  1. So you want to take away two touchdown plays? Uh yeah I guess if you start taking away offensive plays by OS, then OG did great! Or you can take away the two bad snaps by OS in their own redzone, the fumble late in the game in the OG redzone and a soccer slide tackle by the OG QB to make the game 41-7 instead. DOMINATION if you watched the game. OS may win or lose but OG's "most talented team" is at home for Thanksgiving and their fans are still too salty to give credit to the "soft coast school". Happy Thanksgiving! We're on to Brandon.
  2. "Every other year" you mean? OS 69-39 in last two meetings in playoffs and have sent OG home 2 of the last 3 years. Congrats on the championships though. Much respect! See how easy that was? Go Hounds!
  3. No doubt Brandon is favored but will hopefully be a great game like the last meeting in 2022. OS has shocked a couple teams and their fan bases in the last month with 9 new starters on defense and a run heavy offense. Brandon will by far be their biggest test of the season! Go Hounds!
  4. Just say the better team won. Just like your guys in the booth, you guys can't do it can you? Ocean Springs had the ball 1st and goal after the kickoff return starting 2nd half, then had two bad snaps and missed FG. OS had an INT for a TD at the end of the game if not for a soccer slide tackle trip by the QB. This game should've easily been 41-14 and was dominated by OS on the front lines on both sides. #15 for OS had 5 sacks and everyone on the OG side knew he had 3 the last game and was already leading the State and still couldn't stop him! OG had better skill players and more D1 guys with at least one coming from neighboring high school and didn't get it done. We always respect OG but never get it in return, which makes these beat downs oh so much sweeter. Until next year.
  5. When two good teams play in the playoffs the game is supposed to be close and hard fought and one bad call that changes field position can absolutely change the outcome of a game I know these are low paid refs with a day job who mostly do their best. Some are just better than others. Hopefully we get the better half this week. Safe travels.
  6. By that logic they both played Biloxi to basically the same score, so that would make it a coin toss right? Common opponents means nothing. It's all about the individual matchups.
  7. I don't think anyone should be comfortable saying they are gonna win and are the dominate team in this one. The final score of the last matchup was misleading considering, the game was tied 21-21 with 6min left in the 4th quarter in week 2. I've watched both teams play all year and I assumed this would be a rematch in the second or third round. I'm with you that Oak Grove is the favorite on paper and based on the last meeting, somewhat. I don't buy into one team has improved since week 2 and the other has stayed the same, but OS had 9-10 new starters this season on defense so the amount of growth they've had during this season has been fun to watch. I don't think anyone would've thought they'd be as good on that side of the ball as they've been after basically losing the entire defense. Obviously turnovers and penalties played a huge part in the game when they last met. OG had tons of penalties and OS had bad snaps/fumbles kill drives. In the last meeting, OS had the blocked FG for a TD that turned the momentum their way until mid 4th quarter, then OG received the gift of a terrible grounding penalty to set OS back when they were driving, then fumbled in the backfield and OG picked it up and ran it in for a TD to seal the game. OG is well balanced on offense and if the QB is left upright he seems to have improved. Hopefully OS defense will continue to pressure the opposing QB this week and make him make a mistake but everyone will have made adjustments since the last meeting.OS's huge o-line pushed OG around a litte bit last meeting and I see that being a must for OS to have success this week. I think this will be a good game and I'm just hoping neither team walks away feeling like a bad call determined the outcome of the game. The same crew that was in OG the last meeting was the same crew OS had against NWR last week, where both teams probably felt they were screwed at least 3 or 4 times by questionable calls, and a couple terrible ones. I'm not saying that crew is purposely bad, I just know they had to have been given a bad grade on both games I've witnessed them call. Let's pray the kids on the field determine the outcome this week and that the game is a good one because it usually is. Safe travels!
