  1. It's a done deal
  2. Not disputed. 60 football playing AHSAA private schools and 21 11-man football teams in AISA, not including 8-man in AISA and in the Christian conference or the 6-man private school teams unaffiliated with either AHSAA or AISA. Do you have a point?
  3. There are 60 football playing private schools in AHSAA; 21 in AISA.
  4. I figured there had to be a qualification based on the entire history of the program. No football coach who coached more than three years at Caledonia (in the history of the school) has left with a winning record; however, Coach Kelly won more than them all.
  5. I guess that depends on your definition of what a "great stretch" is.
  6. Weather postponed, I assume
  7. What does that even mean?
  8. State looks like a one player train wreck when that one player isn't hitting 30 ppg. One dude can't carry a team in the SEC
  9. I read today that the private schools in AL are having an all-hands Zoom meeting on Tuesday to discuss options to A. Sue, B. Leave for AISA, or C. Start their own association.
  10. I believe MHSAA has nine private schools (Tupelo Christian Prep, French Camp, Piney Woods, Presbyterian, Sacred Heart, St. Stanislaus, Out Lady Academy, St. Patrick, and Resurrection), so the new AHSAA model would definitely not work in Mississippi. The impetus for the Alabama move was the perceived athletic disparity between private schools and public.
  11. I wonder if AISA or MAIS will gain a little more membership because of this. AISA only has 21 eleven-man teams and has been on death's knell for the last few years.

    Biloxi

Eric Collier is Biloxi's new HC
  13. So I've coached in several states and some pay quite nicely. My Mississippi gigs, every time, meant teaching maybe 2 classes not including weightlifting or PE... supplement about 5k for HC plus 1-2k for powerlifting/track/golf or whatever. One place I got a nice little envelope with $5000 cash in it right before Christmas that said "Thanks" from the booster club. Alabama paid better and had a coach's house, so that was an add-on. Country Club membership, and butts in the stands commission (meaning I got a cut from attendance on home games). When I was in Florida I got the butts commission, 50% of football/weightlifting fundraisers, was paid more than the superintendent, and was gifted a brand new truck titled in my name... it was a Ford... but it was free. One of my previous assistants is a DC in Georgia now making 120k with a paid for truck and a rent-free 2400 square foot house (with a pool, too). What's Mississippi's best offering it's coaches nowadays? Not just a paycheck - nobody does that anymore except teeny tiny schools
  14. I've heard that FT's go for 250k a pop nowadays
  15. Some states allow unlimited transfers as long as the student can get to school, regardless of location. For instance, Choctawhatchee in Fort Walton Beach, Florida this season had several transfer starters from Pensacola - two counties away. Potential litigation moves things nowadays more than what is fair.
  16. Big dog @ 2A; Lhasa Apso in 5A
  17. My understanding is that North Tippah won't be a thing until the 2027 season
  18. Now to the too early Ole Miss vs. Miami chatter lol
  19. He's fast, no doubt... and that run smoked the DBs.
  20. Have you ever heard the phrase about "biting off more than you chew"?... or "Your eyes are bigger than your stomach "? If he turns Meridian around, then he's a better mentor than most. Heckuva challenge
  21. That was a one-off. It's being revised.
