I got Shannon traveling to Clarksdale in the second round and i think they will get beat in a hard fought game.  It's hard to win in Clarksdale...

it hard to win at Clarksdale I think Shannon will pull that out I member last year Louisville pull that game out in a tight game you gotta beat them refs over at Clarksdale, Louisville might play 2nd rd against Ripley or Houston if New Albany pull a upset on Houston that gonna be tough to do, Houston is a very physical team

Obviously Brandon and Oak Grove will usually be a tough out for anyone. That's nothing to be ashamed of, since they are usually top 4 or 5 in the state pretty regularly. OS went toe to toe with what everyone bragged was a good OG team last season. If or when they play this season, I'd guess it will be another great game but it won't be a blow out against OG or Brandon. OS is absolutely on their level as they showed last season, leading at the half and losing in a close game. However, to say Hattiesburg or Clinton has improved as if OS hasn't in 8 weeks is silly. Both teams have had two years to beat the Hounds. Clinton had a good effort last season but Hattiesburg is not in their league this year, last year or any year in recent history. OS and D'VILLE have dominated Hattiesburg for a decade or more. The top 4 teams in Region 3 along with Picayune are the only teams beating the top two teams in Region 4 year after year. Hattiesburg is NOT on that list.  Region 3 top four are usually strong teams and while it's frustrating, that doesn't make the top two region 4 teams bad. I think every Region 3 fan would agree, Region 4 is just losing to really good teams. You can't brag how strong the region is and then say the teams that lose to them by one score in a playoff game is weak. Good luck to the Hounds and I'm looking forward to another strong showing. First up.....Gulfport!

I said Hattiesburg and Clinton would be a more difficult game than the first one because of better competition played since you played them. I would expect OS to win again.

No way would OS would be undefeated if y’all played Brandon’s or OG’s schedule this year.

Could OS beat OG this year? IMO yes either team could win. Is OG better prepared for that game? No doubt about it.

Could OS beat Brandon this year?  IMO highly unlikely because of the same.

My point was and is that no fault of their own for OS the competition in 6A Region 4 does not prepare a really good team like OS for what’s about to come. Hey, maybe OS is just that good. Time will tell…

I think that we might have had this same conversation last year bout this time, and again, as an Ocean Springs fan I’ve got to agree with you. I do wish, hope that we continue to upgrade our early season schedule, especially with the addition two games dropped from the district schedule. This O.S. team does seem to be getting better as the season progresses, and might well be ready to take the next step by beating whoever the hell comes out of district 3. Would it kill you guys to figure out which one of those four teams we’re going to see?

I’d say you are more likely to play Brandon than OG first. There are 2 more games to go before it’s decided but that’s where I am. I don’t think y’all will have any trouble with Gulfport.

Okay, but if we’re #1, we would play your #4, which kind of looks to be NW Rankin. While they are one of the four tied at the top now, they do seem to be the weakest link. At this point, we’ll take anybody seriously, but the second round is the real challenge. This Gulfport game actually has me nervous.

My predictions for deepest runs in the north that’ll advance to state championship:

1A McEvans(Biggersville will be hardest challenge. Could also see McEvans/Simmons rematch but IMO McEvans is the best of the 3) 30-26 McEvans

2A Baldwyn(Eupora will be hardest challenge. Leflore County will be hard too but I think Eupora has been more battle tested) 26-22 Baldwyn

3A Amory(Winona will be hardest challenge) 28-21 Amory

4A Louisville(IAHS will be hardest challenge but this is hardest north class IMO with solid teams like Houston and West Lauderdale as well) 27-24 Louisville

5A West Point(Vicksburg will be hardest challenge) 28-20 West Point

6A Tupelo(couple teams if Tupelo has an off night) I’ll go with Tupelo 26-16 against Southaven toughest playoff outcome

I’m a north guy but going to give the south a shot so don’t stone me if they don’t look good. Mostly going chalk anyways:

1A Bay Springs(Taylorsville hardest challenge) Bay Springs 28-14

2A Scott Central (skates through like a Canadian kid)

3A Hazlehurst (Going with a shocker here. Loses to Raleigh in regular season but pulls an upset in playoffs) 21-20 Hazlehurst

4A Poplarville (Columbia Rematch) Poplarville 28-27

5A Picayune(breezes through like a nice fall crisp breeze)

6A Oak Grove(wins rematch against Warren Central) Oak Grove 31-30

I got Louisville playing Ripley in the 2nd round at LHS.  I got Louisville playing Clarksdale at LHS in the third round.

Top Half of north:  I got IAHS playing Senatobia at IAHS in the second round. Houston playing WLHS second round.  IAHS playing West Lauderdale at WLHS in the 3rd round.  but....  Houston may get them....

Hazlehurst has to get by JDC in that scenario.
