Overweight i would agree. But ive seen officials in their 50s and 60s who are in great shape.
-
Ive been on the sidelines at Hattiesburg games before and have heard an official ask another official about a rule interpretation on a play because he wasn't sure.
-
who is the fourth team in regions 3 and 4? Region three loses Thomas E Edwards. So I"m assuming they just keep their four? Region four would lose Aberdeen and Nettleton here. So Noxubee, Winona and Choctaw remain. Who's the fourth team?
-
Sideline room is tight at PRC as well. I think it’s compliant, but it’s tight like it is at Purvis.
-
I am just saying an older overweight person doesn't really needing to be running the sidelines on a deep out pass or run down the sidelines. I haven't really seen one myself.
-
I think the rulwme is like 10 ft from sideline to fence.
-
Were all 41 accepted penalties? If not there was more than 45. I know of about 5 that were declined
- Yesterday
-
National record for penalties in a game is 45 WJ and Hattiesburg had 41, plus one that was waved. Plus the 2 no calls for 12 men on the field
-
that true
-
He had it going on til the QB got hurt. sounds familiar
-
Why would a young guy know nothing?
-
should have been gone 2 or 3 years ago, been holding Florida State back all this time.
-
Here's the thing about officials. Would you rather have an older veteran official who more than likely knows the entire rulebook backwards and forwards or a younger less experienced one who probably doesnt know everything. Especially with playoffs coming up
-
I agree but again they are having a hard time getting officials. Purvis has a very nice facility the issue is just sideline room
-
I think there is a plan in place for a new Purvis stadium. That should help later. As for age of refs they don't need to be on the sideline judges once you get past a certain weight and age. If you can't see well you don't need to be there either.

GSIAA Begins Accepting Applications Next Week

I would want to know what is in it for me. My guess is now that reclassification process is under way in Mississippi that both MAIS and MHSAA will want compensation for a team leaving. One big advantage could be playing on the coast and less playoff travel other than down I-10 & 98. -
I am thinking now that: 1 Nettleton goes to Region 1 with 6 schools 2 Region 3 and 4 will have 4 teams each. 3 Region 5 and 6 will have 6 teams each. 4 Region 8 will have 4 football teams and OLA. 5 Otherwise both Union to Region 4 and St Andrew's to Region 3 are possibilities.

Norvell out at Florida State.

Enterprise dominated the 1st quarter and a half. You didn’t dominate the game. Once we stopped the ISO in the 2nd quarter, we had the game. We lost our best offensive lineman last week to an injury, and it hurt us. EC’s defensive line whipped us up front for most of the game. The 2nd half we were definitely the better team. This was the 3rd straight week our defense pitched a shutout, and enterprise was averaging close to 28 points per game.

One thing about the crew Friday is the officials were to old and out of shape to keep up with the speed of the game. I know I’m 61 and overweight but I’m not trying to call games either. I also know there’s nobody signing up to be officials. So I guess it’s a problem you have to get use to. You would think the assigning secretary would know who was playing and send some officials that can handle the game

They called two sideline warnings on Purvis within the first few minutes and penalized them. I guess they got paranoid and called two on us shortly after. There was no room for anyone to stand. I think both hits were clean but the Purvis player left his feet with his head down he was so short, It knocked Isiah's helmet off and he hit the ground. The white hat and the other officials instantly started looking at our sideline . One of our asst coaches said something to white hat and white hat mouthed back . Then it escalated from there I cant help but think the ref had a history with our coach because it seemed personal The whole environment was caused by them not paying attention to what was happening on the field. Purvis came in pushing the edge anyway and when the refs didn't reign it in the kept getting more bold and late with it. They should have reigned it in. Pound called several time outs all game refocusing the team. They called four of five of our TDs back and IDK how many first downs. They called another sideline warning later in the game and said it was our first with no penalty. Second half of Vancleave and now these last two the opposition is doing whatever they can to stop play and keep our offense from fast breakng them. The first quarter took right at an hour to play last Friday with refs meeting for long stretches. I hope nobody draws that crew in the playoffs

Go find the WJ/H’burg game on YouTube and watch it and count the flags. It was over 30 total. I saw 2 clips from yalls game from behind endzone of 2 hits. One that should have been targeting on our is but wasn’t flagged. I think that’s the one where the wc coach got ejected. And one that was flagged on wc but I don’t think it was targeting. May have been. But for sure was not as egregious as the one that should have been called on purvis.

Purvis has a very nice facility. The only problem is there are no sidelines it’s very tight to say the least. Last Friday the officials were more worried about the sideline than what was happening on the field. A good game for an officiating team is one when nobody realizes you’re there. Friday they became the main focus. There was a call early on that got a lot of attention. For the record I thought it was a clean hit. WC had an assistant coach get ejected and we were not on the field to say what was said to cause it but it happened. But I’m not sure the number of penalties or the yardage but it was crazy it seemed almost every other play. This had nothing to to do with Purvis or officiating on most Friday nights. But on last Friday night it was bad.

You’d have to attract a bunch of schools to make it worthwhile for people to jump. It wouldn’t make sense to join a new organization with only a handful of members.

Indiana has used just about all of their nine lucky rabbits. State’s only breaks have been bad breaks as in injuries. Defense actually played well last night. Held Texas to 60 yards rushing. If we can find a way to scratch out a win against Vandy, I think all of our mindsets will be better. Can’t fault the effort as our guys are playing hard. Ole Miss did what I expected. Game stayed close for a half and then pulled away in the second half.
