Strayhorn increases with Coldwater closure

Someone takes Wingfield spot due to closure

*East Union will be 3A if director leaves 41 in 3A

**3 schools are tied at 155 and I left Taylorsville in 1A because may have lost students according to another post.

Many students are transient and we won't have any clue how these numbers shake out until fall. Overall public school enrollment is dropping across the state though a few places may move up or down that are right at the cutoff point. Wingfield is a known closure by fall but there could be others.

Strayhorn honestly should have been reexamined after the Coldwater closure, or have another school get moved to give 4 teams in that football district, or both. Being a North Mississippian, I can say East Union is finally beginning to see some larger increases that may push them to 3A. Especially with the lower classes, an unusually large or smaller group can make the difference in where a school lands.

I would say the numbers are pretty accurate to what will be turned in during the fall. You could set the bar around +/- 10-15 and be in the ball park in most cases.

Are you going to do one with 5-7A?

No too many middle schools in cities like Jackson that you don't know where all the students go after 8th grade. And the fact that both middle schools that feed Wingfield are closing as well.

There is a link on JPS website that shows you what middle schools feed to which high school.

I am aware of the link but it is not updated for the closing of Wingfield as of 2 weeks ago. I am aware that Wingfield students will be attending both Forest Hill and Jim Hill. Both are much larger than 4A. Lanier is the small school left in Jackson as a 4A.

Union is currently in 2A.

East Union is moving up as #41 in 3A. Currently 41 schools in 3A. Assuming it stays 41. Not Union they will probably move back south. I have Leake County moving up, Kemper County moving down. I believe either Kemper or Union will be in North/South Regions 4/5.
