  2. The only way we can openly save the 7 classes and 10 game schedules is to schedule one week out of the year that 4A-1A schedule 1 MAIS opponent. Enough of this 10 schools every Friday with an open date. 8 or 9 game MHSAA schedules already killing the bank accounts of schools.Otherwise we go back to 5 or 6 classes. Then if you have 150 kids in high school and or 55% boys to 45% girls you either play football or play a consolidated county football team especially in 1A NE MS.
  3. Today
  4. First off.. how many games did keys play last season??? Second: our wr corp will be vastly good this season and as a whole maybe even better than last season. Third: I'm not taking anything away from a spring game. Fouth: there's about 2/3 players you dont know about like young from last season that will make a name for themselves this season. I'm not expecting hhs to go out and embarrass petal at all but from a talent standpoint I think we will be the most talented team in 6a south by far.
  5. HHS didnt beat Laurel or Biloxi by 3tds last season with what we had last season. Did beat Meridian pretty bad last season, but I got a feeling Meridian may be very much improved this season.
  6. Not looking at the Petsl and Oak grove games yall and them tend to beat the snot out of each other regardless how good or bad one may be any given year. But if yall do not beat Laurel, Biloxi and Meridian by 3 touchdowns each then you some concern about the state of the offense would be warranted.
  7. Yes and no. That HHS defense with the exception of 2 DBs was consisting of mainly sophomores and 1 freshman. The DLine should and I say should be the strongest part of the team this season. Did get a 3star DB from Brandon who is a better baseball player than a football player. His father was named the HHS head baseball coach back in May so that replaces one of the DBs we lost last season. Offensively HHS returns the QB the starting RB and our no.3 and no.4 WRS from last season are now No.1 and No.2 this season with Plump already having multiple D1 offers including LSU. And their is no doubt the Oline will have to grow up very quickly. Playing the likes of Petal Laurel Oak Grove Biloxi and Meridian in non region will only help them get better. Plus them practicing against the Dline everyday will help as well.
  8. No team in this state can loose a wr the caliber of Keyes and not feel it at least a bit. And then you lost young who would have been a great number 1 wr for every team that did not have Keyes on it. I refuse to believe your wr corps is as good as the past 2 years. You, yourself said you lost the entire o line. In that spring game Heidelberg made the o line look small (by normal Hattiesburg standards) slow, and a bit silly. Not one team in the current 5A or 6A south has been able to win the South 3 consecutive years out of the last couple decades. There have been a handful winning 2 out of 3 years or 3 out of 4, but none did it consecutively (and the ones that hit close all won at least 1 state title). It won’t start with Hattiesburg this year.
  9. We didn't lose as much as you think. Outside of the oline we're set at every position.
  10. Thevwinner of west jones and Hattiesburg will win that region. This is the case every year and will likely remain so for a while. Doesn’t matter if both them are 4 win or 8 win teams at the time of that game.
  11. will either team be able to maybe win 7 games or more and make a run at a region title?
  12. Sorry, but breaking in an entire new o line will take more than 1 quarter. Probably more than a couple games. Hattiesburg, as much as yall don’t want to accept, are not to the point of reloading immediately after loosing a large group of talented 3 year starters like you just had graduate. And the coaches know it or they would not have been openly recruiting so much this offseason trying to quickly piece together a team they think might be capable of winning.
  13. I’m sorry but yall do not beat Petal enough for you to talk like this lol. Even when you’re prob supposed to.
  14. 7 classes have given us 5 team regions with 1-9 records making the playoffs. With all the open dates this year its going to be some 1-8 records in the playoffs. Right now in 2A you have 4 team regions all 4 in the playoffs and yes 0-10 goes as a 4 seed. In 1A north you have appx 10 nonfootball schools out of roughly 24 or so. That means you have 6 team regions with up to 3 non football teams in the region. Somewhere 1 seeds get buys now. 1A set up has to change or simply go back to 4 regions maybe 6 regions if it can be worked out fairly. With 6 there will be some buys. At least those schools get back to 10 game seasons and not 8 game seasons. 6 classes were better. 5 classes is probably where we need to be even if it leaves 3 teams per region at home. And now we have coaches that won't schedule certain teams or certain coaches for what ever reason. Like Forest dropping Raleigh or Bay Springs dropping Raleigh because the excuse was in Spring of 25 that Raleigh players hurt us then you schedule a team 3 hours away. Coaches have got to get tougher in some areas. Consolidation is or will happen over time. Nothing you can do but grow your county or your town.
  15. So what happens when you leave the door cracked open for Boyles? I certainly don’t think he’s just going to stand outside and twiddle his thumbs.
  16. HHS will struggle in the 1st qtr new faces offensively, a new OLINE.
  17. Vott, beating someone from start to finish would be a wire-to-wire win. I think that’s what he meant there.
  18. I am very curious to see how opposing DC’s try to deal with Chambliss this year. Last year it seemed like nobody knew who he was or how to prepare for him initially, and honestly never really figured it out as the year went on. Every time I watched OM he was just a magician on third down and teams couldn’t get him off the field. Kamario may be the highest upside QB that State has ever had. He’s got first round draft pick potential, no question. The questions for me are can he be precise on the short and intermediate throws (His deep ball is special but can he complete the 8 yard throws on 3rd and 5 reliably?), can he be smart about how he utilizes the run game, and most importantly can State’s OL keep him from running for his life all season? I’m genuinely very excited about Kamario but State has to be drastically improved on both sides of the LOS for it to matter. I think Kamario will put up some highlight reel moments this year, I just hope they’re not in garbage time with State down 2-3 scores like last year’a Egg Bowl.

  20. Kamario and Trinidad are going to be an interesting follow this year. Trinidad showed up and showed out last year when Austin went down. Can he repeat that performance? Defense’s definitely have more tape to study him all offseason, we will see how it goes. Kamario looked like a high upside in the action he saw, I’m interested to see how he’s built on it this offseason. I’d wager we are both happy with QB play this year.
  21. The rivalry has cooled down a lot the last few years, but a lot of that has to do with 1. Kiffin and Leach being on friendly terms and 2. Kiffin absolutely owning State / State’s decline as a program. You’re always one coach away or an improved State away from this thing getting feisty again, lol.
  22. I didnt get what that meant at all
  23. Perhaps they will beat them from start to finish?
  24. No way would MAIS consider that, especially with the multiplier.
  25. I just don’t see this happening the MAIS or MHSAA will not lose money. So I can’t see the MAIS giving up their crazy playoff Powe point system with two champions in each class not to count their eight man teams.
