Great to have her back. If she is healthy, she can be a dominant force. Agree with you that for the first time in three years, the WBB team is on stable footing and hopefully can progress back to what we were 3-4 years ago. Obviously that will not happen overnight. Both men and women teams seem to have a new energy and I think the fans will be excited to attend games again. Realistically, with new coaches, there are going to be some struggles. But as a fan, while I want to win , I will never be disappointed in our players when they are busting their tails every game. Granted it is only one game, but if this continues, it will be a fun season for each squad.

This one leaves me scratching my head. Very simply put, we lost to OG by one point and NWR by three points. Therein is the reason we are on the outside looking in. In the division, everyone plays the same teams. I am disappointed we did not make the playoffs but we were not cheated in any way.

In my growing up years, I remember hearing that it was difficult if not impossible for a team to play three straight high level games. Georgia has had two straight emotional, high level games (WLOCP and Tennessee). They passed both with A+ grades. The old three game analogy seems to have faded away these days (at least you don’t hear much about it). Talent wise , Georgia beats State probably 38-21 on any given Saturday. I agree with 83 that this game could be closer than the odds makers are predicting (16-17 point spread). Certainly I would not bet either way. State has not really played a full four quarter game yet (A&M and Arky were good wins but neither of those teams are very good this year). If the State team that played the first quarter and half against Auburn shows up for UGA, we will have ourselves a game. Can Georgia maintain the level of play of the last two Saturday’s a third time in a row? As 83 noted, until State proves we can beat a top flight team, you have take UGA here. I like Ole Miss to beat Bama. I know this Bama team is only 6 points away from being undefeated. But they are also only 6 points away from being 5-4. Think about that. Bama is coming off a very difficult and draining loss. Ole Miss had a week off to regroup. I like Ole Miss to win a thriller 38-35. LSU tries to blow it at Arkansas but manages to eek a win 24-23. TCU comes through again with a victory over UT-Austin 28-24. Just want some new blood in the playoff.

As of now they are better. Next week or by the end of the season, they may not be. Tennessee is an excellent team but it is possible that they have peaked out and their best games are fading in the rear view mirror.

Kermit is still a popular person in State circles. I think he is a terrific coach and person. But like Howland at State, he has gotten Ole Miss to a plateau but just has not been able to climb higher up the mountain. And granted the SEC mountain is very difficult in basketball. But REB you are probably right. If he does not make the the NCAAT this year, it will probably be it. And that will be a shame but it is reality in the current day.

I agree. While I loved Coach Howland and appreciate what he did, we just never got to the point of beating the LSU’s, Kentucky’s, Auburn’s, Tennessee’s. We lost so many close games that it eventually got mental. Jans is a refreshing change and he has seemingly resonated with the fan base from the very start. Under CRW and CRS we were always the mentally tougher team. Obviously we did not always win but that toughness was there until Sydney came along and we have never gotten back to that level that we had from 1990-2009. Now I have no idea how this team will perform but if the effort that was given in last nights game continues through the season, I think we will all be happy regardless of the record. And there is some talent on the team. Injuries will be an issue and in basketball they are going to happen. If Tulu stays healthy all season that will be a huge plus.

Ole Miss up 68-51 late over Alcorn state.

State ends game on a 55-24 run to start the Jans debut successfully 63-44. Texas A&M CC was actually a decent team. They were in the NCAA’s last year and predicted to win the Southland this year. Obviously, just one game but as we said Saturday night in football, a win is a good win regardless of who you are playing. Alcorn State hanging tough with Ole Miss early 18-15 but a long way to go.

Our offensive line was a huge question mark coming into the season. The group has been inconsistent at best. Terrible @ Kentucky and in the 4th quarter @ LSU. Struggled against Bama though they were not terrible. In other games , Arky, A&M they have been good. Last night they were good for about half the game which as it turned out was enough. Most likely they will struggle to block Georgia’s defense which is really good. But if we are to have any chance to win, they will have to win the LOS. On second thought, he may have a mental illness. He is a football coach and most of them have to have some mental issues to withstand the pressure of being a coach. His way to cope is to have a dry sense of humor. Fortunately we are the beneficiary of it. Oh and he is a pretty good coach too. 6-3 with three games to play is not a bad season to date.

Just goes to show you that football games are played on the field. Particularly this year with the transfer portal and the extra COVID year coming in to play. It has created opportunities for more upsets and more competitive games. Even with Georgia being the best team to this point in the season they are not invincible.

Just kind of curious where Cohen watched the game from last night? And if he traveled back to Auburn with the team or if he stayed in Starkvegas to continue moving his personal effects? Still seems a bit surreal how all that unfolded. Regardless, no hard feelings toward him. I appreciate the job he did at State which I think for the most was good. In general, may be this week everyone can get back to talking football.

Georgia is clearly better than anyone else. We have not played a full four quarter game to date. If the State team of the 1st quarter and half and last 3 minutes and OT shows up Saturday, we may have ourselves a game. If the team that played from midway the second quarter to four minutes left shows up, it will be ugly and bad. Bama & Ole Miss is intriguing. Wonder what the O/U will be? Not sure either defense will be able hold the other’s offense at bay much.

