David
Well, I was wrong. I thought Ocean Springs would have trouble stopping the power running game of D’Iberville, but they held them to one, one! first down in the first half, and never punted in the game. 42-14, and it wasn’t that close. Coach Pennick captures his signature win in his career, and sets the Hounds up for a great season. Now, Harrison Central and Gulfport are over there wondering why nobody’s talking about them. It’s coming soon. Edited October 2, 2021 by David
Archer
I watched the Pascagoula/Harrison Central replay and was completely unimpressed with HC. They’ll be fodder for good teams. Tonight Gulfport looked slightly better than HC but Pascagoula moved the ball well throughout the game (but red zone woes stalled drives) and OS and d’Iberville will emasculate them. slicklizard
I figured Diberville would put up more of a fight. Ocean Springs played grown man football at the line of scrimmage

O.S. will have to load up the defense up front because they aren’t that big or physical. that was part of it and part of it was us running one guy every single play. we earned that loss more than dville earned that win. Yeah, I don’t want to jinx my Hounds, but I’m thinking that only Gulfport is the competition right now. Still, only takes one bad game to get upset and knocked down. I was completely surprised at the simple offense the Warriors ran, and with all due respect, O.S.’s Pennick thoroughly outcoached his counterparts. d’Iberville jumped offsides at least seven or eight times on short yardage plays. But, I’ll not be negative. Give the Hounds all the credit. Now, on to rival Biloxi Thursday night.
Dubaction
Diberville has always had a simple offense in my opinion. They couldn’t afford to let the game get out of hand they aren’t built for that.

Matt
Hopefully d'ville got a wake up call. All excuses aside, penalties, turnovers, homecoming blah blah blah....Warriors were absolutely dominated all night by the Greyhounds! OS is for real and even though both teams are like 15-2 in their last 17 games, 1 loss to each other and the other loss to a common opponent being NW Rankin last year in the playoffs, first round (OS) and second round (dville), one thing is for sure, OS was the better team Friday night and may not lose a game this season until late in playoffs if they stay healthy! Balanced offense for sure but defense was the most surprising, shutting down the Warrior offense better than anyone has in two years. Even in the loss to NW Rankin, last season in 2nd round, dville offense was very good. Kudos to OS and good luck the rest of the way! Hopefully the two teams meet again in the playoffs or maybe hopefully not! Having said all of that, I may be wrong but I don't think anyone in Region 4, 6A will batter the d'ville defense with that kind of balance, the rest of the way. Hopefully Warriors go back to work and forget that ever happened. Go Warriors!

I’m not sure what happened Friday night, but it wasn’t what I was expecting either. I did know that O.S. could move the ball on anybody so far, but that defensive effort came out of the blue. Don’t have to tell you, but those penalties and turnovers were killers, and Dolan has to figure out how to pass the ball at least some when defenses pack it in. That said, I think the Warriors turn it around and finish second in district. Beating Goula is a good first step. I know that I’d like to see em get after Gulfport and Harrison Central for my team’s sake. Good luck going forward.

Tiburon
i hear you. its been a minute but you shoulda seen them way back when Reggie Collier was QB. not a lot of handing off the ball that year for sure.

Reggie Collier and his bunch against Eddie Hornback and Ocean Springs! That’s when the rivalry started, in the Shrimp Bowl. Coaches Buddy Singleton vs. Hugh Pepper in the late ‘70s. One of the greatest high school atmospheres and greatest games ever, except for the final score that is. That’s one reason why this fan enjoyed this year’s game even more. Tiburon
i was at that shrimp bowl. thought the os bleachers on visitor side would collapse on us. some fools burned a big OS on their 50 the night before smh Eddie was recruited to Bama by Bear Bryant but later ended up at notre dame and then ms state. Yep, I was there too, on the O.S. side yelling a fool. Not proud of that vandalism. I know Eddie pretty well, and he was one of the best from our town. I was actually more proud of him for switching to a hybrid D end at State, and playing pretty tough for an ex QB. Coaches and trains athletes in Missouri these days. Looking back, I have to say that Coach Pepper should have used the run much more in that game. People in those two towns to this day ask each other about that game. Just make assessments. We all have opinions and that's great. It doesn't make us right or wrong. But as long as we put in a way everyone maintains there ears is can be helpful. A couple of things that we all need to keep in mind, on here and in the stands: these are high school kids that were talking about, and it’s all in fun for us and, hopefully, for those teenagers learning to play a game and in the meantime learning life lessons. Gotta respect even your rivals. That said, I’ll talk some trash to some folks who can take it and give it right back. If we’re not having fun, we ain’t doing it right. Join in when you want to.
