You can use this page http://www.calpreps.com/cgi-bin/2023/project_matchup.pl to project a game's probable outcome but their algorithm won't be super accurate until a few weeks into the season. Even then the points scored won't be on the money, but the spread is usually pretty close.

Might be moving out of ICU today

PLEASE PRAY FOR MRA FOOTBALL COACH HERBERT DAVIS Photo by Robert Smith Story by Robert Wilson Please pray for MRA head football coach Herbert Davis. He is battling an infection and is in ICU at Baptist Hospital in Jackson. MRA associate head coach and defensive coordinator Danny White will replace Davis as head coach while he is out. MRA opens the season Thursday at Parklane in McComb. Davis is starting his 27th season as head coach and has won 231 games and six state championships, three at MRA, two at Brookhaven Academy and one at Pillow Academy. He is the only football coach in Mississippi history to take five schools (MRA, Brookhaven Academy, Pillow, Heritage and Winston) to state championship games.

With more kids looking to make $$$ with NIL paydays, these kinds of showcases are probably soon to be a thing of the past. -

New Heat rules by MHSAA affecting practices?
s1nglewing replied to Wareaglefan1us's topic in Football
This, like many other "rules", is the product of fear of litigation. MHSAA is simply covering its hindquarters just in case someone gets hurt. Then the finger can be pointed elsewhere. -
FSU and another TBD is my bet

Having thought more about this - I think a better solution, since the two coaches were found to be at fault by MAIS, would be to more strongly sanction them and the school's administration who allowed (and possibly encouraged) their behavior knowing beforehand that this is a violation of MAIS rules. The players weren't a party to the violations but are paying the highest price of anyone... and they are not to blame.
-
The MAIS fined the school $7500 and banned the coaches from being, I assume, on the field or in the press box, or in the locker room at games... but allows them to coach at practice. IF Hartfield retains them. Kinda late to make changes to a coaching staff, but since the season is rather shot, it might be a thing to do.
