  1. Nice road sweep for MSU. I think MSU was going to be a NS with just a series win, a sweep is a no doubt NS no matter what happens in the SECT. OM SHOULD be a lock to host after the series win this weekend, but winning 1 in the SECT would definitely lock up a host site. OM losing the first game of the SECT is very possible... if not likely. IF losing the first game means OM hosts anyway, I assume to get the SECT over with immediately and rest the arms for the regional. OM will struggle to get out of a regional with the lack of depth on the mound. Well rested arms MAY help them overcome that lack of depth. Arkansas- could enough be said about them this season? ZERO series losses in a strong SEC including a sweep on the road vs a very good MSU team and a sweep over a pretty good Florida team. Everyone expected Arkansas to be good this year, I don't think anyone expected them to be THIS good. Tennessee gets a nod for being the biggest surprise- at least to me. Did anyone expect them to beat out Vandy, or even Florida, to win the East?
  2. OM picks up the series win at UGA tonight in extra innings 8-5. I expect tomorrow's game to be very high scoring, a lot of pitching has been burned. OM is likely safely a host at this point and nothing else matters tomorrow or in the SECT other than the seeding.
  3. MSU takes the series with a 7-0 lopsided win tonight, goes for the sweep tomorrow. Sweep or not tomorrow, IMO MSU is safely a NS no matter what happens tomorrow or in the SECT. MSU is just playing for higher NS at this point.
  4. No idea what "Revenge Porn" is, it's probably best left unsaid whatever it is.
  5. If the Clarion Rebel has a headline "Thanks Arkansas!" tomorrow, I don't want to see complaints. **
  6. OM and MSU both picked up road wins tonight. We'll see how it plays out the next two games for SEC tourney seedings for these two teams. Arkansas wrapped up the #1 SEC seed with a win over Florida tonight. 1 of the next two games with a win, Arkansas will complete the season with zero series losses... that's VERY impressive if they pull it off looking at the schedule they had in and out of conference.
  7. 9-7 UTM won. No depth on the mound.
  8. Ha, yep... were tied at the time. Down by 2 in the bottom of the 8th any MAYBE slug it out to tie it back up again... vs UTM.
  9. Once again tonight, OM is proving up my comment about getting out of a regional. OM getting 1 win against anyone in 3 games is a great bet, that's been proven all year. Getting 2 of 3 vs good teams has been an issue at times, but certainly has happened. OM actually pulled it off against NS Vandy this past weekend without Hoglund. The depth at pitching was already questionable and is just not good at all without Hoglund eating 6-7 innings as a strong starter. OM is tied 6-6 with UT Martin after 7 innings tonight. UTM is 17-27 overall this year, a team a regional host should be able to easily put away with "game 5 pitching". This is "game 4 pitching" struggling with UTM. IF OM happens to make it to game 4 in a regional, I'll wager a TON that they'll face a much better team than UTM.
  10. I think MSU is a NS as long as they win the series at Bama, a sweep isn't needed. IF MSU loses the series to Bama and IF other teams close to MSU in the pecking order win, MSU falls out of the NS slot. MSU is better than Bama, so they SHOULD win the series. Most good teams have a questionable series loss and MSU got that out of the way last weekend... they'll rebound this weekend.
  11. Capable, sure... but the odds aren't great without Gunner on the mound AND Elko still injured to slug much. OM's best bet is to slug their way through 3 straight wins to get out of a regional. A game 4 would likely be a slugfest by both teams involved and I would wager a game 4 pitching by anyone else in a regional would be >>>> than game 4 pitching by Ole Miss right now. Most everyone that advances to a regional final can slug the ball. It may be odd to say, but I actually like OM's chances of advancing from a super regional vs from a regional. You need depth to get through a regional, OM just doesn't have much of that right now.
  12. That OM series win over Vandy gives Ole Miss the signature win they needed lately to possibly solidify a host spot. At this point, I feel good about OM hosting unless they get swept at UGA. Towards the end of today's game the announcers stated OM hasn't been swept all year, which means it will likely happen at UGA! Ha. I still don't think it matters, OM isn't deep enough to get out of a regional IMO. Arkansas took the series at UT today. Once again, Arkansas has proven to be just better than everyone else. Arkansas hasn't lost an SEC series all season and also swept a very good MSU team (in Starkville). Arkansas has another strong test next weekend hosting #9 Florida, but I expect them to win that series. Even IF they lost the series without getting swept, I'd still likely argue they should be the #1 seed in the nation. 1 week to go in the regular season, we'll see how it all shakes out.
  13. Vandy whipped Ole Miss 13-2 tonight. No surprise there.
  14. I'll be a tad surprised if MSU doesn't make it to Omaha. Obviously, IF MSU plays like this weekend again, losing their own Regional will likely happen. This weekend is far from how MSU has played all season though. Vandy is drilling Ole Miss today. 6-0 in the 5th.
  15. Mizzou won 16-8 to take the series in Starkville. That's a bet I would have easily lost. This series loss probably drops MSU from a #3 NS to a #6 NS (depending on what others do this weekend)... which means it's not a big deal at all. I'd bet on MSU taking the series at Bama next weekend and end up with the #4 or #5 NS.
  16. Tennessee took today's game vs Arkansas to even the series.
  17. This is obviously the biggest series this weekend. Arkansas pulled out game 1 on the road. IF they win this series, it solidifies my opinion that Arkansas is just above the rest in a very good conference.
  18. Yep. Broadway is likely good for one more close this weekend IF a lead is held into the 8th. Without Hoglund, I just don't see OM holding a lead until late vs Vandy in the next two games.
  19. Nikhazy and Broadway combined with a great effort tonight as OM picks up the win. We'll see what happens the next two games, but I'd bet on Vandy taking the next two if I were a betting man.
  20. Eh, I see it this way on OM/Vandy: 49.99999999% chance OM wins 1 of 3. 48% chance Vandy sweeps. 1% chance OM wins 2 of 3. .00000001% chance OM sweeps.
  21. True, but more importantly I really hope this doesn't suck more for Hoglund as in dropping far in the draft due to injury. He's been a really good college pitcher and has potential to be a solid pro. Typically, TJ surgeries go well nowadays... so hopefully his draft pick position doesn't fall too much.
  22. Agreed 83 and IA, injuries have played a role, as has untimely hitting, and also the bullpen just hasn't stepped up for the most part. I'll throw in the fielding, too many untimely errors. It really doesn't matter if Ole Miss gets to host or not (outside of bragging rights and good for the economy in Oxford), this team most likely won't advance out of any regional without Hoglund.
  23. Nothing official that I've seen, but I figure Hoglund is done for the season. I HOPE I'm wrong.
  24. Ole Miss fans sure know how that works, the SEC recognizes "co-champs". A lot of poking fun of Ole Miss happened after they hung that banner in the football stadium for Co-West SEC Champs. This OM baseball team, they really needed to win this series to stay on the right side of the hosting bubble. I agree with 3-3, has to be that in the last 6 to host. If Gunner is done for the season, it really doesn't matter if Ole Miss hosts or not... they won't make it out of a regional.
