  1. I looked at Oregon baseball schedule and RPI. Pretty similar to State. We are slightly higher than them across the board. I think we will host but it could be tight decision.
  2. Yep. I actually cut the TV off and went to bed. Thought I was I seeing a misprint this morning when I saw the score. Heck of a win for USM. Just hope they are not using up all of their good karma too soon.
  3. Lady Dawgs take down Oklahoma 11-9 with a huge comeback win. One win away from the WS. I will say this, our girls have some grit. Down 4 runs and they did not throw in the towel. That pick off at 1st to end the fifth inning was the turning point. Our girls got some momentum from that and were not going to be denied.
  4. I am definitely a half glass full fan. But I am pragmatic as well. The first year for any HC is going to have some hiccups. I am still excited about our team and the future. Compared to 2022-25, we are night and day better. Oak is an elite coach and this year we have seen just a small sample of what his teams are capable of doing and we will continue to get better. As you noted, Regionals and SR’s are a crap shoot. You never know how they are going to turn out.
  5. I predict we win our Regional and lose in a Super Regional. Why? Generally speaking we have beaten teams worse than us and lost to teams better than us. And I don’t see that changing now.
  6. Not much to say. State did not play badly but Georgia was just a bit better again. Story of State’s season. Against the better teams we are competitive but not quite as good as them. But when the Regionals start, everyone is 0-0.
  7. We could have won all three games against UGA in the regular season but obviously did not. I would like to see us win today just for the simple fact that we need a win. We will see how it goes (weather permitting).
  8. Certainly couldn’t ask for a better start for State. A seven inning run rule game with minimal pitching utilized. I don’t care to win the whole thing but one or two more wins would be nice. Maybe move us a notch or two.
  9. Mizzou-State. Doubt anyone had that on their bingo card. Need to win this game IMHO.
  10. Well there was an Applebees in the Burg but it closed a few years back. Rumors have floated about a new location opening up but nothing has materialized to date.
  11. State with a 5-0 win over St. Mary’s. We will be heavy under dogs at Oklahoma but in a three game series you never know. Regardless, it is great to win a Regional. Go Lady Dawgs!!!
  12. Ricketts has done a great job. Yes the SEC is off the charts superior in softball yet she has had us competitive in the seven years she has been the HC. We are up 2-0 in the fifth inning. If we can finish it off we will be playing at Oklahoma. But first things first. We have got to get six more outs with the shutout in tact.
  13. St. Mary’s beat Oregon last night so State plays them this evening in a Championship game… Let’s Go Lady Dawgs!!!
  14. And in softball, Lady Dawgs no hit Oregon to go 2-0 in the Regional. Obviously we will still most likely have to beat Oregon but nonetheless a good start to postseason play. And Ole Miss blows an 8-0 after they had two outs and two strikes in the bottom of the 7th inning. That really stings. Ouch.
  15. I don’t think State’s season has been a disappointment. Generally speaking the first year for any coach and players is going to see some struggles. We are a top fifteen team. Nothing more or less. We were never a top five/ten team from the get go. In other words we were overrated preseason. Now there is still opportunities in front of this team going forward. And we will see where it goes from here.
  16. Not surprising. That each series will come down to a rubber game. State has to be able to win shootout tomorrow. Ole Miss is in pretty good shape IMO. I think they win against Bama. USM is in cruise control and should sweep.
  17. That might be a record, at least, in SEC play. I am sure it would be difficult to quantify though. And yes there were a few ground balls that found holes but just about every hit ball was squared up. Maybe one or two cheap hits but that was about all. Just need to keep it up. They can swing the bats so runs hits/runs will need to be maxed out for us.
  18. Weird game for State but I am always good with a win. 13 runs in one inning… And yes we had to play two more innings but our pitching is still in good shape. Ole Miss let one get away but I still think they can win the next two. USM will sweep unless they just play a terrible game which I don’t see happening this weekend.
  19. USM seems to be taking care of business here late in the season. You cannot control the schedule with respect to how your opponents perform. Ole Miss-Bama is a huge series as well. I like Ole Miss to win two of three. Bama is good but I think their ranking/RPI is higher than the team is actually on the field. They have lost 17 games so they are not unbeatable at all. And then it goes without saying that State@A&M is another big series. Most likely will be a 2-1 series and represents a great opportunity for State to steal one on the road where we have surprisingly played better in the conference this season. State was 7-8 at home in the conference which is befuddling at best. Who says the regular season does not count… Georgia-Auburn should be really good as well!
  20. I said before the season I did not think we were a top five/ten team. Much improved over last year and a top twenty/fifteen perhaps team, for sure. We are capable of beating any team in the country in a given game but we are not consistent enough to win a series against the top tier teams. All that to say I am still excited about this team and look forward to playing at A&M and seeing how we fare against them. Realistically one win is probably what we will get but two would sure be nice. After that we will see how it goes.
  21. Reese had the big hit but him getting out on the play killed our momentum and seem to give life back to Auburn. Nonetheless it was a well played game by both teams. Our pitching should be in good shape tomorrow especially if McPherson can give us 2-3-4 innings (depending on the pitch count and how he performs). Don’t know Auburn and what they have left. I suspect it will be a close game. Lets Go Diamond Dawgs!
  22. Davis pitches well but it seems he finds a way to throw one beach ball that turns out to be costly. State with three outs left to try to tie or win it.
  23. Excellent win for State. Really played well and took great advantage of our opportunities especially in the first inning. That dang Chance with back to back grand slams in conference play. Let’s Go Diamond Dawgs!!
  24. I think you throw your best arms one day early. Honestly, I don’t see that being a problem. Each is getting 5 full days of rest. Many years ago MLB starters were pitched every fourth day. These guys are 19-20-21 years old. Fatigue should not be a problem. I am curious to see if McPherson pitches a little this weekend. It would seem possible that he might throw an inning or two if the circumstances dictate it. 83, I am not quite as high on Auburn as you are. Yes they are an excellent team but they do have 14 losses and have the same conference record as State. I think it will be two of three series that could go either way. They are not unbeatable by any means. And I think our bullpen will bounce after a rough inning on Sunday. Ole Miss needs to win two and I think USM sweeps. Alabama took a crucial loss last night losing to Troy. They could be teetering on losing out on a host bid. They are @SCAR (who is no longer an automatic win) and then Ole Miss at home (which will be a tough series as each will be battling for a host spot). We will see how the weekend shakes out. In a way I am glad State is playing a THU-SAT series. A&M has a FRI-SUN series so that could work to our advantage next week.
  25. Well it gets overlooked but your OOC games count. State was 23-2 this year in OOC games. Only two losses were one run games (UCLA-neutral) and (USM-road). Both games were very winnable as well. Very impressive and as Coach mentioned earlier, teams around the country were canceling games tonight because of RPI. Our players wanted to play and did against a good Nichols team. Yes the SEC games are the most important but you better take care of these early season and midweek games too. They all count in the record at the end of the regular season. And they definitely affect the potential to host a Regional and/or a SR. So job well done by the Diamond Dawgs!
