  2. If the director asked the board to allow him to put 5A-7A into 5 and 7 team regions he can do the same with 4A-1A.
  3. Apparently Manny Diaz or Jake Dickert would take the job.
  4. True about round one. But if the no.2 seed makes it to round 2 of playoffs its a road trip to Picayune.
  5. It's hard to get a read on this game because both teams are going to come in trying to stop what the other one hangs their hat on offensively.. WJ's whole RB room was injured at one time I think and IDK how many of them has gotten back healthy. HHS best strategy on defense might be to just play back and keep the WJ passing game in front of them . If they try to man up and pressure Lindsey by bringing more people he's just going to roll out and throw it up to the rebounders they have playing receiver. A losing strategy for a defense IMO. Lacey is a defensive guy and I suspect he will try to disguise pressure and stop Lindsey from setting up and throwing. Honestly what Hattiesburg is hanging their hat on right now as an offense I'm not familiar with. Whatever it is WJ will almost certainly make them do something else. That's what Pierson does. Slow down the time the QB has to make a decision. So getting production running with something they haven't put on film would go a long way. I've said this before . Scott Pierson is a top five coach in the state . Lacey has been kind of hot and cold since last season so this is a chance for him to elevate his game again. If I had to make a pick I would say WJ just because of Pierson who loves to pick apart the special teams of the other side. Remember that. Teams are pretty evenly matched so it should be close with a turnover or special teams mistake deciding it. They are going to finish 1 and 2 in the region anyway so big picture a loss doesn't set either back . Facing PRC, Gautier or Pascagoula at home in R1 is not a make or break.
  6. Agree I think he's back next year if for no other reason than if he goes KT will go as well. We have improved every year and anyone that watched the first 4 games should see that with a healthy KT this is a 9-10 win team. For the crowd saying he should have recruited a quality back up, who wants to come when you know you are going to be a back up. We had one in Kromenhek and he left because he knew he was never going to start. And for the fire Lebby crowd, who you going to get. We have Lebby because no "name" coaches wanted the job last time.

  8. That's right, there had been so much talk of them moving down I just forgot.
  9. Also bringing Arnett back this year hasn't panned out at all. The defense probably cost us that Oklahoma game and yes you can point to the Puckett fumble and interception, but Oklahoma was able to move the ball pretty much at will.
  10. Purvis has a pretty good size home side. It's really tall.
  11. I was optimistic when he was hired. And I still think his offensive scheme is very good. But the program building has not been a strength for him. State hasn’t recruited well and his staff hires have been iffy at best at many positions. I’m open to being wrong on this but right now it sure feels like Lebby is another classic case of “good coordinator, bad head coach”. Which would be the third time that’s happened for State in the last decade. So maybe next time hire someone with head coaching experience, just a thought. Lebby’s winning percentage is worse than Sly Croom’s. And I would argue that Croom was a superior program builder too.
  12. WC can wrap up the region this week by going 4-0 at Purvis. The first since 2013. I had to look twice at that but it's true. Purvis is one of the few places I've never visited for a game. It will be a goodbye of sorts too as they will be going back down a class. A pat on the back to our defensive staff for shaping the defense up after the non region schedule.
  13. HHS offensive numbers are not eye popping. They did get a little inflated against Jim Hill and Forest Hill. If I had to guess I would say they avg maybe 300yds per game. Also Meridian probably held HHS to less than 100yds after you factor in the QB sacks and tackles for loss.
  14. How much leniency does Lebby deserve? His record is flat out awful and his press conferences aren't any better. Dude is out of his element as a HC.
  15. Round 3 you can see R5-1 vs R7-1 & R6-1 vs R8-1. Other than Pass as 8-1 i am not sure of the others.
  16. According to WLBT report on Pearl moving down to 6A they will learn of the region next week.
  17. The stats on MaxPreps only give the stats for 4 games which is incomplete. For the cumulative stats that it gives it has Ducksworth with 968 yards of passing and has them with 439 yards rushing with McQueen as the leading rusher at 208 yards. I realize that doesn’t paint the picture, but I reckon it’s a snippet.
  18. Does anyone have anything or willing to share anything about Hattiesburg’s offense season stats? Are they balanced, rush heavy? The WJ stats are listed above. Hattiesburg’s stats apparently a state secret.
  19. Well if JDC, Tylertown, and South Pike scored almost 30 on Columbia’s defense last year, im sure Pass could’ve done it too but they didnt! That schedule caught up with them! Im not sleep on them tho they are a good team, i just dont see them getting to State
  20. Last year Columbia defense was one of the best in the state. Very few teams put up points on them. Nobody in south 4A has that type of defense this year. Just don't sleep.
  21. I guess my eyes are just getting opened to this, but how do the 4 regions (5 - 8 ) eliminate each other because there’s like 4 sets of seeds. I know there’s an extra week of playoffs, but it seems like there’s some duplication there that you may not be able to avoid such as having to play multiple teams of the same seed.
  22. Oh i know their offense is really good they were good last year as well! They scored alot last year as well and that schedule finally caught up with them and they only scored 6 against Columbia! I just dont trust them because they havent been battle tested so i think their run ends in the 3rd round against McComb
  23. Pass has a real offense. Do not sleep on Travillion, he is a treat. The knock is gonna be "they haven't played anyone", but they aren't new to the rodeo. I don't know what they are defensively, but offense is good forreal. Do not sleep. Poplarville defense is not so great. You can score against them. You just got to outscore them, which is very hard tbh. McComb, if healthy, can do it but its gonna take a near perfect game by them. The collapse they had down there this year was just crazy. Columbia doesn't have enough this year. Mendenhall no. Richland, not at all. Louisville, yes.
  24. If they do then they have a chance to knock off Poplarville and get to state! A pass heavy team can knock em off!
  25. I have really look forward to your posts each week. Real commentary around the south about football. Reminds me of the old board. I wish we could get that board back now more than ever.
  26. Well you were reading my brainwave LOL. What would happen if Pass beat McComb?
  27. @coastball the whole 4A playoff thing has got me thinking. It feels like with the Pass-Poplarville matchup, it would be a South State matchup. The reason why I say that is because I don’t think two 1 seeds can meet sooner than that. Maybe they can though as I’m not as familiar with the 4A playoffs. I honestly would be curious to know when they would actually meet up against each other.
