Then you do it when you are up 28-0, not 56-0. And if you are beating a team 56-0 in the 2nd quarter, you aren’t learning anything about your onside kick team that you would if you did against JV in practice. The coach and the team weren’t trying to “practice” their onside kick. They were intentionally trying to run up the score. Anyone who tries to justify it is wasting their breath. Their is zero justification

When’s the best time to practice an onside kick against live competition other than practice when they know it’s coming? Sounds to me like had the other team recovered they would’ve had better field position than they normally did. In the words of Bill Parcells-“Do I have to coach the other team too?”

Just my opinion but I am beginning to think some schools up north turned in lower numbers hoping to push Noxabee and others south to give themselves a better chance at making it to Stare next year.I AM not sure its going to work but we will see.

There is ZERO justification for kicking onside kicks and purposely trying to run up the score when you are already up 50 points. There is no justification. One of the biggest problems right now with youth sports and high school sports are coaches with egos who disregard sportsmanship. You can blow a team out and still do it with good sportsmanship. For a first offense, the coach should be warned. After that, send them packing if they do it again.

Yeah I’m with you on this. There’s a dangerous assumption being pushed right now that if you sit him for LSU it automatically means he’s good to go for OU. Turf toe is tough to shake. This could limit his mobility the rest of the season even if he never misses a game. Or it could cause him to miss multiple games.

Heck, maybe the opposing HC had fired this HC at a previous stop. It could be anything really but one thing is certain that folks are soft and complain.

Businesses make decisions every say. Some bad some good some right some wrong according to whom you speak with. If you make rules years ago you should have been going by tge rules every 2 years during reclassification. So I do wonder if St Andrew's, St Patrick, Sacred Heart, TCPS, among others not named St Stanislaus or OLA were never being multiplied by 1.5. Those 2 should be mad if they were being doubled. Maybe the multiplier should be the same is the reason the lawyers said let's wait and study the case. And Booneville will be mad at PCS if they both get stuck in 3A or 4A together.

It would be prudent to hear this coach's side of the story. Maybe he wanted to practice his kickoff team on executing and recovering an onside kick for bigger games that come later. Who knows. If so, he probably should have done it at 14-0 or 21-0. Wouldn't have looked so bad and he had to know very early in this game it was going to be a blowout. It's also possible that a special teams coach called it on his own, and the head coach didn't know it was coming. But as others stated above, if this was his very 1st offense of bad sportsmanship, this firing was not justified.
