  1. Past hour
  2. I am going to say there are more than 34 schools at are around 1,000 students. Mt Olive people will fight it all the way until building crumbles. You can’t blame them. I wonder if the legislature is doing this to scare a few more school districts to consolidate.
  3. Today
  4. Well, it official now. 5 SEC teams after Alabama and Oklahoma advanced today. May as well refer to it as the "Hoover Invitational". At least 1 SEC team in the championship, since a whole side of the bracket is all SEC. I think Ole Miss has a good chance too, from the other side. Georgia / Texas vs Ole Miss?
  5. and that state super is grossly overpaid
  6. Agee has not tried to recruit any kid from Mize Gray or Agee. He has no knowledge of anyone trying to convince anyone to come to Taylorsville. He was asked by someone in the community if the guy transferred back to Taylorsville could he play and he said yes. People was trying to get him to report the kids that live in the district that goes to others schools but wouldn’t do it. He speaks highly of Coach Maddock and always says how he helps him with the AD stuff. As for the guy he knows him because he works with Agee wife. He has never asked him to recruit any player.
  7. If they really want to save money, put a cap on the ridiculous amount of money that superintendents make.
  8. Mmmm… I wouldn’t count youth football as recruiting. A lot of times the parents themselves take a liking to who coaches their kids the best and/or develop the best rapport over the years. Once they’re in high school and rules start being broken, that’s a different story.
  9. Hattiesburg going after any kid that has any family in Hattiesburg they could live with or use address of. Statewide at that. Other coaches starting to complain. They better stay out of the jackson area 7A schools. Trying to pull to many from there they will get mhsaa on ya.
  10. Possibly. They made a lot of really bad hires in administration for a few years and that’s set them way back. You can’t lose your school. Once the school goes, the town eventually goes too. And it’s almost impossible to ever restore it
  11. And? If it’s not such a big deal your school wouldn’t be using it as a recruiting tool
  12. Taylorsvilles downfall may have been somewhat orchestrated from within its own district.
  13. Laurel been using their youth league the same way to get kids from jones, Wayne and jasper counties. Laurels most recent big 3 o linemen that went to the sec all should have been at west jones. One of their wr’s should have been northeast jones. Couple d linemen from Wayne county. Actually laurels d line/strength coach was their big “recruiter” and he just left them for Wayne county. Corey Reynolds now on Laurel staff as o line coach. Also rumors they hired jack hankins. Kids are trying to bail on Laurel now. As I said earlier, most of the kids are invtext and chat groups with each other. I have seen screen shots of the conversations. They do talk to each other and try to te riot each other. As soon as one finds out they have relatives in the other district whims address they can use its game on. Laurel kids know the stuff that happened behind the scenes at WJ at they are trying to get out of they can. Kids trying to get out of northeast jones as well. I know at least 2 Hattiesburg was after from o saw in the screenshots. A few other specific cases I know of as well. The kids recruit each other more than coaches do
  14. We're talking about peewee ball... that's wild smh.
  15. Everybody knew Tristan Keys was gonna be the next big thing when he was in Pee Wee.
  16. Talking about the dude that does the Tik toks? I think he’s from Magee. I know he does a lot of content for different teams but I know he does a lot of videos for Taylorsville.
  17. I guess ill have to check out a 5th/6th grade football game out this fall and see if the next Tristen Keys is out there. Lol
  18. Youth football in Mississippi has become an absolute circus with recruiting. It’s digusting what these “adults” are doing to a child’s game.
  19. There are some that you know will be studs. And yes they absolutely do recruit them. At Hattiesburg they even find houses for them at good prices to move to, and even try to find jobs for their parents. And there’s nothing illegal about that. As long as the player moves into the district, it’s fine. But there are some of those kids that move into the district initially, then eventually move back out of the district but keep going to school at Hattiesburg.
  20. I dont believe getting 5th 6th graders from youth leagues is recruiting. Kids that age arent truly developed and you cant tell whether or not he will be good in high school
  21. They use their youth league to do alot of recruiting. Them, oak grove, and Columbia had been doing it for a while. Scott central used to do it too, they poached alot of players from Forest. That’s when Scott central got really good in 2A and won some state championships and Forest was suffering for a little bit. Forest now has kind of put the clamps on it.
  22. The kid from north Forrest is a RB, and they recruited him 2 years ago.
  23. He went to school in Taylorsville in elementary school, but he stayed in trouble and was always being suspended and failing class. The superintendent at that time then made him go to Mize, hoping it would give him a fresh start and help the kid. Well it worked. He became a better student, made better grades, and got in less trouble. He was a really good young athlete. Agee has been trying to convince him to come back to Tville for a couple years. But this last year as a true freshmen he was upset that he wasn’t playing as much as he thought he should be playing and started telling everybody he was gonna go back to Tville, and he is. He’s not been to any practices because I think he may be playing travel baseball but you will see him eventually. As for the other players he’s tried to recruit from Mize, it’s our best player Gray and our QB/LB Agee. He’s also buddies with a guy from Magee that’s also tried to recruit those players for him. This guy (his friend) has been trying to convince different players to leave Mize for a couple years with no success, mostly to Simpson academy, including my son who will also be a senior next year, and that I would never allow to happen anyway. Kind of disappointed to see it happen, because our head coach has always liked Agee and has a lot of good things to say about him. But I guess that’s what high school sports has become now. Everybody recruits now I guess.
  24. Yesterday
  25. Day 1 bracket for Omaha is set: West Virginia vs Troy Ole Miss vs North Carolina I don’t see Troy as a threat to make it out of that but they could definitely win a game or so. Feels like the OM/UNC winner is going to be the favorite, but don’t discount West Virginia’s chances either. You’d much rather be on that side of the bracket than the side that’s got Texas and Georgia in it.
  26. I think the pitching will improve and while the firepower will be down a bit I think we will be a good offense team next year as the season moves along.
  27. Don’t see how they could match the firepower of this years lineup. We’ll probably take a step back there. The big thing is landing another reliever or 2. Bauer’s development is a huge piece of next year too. He showed flashes near the end but was inconsistent
  28. Will be interesting to see what the lineup looks like on opening day next year. At least 6 of the 9 guys that started all five postseason games for State will not be back. A lot of Lemonis holdovers in that group, it will be a different looking team come February, with some names like Parker, Valincius, and McPherson likely needing to be the centerpieces moving forward.
