what about college prospects on this Sumrall squad?

they have 16 seniors. 6 of them are going to play JUCO ball. Its just a team who has pretty much been playing together for the last 6yrs. Everyone played on the same travel ball team since they were 11-12 year olds.

It seems to be a pattern with Sumrall baseball to get national exposer. Its also hard to understand the level of competition they might be seeing in their schedule. I wish these rankings would have a strength of schedule or something along those lines. I dont feel like they would continue to compete at a high level if they played the above average teams week in and week out

Strength of schedule is so subjective it would impossible to have a nationwide strength of schedule

Sumrall players always are a bust in college.

You sure about that? Connor Barron and Luke Lowery had were pretty dang good at Southern Miss. Kros Sivley has done very well as a middle reliever this season and he is a redshirt freshman at So miss. Austin Knight played very well in his time at Ole Miss and is now the 1st base coach at East Carolina.

Sumrall plays a very very good non district schedule. They play host every year to a very big tournament called the Adidas Rex classic where teams from all over the state have played in it before. Including teams like Madison Central MRA Jackson Academy and Jackson Prep. They also play Brandon Petal Oak Grove and Northwest Rankin in non district games. They are playing Purvis in game 3 of the 4a south state title tonight. Purvis is in their district. Both teams records are like 28-6. I am going to check that game out. They are expecting about 2000 or more at the game. I may snap a photo of the crowd and post it. 2,000 at a high school game is nuts

I remember the good ole days of playing OG in the state championship. I dont think there was 2k people there but that atmosphere was exciting. Very fun times for high school baseball

Surely you meant only 5 of them played on the same travel ball team. I'm sure they didn't violate the MHSAA policy.

If your high school team plays summer ball and the team is called  something like The Pine Belt Express, thats not a violation of MHSAA policy if none of their coaches are coaching. If your high school team decides to play summer ball while school is out of session its no big deal. It is the same as high school kids playing summer league basketball against each other.

Not talking about summer ball. You are correct if we're talking summer ball. If they play travel ball they likely play year round and that is a violation if over the number

Over the number of what? Year round? Counting their high school season and travel ball during the summer, that 7 months. Basically a MLB season. Travel ball among High school kids is over by August. A lot of kids also play football so they end their travel ball season
