Hightide
It's been awhile since these teams have played. I remember GC having a good program years ago. I'm looking forward to a good game Friday night. Roll Tide
David
George Cty. has some very good skill position players, should put up some points. The question is, can they stop the power rush game of Picayune? I’m not sure they can, but will go with the upset, which will change the balance of power in the south. Tiburon
GC has lost to a couple of good 6a schools and a very much improved wayne county. they are undefeated in games that matter (region play) and this game is at their house. so, i hope to win, but i can't just go by record and am not sure a GC win here would be an upset. this game will be a real test for us and has big implications for the region championship. Hightide
I see this game as a huge test. I think we are going to have to mix it up with our backfield more in this game, I like how no. 6 runs the ball if he gets a little space he is gone. No.2 is a good back but I think we are going to need that 1 2 punch if we want to win these games from here on out. Last weeks game was over in the first quarter, we were making holes that a truck could drive through. I realy don't like playing cup cakes before a big game but at least we are healthy. Picayune RTR
Looking forward to this game Friday night 2 really good teams play I remember years ago when we played them it was always a really good and close game and I'm looking for that on Friday night and as long as we can keep spreading the ball out to different players we should do fine and our Defense needs to stiffen up a little more and be more aggressive than we were last week against a cup cake team we can't let them run on us like West Harrison did last Friday or we will be in trouble....But like I said we are looking at a really good game coming on Friday night ROLL TIDE ROLL! Hightide
This game will have a playoff atmosphere the winner will be in the drivers seat to get the no.1 seed for the playoffs and win the division.
Picayune RTR
We better be ready to play and Defense better have its best performance of the year and make the stops we need and Offense needs to spread it out and run around the ends cause ain't going to get nothing going up the middle with a loaded up box but should be a really good game ....ROLL TIDE ROLL! slicklizard
You can't let the George County QB stand in the pocket or he will pick the defense apart. Quick pressure from a different place every time. He's got a lot of weapons and if they get the ball Picayune will be trying to answer scores all night . That's the game to me because Picayune will run the ball on George ,

The only spread offense we played this year was Gulfport and we put the pressure on their QB and we actually won that game with our defense. We got a young secondary that's better than we are use to seeing.
VancleaveDogs
Seen both teams, we played them both, Picayune did not stop our offense and that may present a problem, George is really skilled and their running back maybe the best in the district. Both defenses are so-so, could be a high scoring game
TK_on_the_Coast
I've seen both teams play this season as well, I think the difference in the matchup will be Picayune's depth of offensive skill-position players. I'll take the Tide by 8, 38-30.

CrimsonUnit1988
6 minutes ago, Tiburon said: yes we do Lol exactly my point. Everyone knows Picayune uses multiple RBs. When the argument of "more depth" at skill spots starts it's just weird to have that argument when these two teams are totally different offensively. Realistically, they have the same amount of depth but Picayune uses them in different ways. GC can roll out 5 WRs on any given play and Picayune will roll out 1-2 depending on formation. Basically, one team uses their depth at one spot (for the most part) while the other teams tries to get multiple good skill guys on the field at one time. That's fair - I could've been more specific My point was in the game I watched them play they had multiple running backs all with different assets in the running game that all contributed on a big offensive nite for them - yes it's mostly a ground attack, as has always been the case, but they have 3-4 backs that can all break the big play and each have unique intangibles that contribute to their offense

I guess my point was that GC and Picayune has comparable depth but they use it differently. GC tends to try utilize them all at once while Picayune will roll out their most important skill position one at a time. Should be a great game. I absolutely agree - your point is a fair statement - it should be an instant classic I'm taking Picayune by one score but won't be shocked if GC pulls it out - it's really a toss up Edited October 22, 2021 by TK_on_the_Coast
TK_on_the_Coast
@CrimsonUnit1988 your RB #22 Howell runs very hard downhill and I could see him having success if he gets a hot hand and gets a run of carries - I was impressed watching him vs Vancleave - he gashed us for several big gainers including a long score
CrimsonUnit1988
Good game Picayune. GC QB went down on first series. Took a shot to the knee. Freshman QB came and played well in his place. Picayune RB is a great player.
Hightide
I wouldn't have thought we would of had over 500 yards rushing and score 59 points tonight. We looked like a fine tuned machine on offense and we are getting better every game.

Hightide
I think George County will beat East Central next week and wish the best for the GC QB that suffered a leg injury.

Tiburon
i was very happy with our running game tonight. we used several backs and we were never really stopped. gc played hard and while i thought our def played hard all night i know this would have been a nailbiter if gc qb did not get hurt early. freshman qb played well you can see the talent but he was a bit overmatched. he will be a good one. i understand why we never passed tonight but we will have to come playoffs. we played a good game tonight. nice game, Rebels. Yeah obviously was gonna be tough to stop Dowdell. He played possessed. Really thought GC could match score for score but game plan obviously changed when the starting QB goes down on first series. Unfortunate but I thought the guys played through it. Had a few freshman on the field including the QB. Future is bright. Picayune has a great team and seems, to me, to have played their best game all season.