  8. A screen type pass designed to be thrown behind line of scrimmage to running back out of back field can surely be thrown at his feet in High School? To my knowledge throwing past line of scrimmage comes into play when no one is in the area but maybe I'm wrong. RB literally picked up the ball and brought it back to the ref. Regardless OS still had opportunities but definitely was a momentum killer.
  9. Great game! Both teams made mistakes for sure and also looked good at times. That BS grounding penalty against OS with 5min left in game with a 21-21 tie was a killer but OS still had chances to rebound and didn't get it done. OS moved the ball some in first half but as usual turnovers are the story. They've got to figure out the passing game but that's hard to do against teams like Madison Central and OG. The OS defense has definitely been a little bit of a surprise with 9 new starters. Proud of how hard this OS team has fought the last two weeks against top teams. Hopefully the offense starts clicking soon. OG is loaded as usual! Good luck going forward!

    7A South Playoffs

Brandon by as much as they want Ocean Springs vs. Meridian: This senior loaded OS defense has been shutting down one dimensional teams for 3 years. Hill is definitely a beast and will probably bust a long run or two, but with no threat to pass I don't see them scoring much. OS offense will be the key. If their big OLINE can push the Meridian DLINE around, this game may get out of hand early. All hands on deck for OS after having a few key big men out or sick against Gulfport, so OS should be able to get the W. However, I'm sure Meridian is about to pull out everything imaginable. A team with nothing to lose is always dangerous, especially with athletes all over the field. OS wins 28-7 Oak Grove by as much as they want Gulfport vs. Pearl should be a good game. Don't know much about Pearl but I think Gulfport has the team to win the first round matchup this year if there aren't turnovers in key moments. GPT wins 21-14.
  11. OS defense has been a strength of this team for the last three years for sure, so that's nothing new. OS offense was missing a key offensive lineman. 6'7" 320lb left tackle, sophomore back up played a great game against a tough defense, but no doubt that's gonna effect the running game some. I think 30-7 is pretty dominate considering some major contributors on both sides of the ball played less minutes because of the flu or sat out altogether. As far as the OS QB, he definitely didn't have his best game but he has played extremely well this season, especially considering he's never started a game before his senior year. A high school QB with 1500yds passing, 180yds/game, 70% completion with only 2 INTS is a little better than a game manager in my opinion. The running game also averages 180yds per game against some strong competition . Some of his biggest games this season in passing has come against the stronger opponents they've played. This offense has some really good athletes at the skill positions and attacks defenses from everywhere until they find the weak link. The defense will definitely keep them in games but as always it will come down to turnovers against the top teams in the playoffs.
  12. You're correct on PIcayune RB being out against Gulfport for majority of game. He play the first series and went out with the injury. However, like you say, they had that game in hand and let it slip away. Closest comparison between the two teams though in a head to head game. Maxpreps has both team's QB's basically having the same stats passing (1350 yds with only 1 INT) with GPT QB having about 160 yds more in rushing. OS QB has the higher completion percentage, almost 70%, and has definitely been a pleasant surprise for the Hounds. Defense probably favors towards the Hounds but Gulfport is no slouch for sure.
  13. Gulfport has improved since their early losses and OS is rolling, with the defense being the strength for sure but the offense has been more explosive than expected. QB has been consistent in all aspects of the game and exceeded expectations in the passing game for sure. I'd pick OS based on how this defense has played in the bigger games this season but Gulfport QB has been playing great with weapons at all of the skill positions. This will be the most balanced team OS has faced since Madison Central in my opinion. Good test for both teams headed into the playoffs.
  14. Love this time of year when all games have meaning! OG losing to Brandon doesn't surprise me at all but I still think both teams, along with the 3 and 4 seeds will give OS and GPT all they want and more come playoff time. The most surprising thing to me isn't that OS is beating the lower teams in Region 4, it's that they are putting a running clock on them. HC gave Meridian all they wanted and OS had the 35 point running clock for all of 4th quarter against them. Doesn't mean much I guess but at least makes me think OS will have a shot to make some noise again late this season. Gulfport game should be the last real test for either team before playoffs but as soon as you overlook someone, you will trip up. One week at a time! Hopefully Region 4 teams will be better for facing these teams OS and Gulfport are starting to put together the last couple years.
