  1. Those two games are the most interesting games on the schedule this weekend IMO. Picking A&M at home makes the most sense. If I were forced to bet on a winner in this game, I'd go A&M for the same reason. It's also a game I wouldn't feel good about betting either way. I'm sure rooting for Wake Forest to go undefeated just to see what the CFB committee does if that happens (Same with Cincy).
  2. Ignoring the score predictions- I think you have almost all of those correct. The two out of your predictions: A&M is riding that Bama win which is fair. Auburn is questioned about that Georgia State struggle win, also fair. You have it close which I agree, I just can't guess who wins this one and sure wouldn't bet on it. I'm rooting for Wake Forest, but this one has a UNC win written all over it to me. Should be a great game- maybe even multiple OTs. I lean UNC pulls this win out.
  3. Thanks to Dawg83 for getting this started. He mentioned last week he was hitting a busy time so I figured I'd keep it going. Mizzou at UGA- UGA favored by 39. Liberty at OM- OM favored by 9.5. Auburn at A&M- A&M favored by 4.5. MSU at Arkansas- Ark favored by 4.5. LSU at Bama- Bama favored by 28.5. UT at Kentucky- UT favored by 1. Florida at USC- FLA favored by 18. This non SEC game with a ranked team could be interesting: Wake Forest at North Carolina- UNC favored by 2.5.
  4. I expected State to be in the CFP rankings- around 22 or so. State is just hard to guess... 3 wins against ranked teams, loss to a pretty bad Memphis team, loss to LSU (LSU MAY have only 2 SEC wins this season when it's over), and was honestly lucky to get past La Tech (first game of the year, and those can certainly be tricky). With the 3 nice wins, 17 is fair enough... just a tad higher than I would have guessed. OM is about where I expected at 16, but I certainly could have seen them around 22 or so. 2 losses to #2 Bama and #13 Auburn (using current rankings, I've never liked using rankings at the time the game was played). 6 wins against unranked teams. (Again, I use current rankings so Arkansas doesn't count as of today). As Satch mentioned, a lot of changes will happen between now and the end of the season. Heck- just last week a lot of experts were predicting Kentucky or Ole Miss to a NY6 bowl. I've seen projections with Auburn to a NY6 bowl now- which may well happen. The "top 4" will change at least twice in the next 5 weeks- and sure could change all 5 times in the next 5 weeks. The humorous part, to me anyway... 9-0 Oklahoma is #8. I suppose the committee is tired of putting an undefeated Oklahoma team in the playoff only to have a boring blow out game.
  5. Losing always stinks, but I liked the effort from Ole Miss last night. Injuries and lack of depth, you just have to play near perfect to beat a team like Auburn when you have that going on. The OM players could have laid down when Matt went out injured, but seemed to step up and play even harder when that happened. My biggest concern for OM (other than depth/injuries... which you can't control/fix this season), PENALTIES. It's been going on the whole season, and against Auburn it was timely and bit OM in the butt. OM had a drive or two stopped due to penalties and Auburn had a drive or two extended due to penalties. Without these dumb penalties, the outcome was likely different. Liberty is next, and I'm sure Liberty will treat this game as their super bowl. No disrespect to Liberty/Freeze, but this is a game OM should easily win even with the injuries and lack of depth. IF OM comes into the game unfocused and also keeps committing timely dumb penalties, it will be a close game that could go either way.
  6. Ole Miss fans back to getting a dose of reality tonight. MSU fans back to excited about Leach.
  7. Itawamba beat Mooreville 70-36 last night. Itawamba is 9-1 overall and 5-0 in 4A Region 1.
  8. I would imagine the Vandy job pays a good bit more than the USM job. Even IF the pay was the same... both are very hard places to win but Vandy gets more national exposure so Vandy. Get Vandy to a bowl game for a short consistent time and you'll get a BIG job... like Franklin did at Penn State.
  9. Comfortable/ready... whatever it is, I agree.
  10. Me also. Plumlee has been in on some plays, but not near as much as I expected lined up in the slot/backfield to catch passes. Plumlee/Ealy are both HUGE playmakers in the open field with speed... plugging them into catching passes with the injuries sure make sense. At the same time, it's not the natural position for either player so maybe they're just not ready to make that step?
  11. Drummond has been very good this year. Dannis Jackson has shown some potential, maybe he's healthy and has a breakout game? Assuming Mingo/Sanders are out, let Snoop/Parrish handle most of the carries and have packages for Ealy as a receiver?
