Not really. Their fan support comes from the band. Hattiesburg played them last yr for senior night. What started out as a packed house turned into a light turnout after seniors were announced and a really really light turnout after halftime was over.
-
I’ve been hearing a lot about them the last few weeks. Hopefully their fan support has improved since the last time I paid Terry any attention

Frey doesn’t stay anywhere very long.

I think Lebby needs 6 wins to keep his seat cool. Pre season talk is chasing the wind. By week 5 Bama could be a winnable game and Mizzou could look like a force to be reckoned with. 3 SEC wins Is the goal, and a Bowl win just for the record: We got a chance to upset one of those titans (looking at you Bama), it may could secure him another 2 years. If we had Arnett and a 2nd team All-SEC DT last year I think we were a 8 win team. So weren’t as terrible as most people think. Just hope we get atleast half of the improvement we showed 2024 to 2025 -
Very good perspective.

The only "for sure" wins on the schedule are UL Monroe and Tennessee Tech. I don't think State is favored in any of the 10 remaining SEC/Power 4 games. In order for State to get to 6 regular season wins, they'll need 4 upsets at minimum. If there ever was a prime example of a head coach being in over his head, this is it. -
Look out for Terry in 6A. They have loaded the wagon. Could make some noise.

wise career choice

The Wayne County newspaper posted an article that he was going back there as an assistant principal.

In all seriousness, I think Kamario Taylor is a great talent that could be a lot of fun if State can keep him standing upright. I’m less confident in State being able to keep him standing upright. I also think State’s schedule is insane. 9 SEC games plus a road game against an 8 win Big 10 team. I think State could win 5 to 7 games. But if you asked me if it’s more likely that they win 8 or that Lebby is fired, would say it’s way more likely that Lebby gets fired. i feel like you will know the drill by Week 4. State is at Minnesota, at South Carolina, Mizzou at home in weeks 2-4. Lebby is toast if he goes 0-3 in that stretch, and he probably needs to be 2-1 in those games considering the next four are Bama-LSU-Oklahoma-Texas all in a row (thanks for that, Birmingham).

Do we have to?

I read where they named a new head coach today, David Frey.

I'm glad you have that optimism. If they could win all 6 of those, I'd be thrilled. -
Nevermind this apparently was an assistant. The article didn't read like that.

State has a good amount of a winnable games. ULM, Minn, SC, Mizzou, Vandy, Auburn. Wouldn’t be surprised if they upset one of the powerhouses. 6 wins would be a good year -
Can Golding win 7 or how about 8? Lebby might win 4 or 5? USM will hope for 3 wins and call it progress.
-
I forgot George county was region 3. They would drop to region 4 before Hattiesburg.

I'm about ready. -
The CWS is over and the book is closed on the 2025-2026 college season. Time to talk about what your team will do this season in football. Ole Miss will be really good MS State better than last season and Southern Miss will be almost back to the Will Hall type season.
-
In region 4 it will be Picayune then some other guys, The intrigue will come from if anyone will challenge Pascagoula for their second place crown. Wayne County will play in Pascagoula in about eight weeks . That scrimmage will have a lot of eyes on it.
-
Oklahoma for the win. When the 64 teams were selected, I don’t think too many people had them on their Bingo Card and certainly not for a trip to Omaha and most certainly not to win the whole shablang!!!! But they did it!!!

Hattiesburg back to region 4 wouldnt be a bad thing. 3 of the top 4 in Class 6a would still be Picayune West Jones and Hattiesburg. Pearl rounding out the top 4.
-
For them to drop, 2 times have to go to 7A. Most likely would be 2 of either south panola, Warren central, Hancock or Grenada. Which if it plays out would send meridian and pearl to north state most likely. If Hancock moves up then Hattiesburg moves back to region 4 and that opens slot for most likely pearl to be in region 3.

"Any given Friday" LOL. There is always that possibility.
