Picayune vs. D’Iberville

Let’s get this thread started.  What’s the predictions for this game?

I was very impressed with the way Picayune played last night.  Gulfport was a big and tough football team and we were able to get a win against them.  I feel like we played probably the most complete game so far this season.  We still have plenty of things that we need to clean up.  Our receivers can definitely play better and I think they will.  D’Iberville always shows up ready to play and we better not overlook them.  This should be a good ballgame to see, but I think Picayune will prevail in this one.

I’ve actually been impressed with d’Iberville, even with the two close losses these last games. Wasn’t expecting much with the loss of so many starters and a rookie head coach, but they seem to be moving the ball on offense with the run as usual. What’s not so good is giving up so many points on defense and that great Tide running game coming up. The Warriors put it on them pretty good last year, but I can’t see that happening again. I’d say Picayune by three touchdowns.

Love my Warriors but not having any returners on defense is starting to show. All new names on Offense and still putting up yards and points but defense has to improve and Picayune isn’t exactly the team you want on the schedule that’s going to make you feel better about your run defense! Warriors needed these tough non district games to see what they have with all of the new names and faces for sure. Picayune’s strength will play against what looks like Dville’s weakness but hopefully this will be a another barn burner like the last two weeks and then we get into the games that matter! Good luck! Go Warriors!

Yeah, that’s a tough early schedule, even with a 5A and a 3A school, both at the top of their division. But the Tide is a different animal for kids starting their first few games. Then, I wonder how the Coast shakes out, with Harrison Central playing well, and Gulfport in the mix. d’Iberville against my Greyhounds isn’t a lock, but I’ve got to assume that most of this is for second place. At some point, those young Warriors will grow up, and it might be this season. Good luck with everything.

This may be an odd take, but I’m glad we lost to D’Iberville last year.  It was part of the equation to get us to where we needed to be.  Looking back on things, it didn’t really hurt us but instead it probably reenergized our focus.  Also I don’t think Picayune needs to get revenge.  I know losses are no fun, but when you go back and look at the whole picture it turned out to be a good thing.  As long as we go out there and improve upon our performance from last week, we’ll have nothing to worry about and this time next week we will be sitting at 4-0.

I’m taking the Yune in a 35-14 type game. Picayune front 7 will be good enough to stop the run so the DBs can stay back and look for play action pass.

I hope you're wrong. I think Picayune will move the ball on d'ville but Warriors have been putting up points against some big fast defenses. Picayune will no doubt be another strong opponent before district play kicks off! Good luck! Go Warriors!

Ha Wouldn’t be the first time I’m wrong but that Picayune defense is no joke.

Matt I certainly don't take any offense to your post.  You're a D'Ibervile fan and you want your Warriors to win and there's no shame in that.  Do you remember how explosive Picayune's offense was in 2019?  Imagine that same explosiveness on the opposite side of the football.  That is what D'Iberville's offense will be up against tonight.  If you are making the drive to Picayune this evening have safe travels.

No offense intended for sure! I love that these two teams continue to play each other even though they are in different classifications. Iron sharpens iron! I just know that Stanislaus and Laurel had some of the biggest d-linemen we have faced in a long time! I didn't watch JDC and live stream was grainy video so couldn't tell their size but surely fast. Stanislaus and Laurel were impressive to look at for sure! I'm talking 6'3"-6'8" guys from 300-400lbs.....Some maybe too large for sure on Laurel but man they were huge!!

I just hope my Warriors can make a game of it with this being projected as a "unknown year" after graduating all starters but one on both sides of the ball. Only returner being the QB. Can't make the game but will be watching on d'ville FB live on their Booster Club's FB page for those who want to tune in. Warning! It is understandably biased commentary only! Love it!

Good luck to both teams! Stay healthy for district! Go Warriors!

Glad to see us steadily improve.  We keep looking a little bit better each week. That 98 yard touchdown run by Dowdell was ESPN top 10 highlight worthy.  It was also good to see Morgan kicking touchbacks on kickoffs.  We may start to have a Trey Lunsford 2.0 on our hands.

Great game by the Tide! Dowdell is a beast and defense definitely is as advertised! No doubt gonna be another great season for Picayune for sure! Warriors take it on the chin like most teams will against this Picayune team but next week starts the season! Good luck to the Tide! Go Warriors!