  12. This is the gameplan Auburn should go with. With the WRs injured at OM, it just makes sense. I don't see 400 passing yards (or even 300 passing yards) unless Mingo and Sanders are healthy this weekend.
  13. Rumors of Auburn defensive players being suspended. I'll be surprised if that's true.
  14. Vandy, and it's not close. 1. The education has been mentioned many times. 2. Even IF USM gets back to winning 7 games, a doormat SEC team like Vandy still gets more national exposure on TV for the players.
  15. Florida is such a weird team this year. IF they play like they did vs Bama- it should be a great game. If they play like they have lately, UGA in a blowout. UGA is favored by 14, I'd stay away from that line since Florida is so unpredictable. I definitely like Georgia to win, just not sure if it will be very close or a blowout. Vandy/Mizzou in the who cares game. Mizzou is favored by 16, I like Vandy to cover. I have a feeling Vandy picks up an SEC win somewhere this year- this is primed for that surprise Vandy win. I wouldn't bet on a Vandy win, but it wouldn't surprise me at all. Auburn is favored by 3 over OM. If Mingo and Sanders are still out along with Bo Nix having a good game... Auburn likely wins. The OM defense and RBs stepped up last week, they'll need to step up again this Saturday. I lean Auburn in a close one. Kentucky is favored by 1.5. From my very limited watching of Kentucky- they seem strong with running and short passes. This is a great matchup for the MSU defense. Unless Kentucky throws the ball ~8 yards or more a good bit, MSU will keep them in check. I'll also go with Michigan State in a close one. UNC over ND is an interesting upset pick. ND hosts so I'd go with them winning... but this should be a great game. I'll throw in Penn State at Ohio State. Ohio State is favored by 18.5, I like Penn State to cover.
  16. I think Lebby gets a HC offer this offseason. I don't think Texas Tech will nab him, but it's certainly a possibility he goes there. I'll be surprised if he doesn't get some type of HC offer like that though.
  17. Football only? Sure... but Ole Miss and MSU could likely be booted also from the SEC if we go down that road.
  18. IF Kiffin leaves Ole Miss for another CF HC job this year, LSU makes the most sense. I lean towards Kiffin's name is floated for the LSU job and Ole Miss gives him a fat raise (deserved and will happen either way) while LSU has Kiffin as a backup plan. If Kiffin takes another job, there is no telling who Ole Miss hires. I lean towards it won't be a current coach but IF it went down that way... I'd bet on Lebby over Durkin. Then again, Ole Miss has been known to promote the OL coach to HC during these times. HEY!
  19. B4, I started to go with CJ Johnson's number... since it's a sore subject for some MSU fans. Ha No doubt MSU's win over Vandy is a good win. While Vandy is bad, MSU handled the game easily. 39 point road win over an SEC team? Those don't happen often for Ole Miss/MSU type programs, those are reserved for Georgia/Alabama type programs. I hate to see that, once again, Ole Miss and State are playing at the same time next weekend. Ole Miss/Auburn and Kentucky/MSU should both be really good games to watch.
  20. It was nice to see Ole Miss retire Chad Kelly's number Saturday.
  21. Corral has been special this season, no doubt. I was impressed with the RBs yesterday taking some of the heat off Corral. Auburn has shown times of being a tough out this season and also has shown times of being average at best. Auburn is favored by 1 right now, should be a great game. A&M will also likely be a tough out. A&M looked like the team most expected them to be against Alabama. At other times, A&M has looked somewhat lost. I agree on Liberty also, tougher than most think. As long as Ole Miss plays focused and doesn't turn the ball over, depth should lead to Ole Miss pulling away in the second half. Ole Miss isn't deep for an SEC team, but deeper than Liberty. Vandy typically plays their best game of the year against Ole Miss. Like the Liberty game, take care of the ball and play focused and it's a win. The egg bowl is almost always a crazy game and it's in Starkville. Ole Miss has put themselves in a nice position to have a great season, we'll see how they finish.
  22. Chokelahoma is Chokelahoma, we all know who they are. It will happen soon enough... almost happened today.
  23. A&M is blowing out SC 28-0 at the half. Tennessee is hanging with Bama surprisingly. 21-14 Bama at the half.
  24. That should be a really good game to watch, that's all I'll comment for now until you start the Week 9 topic.
