whether it's a region game or not. Iron sharpens iron. This season was a different story for my Warriors but glad to see you guys dominating in 5A! Good luck!

Obviously Brandon and Oak Grove will usually be a tough out for anyone. That's nothing to be ashamed of, since they are usually top 4 or 5 in the state pretty regularly. OS went toe to toe with what everyone bragged was a good OG team last season. If or when they play this season, I'd guess it will be another great game but it won't be a blow out against OG or Brandon. OS is absolutely on their level as they showed last season, leading at the half and losing in a close game. However, to say Hattiesburg or Clinton has improved as if OS hasn't in 8 weeks is silly. Both teams have had two years to beat the Hounds. Clinton had a good effort last season but Hattiesburg is not in their league this year, last year or any year in recent history. OS and D'VILLE have dominated Hattiesburg for a decade or more. The top 4 teams in Region 3 along with Picayune are the only teams beating the top two teams in Region 4 year after year. Hattiesburg is NOT on that list. Region 3 top four are usually strong teams and while it's frustrating, that doesn't make the top two region 4 teams bad. I think every Region 3 fan would agree, Region 4 is just losing to really good teams. You can't brag how strong the region is and then say the teams that lose to them by one score in a playoff game is weak. Good luck to the Hounds and I'm looking forward to another strong showing. First up.....Gulfport!

Irving is a beast! Not sure who Howard is but I do agree Irving should be on any All Star team based on his game alone! I disagree that Hubbard should be anywhere other than QB on the All Star team. He's averaging over 1000 yds per season rushing and passing for all three years. He'll probably be over 1000 yards in both rushing and receiving after this week with 3 games left plus playoffs. If this is a career award, then being Mr Football in 6A as a junior and being undefeated again this season on one of the States best teams puts him at the Top of the list. He's led OS to only 2 regular season losses in three years. Both of those were as a sophomore! He's earned his spot for sure!

All teams will have their up and down years, Warriors have way more ups than downs for sure, but the heart of this program was on full display last night in Pascagoula! Congrats to this team for not giving up on themselves. Sitting at a 1-5 record overall and 0-2 in district, they were down 27-7 last night in the first half. Warriors could've easily hung it up with the circumstances they were in but they fought back and won a thrilling game in double overtime. Granted it was against a struggling Goula team but proud to see that these kids are still gonna come out and play their hearts out for themselves and their coaches. Congrats on a great win last night! Go Warriors!

Biloxi looks like a different team this year but OS offense has been as advertised. However the OS defense is the real story only allowing 6 points a game. Watching the Biloxi defense allow that same D'ville team OS just shut out to score 4 TD's, I 'd expect OS to score their average of 35-42 points. I'm guessing a 35-7 type score in this one but Biloxi may prove me wrong.
-
Warriors lost their 4th straight to a good Biloxi team that beat Pearl two weeks ago. I hope the warriors can turn their season around soon but don’t see it happening this week! Keep grinding! Go Warriors!
-
Good season for Vancleave so far but I don’t see anyone in their region slowing down the team I watched play Dville. Offense is obviously good but defense is just as strong! Picayune 35-7. Tide is for real!
-
Great win for the Indians! These young Warriors just have to go back to work! Go Warriors!
-
Biloxi Indians @ d’Iberville Warriors: I may be picking with my heart but Warriors circle this game against "South d'Iberville" every year! Go Warriors! Harrison Central Red Rebels @ Pascagoula Panthers: I thing H/C is going to be a handful for everyone this year. Haven't watched Goula at all but I'll go the HC! Gulfport Admirals @ St. Martin Yellowjackets: I think the Jackets are turning things around (they always look great against the weaker teams they schedule in pre-district) but Admirals look like they may be back after being a little down the last couple of years. Ocean Springs Greyhounds @ Hancock Hawks: Greyhounds will be getting everyone's best game at this point. Can't overlook anyone but I think OS has too many weapons and defense is legit! The real season starts tonight! Good luck! Go Warriors!
-
Great game by the Tide! Dowdell is a beast and defense definitely is as advertised! No doubt gonna be another great season for Picayune for sure! Warriors take it on the chin like most teams will against this Picayune team but next week starts the season! Good luck to the Tide! Go Warriors!

Enterprise top two players out with injuries
Matt replied to EnterpriseBulldogsFan's topic in Football
I do this with my buddies sometimes when I go golfing....."My back is stiff today. I hope I can swing the clubs!" Get that excuse in there in case things go bad. -
No offense intended for sure! I love that these two teams continue to play each other even though they are in different classifications. Iron sharpens iron! I just know that Stanislaus and Laurel had some of the biggest d-linemen we have faced in a long time! I didn't watch JDC and live stream was grainy video so couldn't tell their size but surely fast. Stanislaus and Laurel were impressive to look at for sure! I'm talking 6'3"-6'8" guys from 300-400lbs.....Some maybe too large for sure on Laurel but man they were huge!! I just hope my Warriors can make a game of it with this being projected as a "unknown year" after graduating all starters but one on both sides of the ball. Only returner being the QB. Can't make the game but will be watching on d'ville FB live on their Booster Club's FB page for those who want to tune in. Warning! It is understandably biased commentary only! Love it! Good luck to both teams! Stay healthy for district! Go Warriors!
-
I hope you're wrong. I think Picayune will move the ball on d'ville but Warriors have been putting up points against some big fast defenses. Picayune will no doubt be another strong opponent before district play kicks off! Good luck! Go Warriors!
