Guy that used to work with me in Hattiesburg was from the delta originally. I think he said Cleveland. And we were talking around the time they consolidated. I remember him saying that they had 2 or 3 school districts each with 6 or more employees making over 100k each in the district offices and the state was making them consolidate and there was all kinds of people big time mad. He said several family’s had generations in administration and they would lose those high paying jobs he it drops to1district. I also have people over in the mt olive area and any mention of them merging with Collins qthey will want to fight whoever said it like drunk red necks around a campfire insulting each others sisters.

Exactly. This area has been going to west forever but a small portion used to get bused to northeast jones to keep a certain percentage of minorities in each school. This practice ended 10-15 years ago and all these kids started going to west. Northeast jones great teams in the 90’s and their competitiveness in 2000’s is directly related to these kids. It’s also what led to west finally getting over the hump and into the stat title games in the last 6 years. At least 8 of wests starters including the big offensive stars are from this area. Interestingly enough laurel folk also believe about half this area should be going to Laurel despite it not being within city limits.

Brookhaven will win 5A south. But don’t be surprised if they are playing south jones in south state. Actually over the next 3-4 years don’t be surprised if south jones plays a couple south state games. If jones county goes through with this rumored te-drawing of lines to determine what kids go to what school northeast jones also will be a 5A power. While west jones will drop to 5A and be very average.

I think some were wanting him gone after last season but he was kept but on a thin rope and that loss snapped it. To be honest Jones has underachieved quiet s bit the last 10 years and it’s getting worse. All the football talent around here and these kids going to other juco’s that have never amounted to much and turning them around while jones flounders.

LOl. Earnest may want to run from the dumpster fire that is Laurel as fast as he can. That ship won’t be straightened in the next 2-3 years at least.
