  1. Uhhh no. All that trailer park can opening will be for naught. The Point City Invitational isn't too kind to those who aren't in West Point green.

And this is the Petal way folks. Old habits die hard. You don't need to recruit to win, you just need a winning culture. I personally cannot name a single starter from our '21 & '22 squads that was "Recruited". Picayune wins the old fashioned way and that's something I'm proud of.

https://www.hattiesburgamerican.com/story/sports/high-school/football/2014/10/10/petal-player-legal-battle/17017797/ There's a paywall with the link attached, but Petal has been down this road before with Poplarville. Lest ye forget.
  4. I just want to see how well they'll hold up by the time they have to play y'all. They've got a little bit of a gauntlet to deal with. I know y'all have the toughest schedule, but y'all are built to handle it.
  5. I think Petal will win, but it very well could be close. The schedule doesn't really get easier for Petal after this one. They've got to travel to Ocean Springs, Columbia, & Gulfport in consecutive weeks. Then they host Clinton and West Jones before starting district play on the road at Oak Grove and Brandon in consecutive weeks. Just staying intact is going to be the real challenge. Petal will probably take more losses than they want, but this is the nature of the beast. If Petal gets caught looking ahead along with the first game jitters, Hattiesburg can definitely steal one on the road. Both teams can play very well in this contest and still come up on the wrong end of the scoreboard.
  6. Great post PineBelter. You hit the nail on the head with this one. This is the type of schedule that should yield dividends in the post season. This is the right way to schedule and they still have 7 home games.

I don't think Louisville was sleeping. Poplarville just wanted it more. It was one of the best games I've seen in a long time.
  8. Why do you want more corrupt MHSAA involvement in things they got no business with in the first place? Really some strange takes here.
  9. It's not necessarily a phrase, but yes it's a Petal thing. Why do you think they brought Boyles back?
  10. Look at your second bullet in regards to relevancy. That's also some of those headwinds that he will have to face like I mentioned earlier. If Petal hasn't grown tired of losing to Oak Grove, that'll be news to me.
  11. This just proves the Oak Grove burn is real. If he beats Oak Grove I reckon he can ride off into the sunset LOL. It'll be like mission accomplished.
  12. Just to clarify - when I think of relevancy I think of being of a championship caliber. Boyles definitely faces some headwinds in 7A, but can he navigate them and for how long?
  13. I wouldn't be so quick to call Petal relevant again in football, but I agree with everything else. I just don't know how many more years they'll get out of Boyles.
  14. Where are the conference wins going to come from for State? I have a hard time wrapping my head around that. It's an extremely tough schedule and if you told me the opening game against USM would be a struggle for State, I'd believe you.
  15. Since everyone is so football antzy Slick, might as well get a preseason Slick10 poll started sponsored by Fortenberry's or Pasquale's or something like that.
  16. Dang Vott you're getting started early with the gameday threads. They ain't even put season tickets on sale yet LOL. Hattiesburg tends to struggle with Petal even though Hattiesburg won last year. I think you would have to lean toward Petal winning this one, but it could probably go either way. Gotta keep the mistakes to a minimum.
  17. It's not going to be a clean break for Joe Castiglione. He's going to hang on as AD Emeritus so he can train and hand pick his successor. Why would he need to do that if Oklahoma hires someone with a lot of experience? I would think they would give Selmon a call and I don't think he would be way down on the list either.
  18. Y’all got monsooned on in 2020, we got fried there in 2020, and we got monsooned on there two years ago. The lessons I’ve learned through all of that is the coolest part of their stadium is right where the concessions are and ponchos don’t seem to work there.
  19. And that thing that seems to always be missing ends up being something consistent. Take the abnormal weather for example LOL .
  20. Apparently there's some hype with Pascagoula as well. I think they'll be very good, but who do you trust to get it done? I feel comfortable putting West Jones over Pascagoula if the two meet up in the playoffs.
  21. It’s that week 6 bye. Games could very well be slim pickings that week. Hopefully Stone has a home game that week because that’ll knock out an obligation.
  22. We actually have a bye week this year. I won't know how to act LOL.
  23. We only have 10 regular season games this year and I feel like I'm getting ripped off LOL.
  24. On the bright side Wayne County should be very well rested by the time the playoffs start. They will have only played 9 regular season games.
