My only issue goes back to the point of its hard to win football games without running the football. That element would have elevated OT play in my opinion. Great point and as the temperature drops that ole pigskin gets slick and harder to catch, but I will say Gautier was impressive. When someone scores 48 on you its hard to say they played good defense but they made the Maroon Tide work hard for every yard. Yes it definitely didn't make any sense there, but Picayune did what they had to do to get the stop first on defense then capitalize when it was their turn with the football. Gautier played a great game though and I'm glad Picayune got a test like this in before the regular season ended. If you don't face an offense like Gautier has week in and week out, it can be difficult to prepare for, but Picayune made the plays when they needed to and got the stop that they needed to put the game away albeit outside of regulation. Tiburon Posted November 4, 2022 Share Posted November 4, 2022 hey it all worked out in ot. but i wanted us to go for 2 in regulation. stopping gautier from driving the length of the field is hard enough...i didnt want to have to stop them 1first and goal from the 10 in ot with the game on the line (but we rose up and did) after our last regulation score near the end, on our pat attempt, they jumped offside then jumped offsides again. so that would be half the distance twice. (declined) we would of scored - gautier defense had run out of gas at the end as you could see on that last regulation drive and with us running for the 10 yard td on 1st play in overtime. also our special teams have blocked kicks this year and shown they get a good push. several near blocks as well. last night they never even tried to get a gautier pat...why not? that could have won the game and it surprised me we never tried. gautier kicker looked pretty good.
