  1. Stretch, shot in the arm, reaching for the stars, etc. I’ll take any of it. LOL!
  2. We were talking earlier about how if State gets to 6-6 it’ll be a good year. If State can get Dowdell, it’ll make an immediate difference in that trajectory. He’s an immediate day 1 starter and he would make more of a difference at Mississippi State. An 8 or 9 win season is extremely feasible with him in the boat.
  3. I remember when Dodd had him on varsity as a freshman. He was behind Cam Thomas, but you knew there was something very special about him.
  4. One he could fill and then some. We needed him against West Jones LOL!
  5. I’d really like to see him in Maroon & White. He’s such a great kid. Very well mannered and kind.
  6. Sorry that’s news to me too LOL! It’ll be interesting to see what happens.
  7. Well there's going to be a risk with any hire, doesn't matter what the credentials look like. Orange Beach is a brand new school and they started playing football in 2020. It was a bad year for him no doubt about that, but he was able to post a winning record with Orange Beach in 2022, so maybe he lost a lot of talent from that team.
  8. I don't think all of Boyles' assistants at Meridian would leave for Petal. This is high school football and some of that wouldn't be feasible. This is a hire that Meridian needs to get right, so if it takes time it takes time.
  9. That's just a round about way of saying that they are going to do the exact same thing next year as they did this year. The schedule should be pretty much the same with the home and away reversed. If they get the same results next year as they got this year, I'll be surprised. They didn't go get this coach so that they could be mediocre again. Will they be? It's possible, but I think the odds will be greater for them to get to 7+ wins than it will be for them to lay an egg and get less than 6 wins.
  10. Jeff Lebby doesn't need to perform miracles, he just needs to get State to playing good football again. (win or lose)
  11. I don't think that would necessarily qualify him for that, but to get to 6 wins would definitely be quite the accomplishment with all of the overhaul that will need to take place. The conference away games are brutal and so you can't count on those as wins, but if you can win all of the non-conference games and get a couple of the home games to go State's way, then it'll be mission accomplished. I think the main thing is can State consistently field a competitive team every week. That may not result in wins, but as long as State is fundamentally better it'll be a step in the right direction.
  12. That Central Phenix City is a juggernaut and just won a State Title this year. They were good long before he got there and he was winning at a high level there. He then went to Georgia and coached a couple of years over there in 2020 & 2021 before taking the Orange Beach job in 2022. This past season was his worst, but Orange Beach is a brand new high school as well, so they may have to build it up. This coach has been highly successful his entire career, so hopefully he can inject that high level of success into Biloxi. He’ll get thrown to the fire real quick here in Mississippi and there will be some hurdles in the way, but if you’re Biloxi this is hire to be excited about.
  13. He has 3 Alabama State Titles total. Two with Prattville and one with Central Phoenix City. Not a bad hire.
  14. He’s the one from Alabama that was at Orange Beach last.
  15. They'll need to find an Oasis quickly LOL!
  16. The fact that you are having to hold out for someone isn't very encouraging at all.
  17. You have to because West Point is a lot like Picayune in that they start learning that offense in Pee Wee. You can't get away from it.
  18. I'm hoping he can start doubling up with the rings. Get a MHSAA ring and a MAIS ring for each finger. How cool would that be?
  19. He needs to get that 10th MHSAA State Title before he makes that move. We can't leave a finger out LOL!
  20. Oh I know, I was trying to have some fun. But seriously though, Mike Leach started coaching his dad’s baseball team when he was just a little feller. Point being a good coach can coach just about any sport as long as they can motivate and get the best out of their players. Maybe this guy just has the intangibles to get it done.
  21. I know, right? The Stog was the Head Baseball Coach LOL!
  22. When did this occur? Did another program hire Bilderback away?
  23. Stanislaus is open and they went 9-2. Don’t really know who they will go after, but there’s a whole lot of programs that are worse off than they are. They used to always play us tough back in the day.