  15. OS and Gulfport are probably going to make all district 4 teams ask this question before it's over. The question will be how they play against the other teams. I'd think Biloxi will look a lot better against St Martin this week but who knows. Dville getting GPT and OS out of the way early will set them up to make a run late. OS vs HC this week will let us see if there is anyone going to contend with the top two teams. I thought HC would have the best chance but then seeing how they played St Martin so close, now I'm not so sure. District play and rivalry games can bring out the fight in some of the underdogs for sure. Fall weather and games that matter every week! The best time of year!!
  16. I've watched a few games online this year of both team but I also watched both teams in person in the playoffs last year. Your own guys have made reference to the inaccuracies at times but the good thing is one of us will be proven wrong Friday night. Gotta love High School football! Good luck!
  17. I'm an OS fan that would love for both teams to lose as many games as possible but I'm sure that doesn't help your argument. Meridian has a great RB and so does Brandon but OG is not going to be able to load the box this week. I just think Brandon is better than Meridian in both aspects of the offense and defensively as well. It's a big rivalry so I know both teams will be up for this game but I got Brandon big.
  18. OG couldn't stop a very one dimensional Meridian team for most of the game. Brandon has a very similar back with a good passing game on top of that and they may run twice as many plays. If they could both lose, I'd wish for that but instead I'll just give my opinion on it.
  19. I may be wrong but after watching Meridian move the ball up and down the field on OG, I think Brandon may score every time they touch the ball. The inaccuracy of the OG passing game will keep OG from returning the favor. I see Brandon winning by a large margin!
  20. If it helps ease the pain any, D'Iberville is starting to gel with a young team and QB. Don't jump ship just because an up and coming 7A football team posted a 63 burger on your score board! District hasn't even started yet! Good luck in the real season!
  21. Everyone knows what's coming. It's a matter of having 11 guys who are going to step in and do their part defensively. 2-3 guys have to sacrifice themselves almost every play to take out lead blockers, then there has to be someone left to bring a good RB down. It will take an overall defensive effort from OS. This group on defense for OS has had a great high school run against some good teams. Only real losses that mattered in last two years were to balanced teams like OG two years ago and Brandon last year. Neither were built like Picayune. I'm looking forward to seeing if these seniors can step up to this powerful running game. It will test their will to win a non-district game for sure. I'm glad they have a bye week to recover from what will definitely be a physical game.
  22. I think Gulfport and OS will be a close matchup and either team can win for sure. OS defense looks like the real deal to me at all 11 positions. They have proven themselves against tough teams the last two seasons and have basically all starters back from a great team last year. They have played tough this year against MC and NW Rankin. The other two games they dominated but obviously against inferior teams. Although Natchez did play tough against Vicksburg two weeks ago but they aren't on the level of a Picayune or OS for sure. However, like I said, this will be the test to prove themselves for sure.
  23. Ocean Springs has played a couple tough opponents in MC and NW Rankin. OS defense will be tested with a different animal this week no doubt but I think they're one of the best in the state and will get a chance to prove it. Offense is coming along and playing another tough opponent is great experience for an offense trying to find their identity. This will probably the best defense they've seen this season although MC and NW Rankin were both solid defensively as well. No matter the outcome, both teams will be better for playing this game for sure. Praying for both teams to stay healthy and get more great experience from another tough opponent! I'm going with OS in a close one but I watched the two solid RB'S for Picayune bring them back against Gulfport and the QB is a dual threat as well, so I wouldn't be shocked either way. Should be a great game.
  24. "Whitehead" but I don't see him playing QB this season. QB looked pretty good in jamboree and I think he adds a real threat to the outside coming in motion along with Smith. Hoping he gets on the field sooner rather than later for sure!
