While we on the subject of Petal if you haven't watched their game last Friday if you want to see something being created in real time. Petal had got the edge on everyone they played this season. Most times it looked easy. They got the edge on Meridian, sometimes. The times they didn't though Meridian was putting them on the ground with extreme prejudice . More than once they ran to the edge before that fast RB from Petal could get there and slung him so hard to the ground his body bounced off the ground a little. He was ducking out of bounds before the fourth quarter. Point blank Petal couldn't take the pounding they was putting on them . That wasn't just a loss that was an after school special arse whipping. I said in the other thread last week Petal had not taken an arse whipping. They have now . Meridians defense reminds me of Gulfport's at the end of last season. There is no doubt what they do in practice . They hit and tackle. Each other not tackling dummies, lol. Another offseason with Vance and they will be that much quicker . It's something to watch.

That means potential playoff matchups as follows Ocean Springs @ Brandon St Martin @ OG Meridian @ D'Iberville Petal @ Gulfport Top 2 are pretty much a given Region 3 win although St Martin might make it interesting if OG over looks them. The way Meridian is playing lately it'll take every bit of the D'ville QB's magic to carry them to the next round. Haven't seen Meridian but the D'ville QB is a special athlete and exciting to watch. The Petal vs Gulfport rematch will be the most interesting matchup. Can we see history repeat itself? Petal squeaked out a gutsy win due to far too many Admiral mistakes the first game. Can they travel to Gulfport and do it again? Last year the win over Petal was the first in a string of 40 point wins on the way to the school's first MHSAA state championship.

You can go to MaxPreps to compare and that will give you specific numbers, but it's about half of last year's regarding yardage and TD's. It should pick up some, but it's not going to hit last years numbers.

I will say will all 24 schools have their open date later in the year with the odd numbered regions or will another region say Region 1 6A go odd numbered and give them a chance to keep their open date in like week 4 or 5 as it is now for many. Will these coaches be happy with a South Panola -- Tupelo game being played as non region.

In all fairness this region is weak. WC honestly has way more quality athletes. I don’t mean that to throw off on the others but it’s true and the turnover of athletes is picking up. The thing is he’s winning with the same athletes that others didn’t. He changed the culture and the style of play and the kids bought in

I was really impressed with the way #22 played against Gautier. I know he hasn't played much this year at tailback, but he definitely provides a punch when you need to start going downhill to get a 1st down. I just hope we've got some passes we can throw and complete because right now our passing game is beyond graveyard dead. I don't think we attempted a single pass against Gautier.

Well he's reinvigorated the team, fan base, and community. You can't really put a price on that and it's probably worth more than a win on the scoreboard. He took his lumps early and now you can see the reward of it.

Have you been told specifically about tupelo and oxford staying in region 1 or is this just speculation?

I agree with you about the coach of the year. WC lost to PRC, GC, WJ in the last few seconds by a total of 10 points. So he’s not only a first year head coach with a really young team but he’s a few seconds away from having one loss.
