  1. Agree that it is sad about Hooker. He was having a great year. Hopefully, he will be good to go next year in the NFL. Vandy might beat Tennessee this weekend given the way the last couple of weeks have gone. That would have been unthinkable back on November 1st.
  2. Bama’s offense is simply not good this year. They had under 300 yards against State in Tuscaloosa. Ole Miss will play much better at home Thursday night. But it is a rivalry game so who knows what will happen.
  3. This is very true. Ole Miss will bounce back from this game and be fine Thursday night. Same thing happened in 2014 and we saw how that EB went.
  4. Quote “Can Vandy win two in a row? Florida is coming to Nashville after a big W over USCe. I would like to take Vandy over Florida. Yep, I am calling it. Vandy beats Florida 20-17.” But Reb, I did take Vandy to beat Florida!!! and was correct. Vandy playing decent football down the stretch.
  5. Illinois close but no cigar against Michigan. That should eliminate Michigan. TCU just put one more nail into Tennessee.
  6. Navy 17 UCF 14 Big win for the Midshipmen and a devastating loss for UCF.
  7. State taking care of business early 35-0 at the half. please get the starters out. Need Arky and Ole Miss to play 4 OT’s so they will be still worn out Thursday…LOL All kidding aside. Hate to see the tough weather conditions in Fayetteville. Here is hoping for no injuries during that game.
  8. A&M? I don’t see any other coach in jeopardy. That would be shocking because the buy out is 80-90 million dollars. Even A&M with resources they have will be swallowing a big bitter horse pill with that. Otherwise, nothing would be that shocking.
  9. Again the four year limit deal in MS is a good thing overall. As much movement as we have with Coaches these days, a coach rarely stays in one place longer than 6-8 years and often much less. Very few are 10+ in the present time. Doubtful that Alabama finds another Saban who will stay 15+ years. In the twenty five years between Bear and Saban, Bama had 7 coaches. Basically, the average tenure was 3 1/2 years. Transfer portal might as well apply to coaches these days.
  10. I like Ole Miss to win the game @ Arkansas. I know the weather is going to be a factor. But Arkansas has no offense and Jefferson is hurt. He certainly is a good QB but because of injuries, he has not been the same player he was last year. And you all are correct that this has been a WTF game over the years especially for Ole Miss. But this year OM takes care of business and gets the win. 24-20. USC, Oregon and Oklahoma State all win. It is tempting to take UMASS but they are so bad that even A&M should be less bad than them. Won’t they? Can Vandy win two in a row? Florida is coming to Nashville after a big W over USCe. I would like to take Vandy over Florida. Yep, I am calling it. Vandy beats Florida 20-17.
  11. Enterprise can enjoy a nice mint julip Friday night instead of playing football. Clarkdale too and Union as the whole Division garnered a big fat zero, Ofer in the playoffs.
  12. Agree with Auburn hiring Cohen. Still a head scratcher for me. Though, I still admit to being blindsided as I did not know all the discontent with him amongst State people. I have a cousin who lives in ATL and is a Bama fan who told me “he was shocked as he saw Cohen being interviewed on SEC Nation a few weeks ago and thought he was perfectly happy at State.” Goes to show you, you just never know. It is possible he will be decent there but I could see the same thing happening to him as what has happened to Stricklin at UF. The grass is not always greener on the other side except in your pocket book.
  13. Mississippi is at least ahead of the rest in this situation. State law prohibits contracts longer than four years. Which IMO is the perfect balance. It gives the coach a reasonable amount of security while protecting the college from a ridiculous pay out if they fire the coach. Giving a coach a 10 year contract is asinine. Beyond stupid. I realize in Saban’s case, I get it but there is no way he will still be coaching in 2030. A&M, Michigan State and others are beyond dumb.
  14. It can and has worked. I thought we did some decent things tonight but we are still missing a few pieces for the air raid to work at a higher level. Rogers is a good QB but if he was just a bit mobile he could really be good. Not run like Fitz or Dak but be able to run just a few times a game to keep the defense honest. I think we have a decent group of WR’s but not an elite one or two that could stretch the field deep or take a quick out and go for a big gain. A couple of crucial drops hurt tonight. As I noted we were long shots to win the game but we had some opportunities to make it closer, aside from the calls/non calls in the first half.
  15. Back in the summer when everyone was looking at our schedule, I think most concluded that 7-8 wins was about what this team would do. Losses to Bama, Georgia Toss up games A&M, UK, LSU, Arky, OM Wins-Auburn and the OOC games And it has played out just about like that. 2-2 in the toss up games with one to play. We will see how it ends.
  16. Well Georgia was going to win anyway but they certainly got some assistance along the way to make it easier. This coming from someone who defends the officiating for the most part.
  17. Plus I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Jim Ellis and Coach Williams call the game on the radio. CRW is so knowledgeable about the game. He has great insights in to the game. He also warned us about Arkansas-Pine Bluff. They lost OT to TCU by one. Lost to Okie by 8. They are a decent team.
  18. and uconn blew Freeze’s audition for a SEC gig today. 36-33. uconn? The Vanderbilt of New England…well UMASS is worse but you all get the picture.
  19. Game has settled down some. Looks like it will come down to the wire.
  20. Vandy breaks through with a 24-21 win over Kentucky. Kentucky is definitely a WTF team this year. Won @ Florida beat State @ Home but loses to USC and Vandy at home
  21. WOW did you all see the stadium in Fayetteville. LSWHO and R-Kansas may not be a sure W for the Red Stick Bengals.
  22. State 73 Akron 54 final Good win against another NCAAT team. Long way go but two games in, State is playing hard on the defense end. Tonight shooting was better as well. Go Dawgs!!!
  23. State 65 Akron 47 5 minutes left playing very well so far in the second half.
  24. Auburn beats A&M. Auburn under Cadillac Is having fun playing again. A&M looks like the kid sucking on a lemon. I think they just want to get the season over with. Tennessee beats Missouri but it is not a shellacking. South Carolina beats Florida…well just because…heck I don’t know…. 83, the SEC football schedulers are a bunch of morons. It has been 12 years since Georgia came to State, we have not been to Gainesville since 2010 (not that I ever care I go back there) . Had a great time in 2010 with the victory but the campus and town are blah. And with expansion, the 2025 visit may get moved back some more. Georgia fans generally travel well plus like you said, a lot of fans enjoy traveling to the various campuses. Attendance has taken a hit for sure. Glad to see this is a hard sellout. I know we have not had SO’s this year but all of the crowds have been 50K+ with the exception of BG. So I think we are trending up after getting zapped like everyone else during COVID along with the general disinterest in CFB around the country.
  25. Wiley Peck from the late 70’s was known as the “Chairman of the Boards” Great player and rebounder. Kentucky’s Tshiebwe reminds of Wiley Peck. Strong as an ox and has a nose for the basketball when it comes off the rim.
