Kat so much m more polished and comfortable speaking to the public now. He can go as high as he wants as an administrator. Matter of fact he better. I’m going to stay on him about. He’s a home grown asset for Wayne County.

I get what you are saying man and maybe the thread kind of veer away from the thread title but i think it went in the right direction. If the post season in our state were a half trashy wedding, Tupelo would have been the chubby ring bearer with a flat top mullet haircut from noxapeter. Then after people who would know, said they were recruiting they suddenly get a new position in the hierarchy. It has already resulted in one recent title and almost got another. They got scolded by I really don’t know who up there in Clinton but judging by the team of junior college size players from last year, they are laughing at your reprimand. Gulfport was being mentioned along with Hattiesburg but judging by some people in the Pine belt, Hattiesburg seems to be more brazen. There was some confusion maybe on purpose about what’s allowed or not allowed by the fine people that make those calls. That’s where the threads at. Here is the truth of the matter . There are some of the states especially the bigger schools that are starting to skirt the rules. These schools are contenders. It’s wrong. It’s not fair to the teams kids that they play. It creates an advantage that other teams cannot exploit. Where is the right in any of that ? In my gut, I don’t think there is a governing body in place that is capable of handling this problem.

There is no way a head coach can go into any school 4 weeks before the season and have any success. Just go ahead and play the season with the coaches they have now. You really have to feel bad for the players at this point

Tupelo is eyeing next years portal haul potentials already. They are interested in several current juniors from roughly a 30-40 mile radius of the Tupelo district.

Guys why do yall keep taking the bait? These Hattiesburg people turn every thread into Hattiesburg (aka runner-up) thread. This is Tupelo recruiting and we’re discussing Hattiesburg’s likelihood to be runner up again.

It isnt that they are the cool school to play at now. Who is to say that some of the ones who moved in didnt check out Oak Grove or Petal before coming to Hattiesburg. Oak Grove is pretty much loaded every year and after looking things over he realized he may not be too high on the depth chart. Where as for HHS they only had one legitimate WR returning and he realized he could play right away.

My friend, in house visits happen frequently. All over the state. Heck here on the coast, I can confirm 100% that Gulfport, Biloxi, Ocean Springs, Pascagoula and d'Iberville brought kids who were not enrolled to tour their campus and facilities. AD's and Admin meeting with them as well. It is pretty much out in the open, the problem is nobody wants to report anyone because everyone is pretty much doing it. Very few schools are doing it and the ones who are not, are typically your poorer performing programs.

You are not alone. And it’s getting obvious they feel the heat. Let petal mess around and win one before Hattiesburg it will cause bedlam.

I do find it funny how Hattiesburg is now the cool school to play at in the pine belt and still can’t buy a state title meanwhile Oak Grove is up to 3 now.

I'm not sure I follow what you are saying, Are you guys under the impression that all that needs to happen is for the parents to sign something and the new #11 just trots out to practice ? Or do you mean something different ?

Or parents feel like this school gives their child a better chance to succeed. At the end of the day these parents gotta sign off on everything

They don't have to or need to make an "in house visit". It can all happen over social media now. That's all these kids know now anyway. I'm sure players are talking amongst themselves too, at 7 on 7 or where ever and that's fine. But, for a highly connected booster or coach to directly contact/initiate interest with a potential transfer is just plain wrong to me.

In House is how the transfer rules are plainly explained as to the new mailing address, district lines so they know what area to relocate to. Lots goes down in house.

Absolutely why they were against NIL. Not only that but also against school choice. Some schools, typically smaller ones, are getting kids from other small school programs with just a hope of winning title. And some people are making money off it. If suddenly school choice is a thing it will devastate most small school programs in this state. Including some that are right now able to line a few people’s pockets.

In what way do you think players are being recruited to leave? Are they going to these 7 vs 7 camps and players are asking players to leave their school and join them or maybe the coaches are doing that as well? I just cant see a high school coach recruiting a kid they way college coaches do and go make an "in house visit" and try to sell his program to him telling him why he needs to be there.

And that's fine. I'm just a firm believer in the game rewarding you when you go about playing it the right way. Just look at Poplarville from two years ago for example. I think winning a state title is a whole lot sweeter when you do it in house with home grown folks who are intertwined within the community. That's proof that old-fashioned hard work pays off.

As long as the system remains, things will never change. High school athletics being run by a private organization with zero oversight under the control of a handful of former ADs and coaches while pulling massive paydays. The fought hard against NIL because they couldn't get a cut. It's all about their bottom line.

Gone are the days when you would see old folks sitting around the local coffee shop discussing the game on Friday morning or what happened after the game on Saturday morning.