No doubt that was a bad loss but to their credit they have played well since that game albeit against much weaker competition. But still like Ole Miss, they have beat the teams on their schedule. And that is all you can do.

Liberty beating Arky not a total shock but still surprising. Arky is a weird team. Just not very good this year. Bizarre play helps Kentucky win but I guess it was the correct call by rule but it is hard to fault the Missouri player for tacking the punter. Notre Dame whips Clemson so the orange bubble has burst. And don’t look now, Oregon is quietly playing its way into contention for a playoff spot. If they win out, they will be in (IMO). Kind of pulling for Bo Nix. He was much maligned at Auburn but transferring was great decision for him.

I will never complain after a win but we sure made life difficult on ourselves tonight. First, I think we were moving on to the Georgia game in the second quarter. And it almost bit us in the ****. Second, credit to Cadillac and Auburn for the enthusiasm and playing hard. But Cadillac did show some inexperience with a couple of bad decisions. First, going for 2 when it was 24-12 was a bad decision. Then not taking the FG later that would have cut the lead to 24-15. The two late Time Outs were bit childish and they backfired when the kicker made three straight FG’s. The problem there is it killed all the momentum that Auburn from that point on. And karma bit them when they missed the FG in OT. Again glad for the win. I called LSU winning and was close on the score. Georgia looked really good and they beat UT way worse than the score indicated. No idea what happens at State next week. UGA should win big but this season has had some weird twists and turns. We will see what happens. On a down note, USM blew all the momentum they had earned from last week by getting blown out at home by a mediocre Georgia State team.

Liberty killing Arky I called that wrong completely. UGA dominating Tennessee. Not completely surprised but I thought UT would hang in there a bit better. Not to this point though.

I think Auburn is going to come out and play with a lot emotion but at the same time I believe State coming off the open week will play well. Auburn has had spurts of playing well but it has been sporadic. State’s run defense has been inconsistent too. Some games it has been excellent and then others very poor. I do think State wins but not necessarily cover. 35-24. LSU wins over Bama. Simply put this Bama is not the same Bama team from the recent years. Young is tremendous but LSU has been trending up and I think they get the win. 40-34. UGA wins over a hot Tennessee team. Tennessee is really good but Georgia is going to have just enough defense and offense to edge the Vols. 35-31. Florida-A&M play an ugly game that A&M wins 22-20. A&M leads 20-14 and UF scores a TD on the last play of the game. A&M blocks the XP and returns it for a two point score to win the game. UK beats Missouri in another fugly game. 16-13. Liberty hangs with Arkansas for a while but Hogs are too good and pull away for a comfortable 47-23 win.

If TCU wins out, they will be in. I would love to see Ole Miss beat Bama & Arky Bama beat LSU and Auburn but lose to OM UGA beat Tennessee but lose to State State beat Aub and the aforementioned UGA State and Ole Miss game would have a lot riding on it. Obviously, it is very doubtful that the above will happen but it would be kind of cool if it did. Lots of chaos if it did, though

I wonder if this is like when you leave your job at a bank. They lock your office up, disable your computer and you are gone from the premises as soon as you give the hierarchy the word you are leaving. Understandably since there is money involved at a bank, that is the case. But is Cohen already on the job in Auburn? Just a really odd set of circumstances around this whole charade. Hard to feel sorry for Harsin since he is about pocket $15 million. Auburn is beyond stupid.

Ironically it may be the opposite of what happened to the Saints years ago when they were 13-3 but had to travel to SEA who went 7-9 but because they win their division, got to host the first round of the playoffs. Biggest joke I have ever seen. Another reason I seldom watch the nfl these days (unless Dak is playing and even then that is sporadic). I do hear enough to know what is happening but just don’t watch a game these days. I do know all the NFCS teams are pathetic and the winner of the division will probably be 7-9 or maybe 8-8 at best. And get to host a playoff game to boot.

If somehow his deal with Auburn crashes and burns, then no doubt he needs to still resign at State. His credibility is completely gone.

Agree 100% there about WBB. Do think the new hire is going to be a good one. But the damage has been done.Although, I will give Doug Novak a lot of credit for keeping the program from going into a complete dumpster fire last year. What he did was amazing considering the circumstances. I know Schaefer stated reason was to be closer his aging parents (who live in Austin) and COVID was rampant at the time. That certainly masked any other darker reasons.

I would agree that Byrne is an excellent AD. He was not afraid to think outside the box. I am not sure if it what was him or Stricklin that changed the seating in the Hump. That was horrible and killed what used to be a very difficult arena to play in you were the visiting team. Why Auburn went after Cohen is a head scratcher though I think he has done a better job than some other State people. Our secondary sports are doing well these days and I think he does deserve some credit there. I have read that he and his wife were the reason that Schaefer left. I had never heard anything related to that over the last 2 1/2 years.

Ha Good one Reb. Wonder what his buyout at A&M is? The SEC AD circle jerk is a bit comical seeing these guys jump from one school to another. Ironically, it seems each AD had been progressively worse at their new school while bringing home more dough. I hesitate to say that they are actually doing anything to earn it.
