I meant they could win a football overall, as well as beat the #1 public school. If there was an MAIS football overall. That was a hypothetical that was worded very poorly. oldschool84
OG got caught up in the athlete battle instead of playing OG football. The way you beat a team like GCS is make them play discipline football for 4 quarters. At one point their DEs started running up the field. That when a heavy dose of off tackle counters and powers should have been used. Edited September 20, 2021 by oldschool84
Hubcityballfan
OG will be fine. GCS is a great HS football team and good luck to them after this season, because honestly from what I saw they don't need luck this season. Moving forward past this season, OG will have the pieces and coaching along with the support of the school district and community to continue into the future and continue to be great. GCS's future is a little more uncertain. While I am glad that their players are getting to play this season, with so many seniors and so little numbers returning, will they have a future team at all. I sure hope so for those previous 2020 GCS students. I saw first hand last Friday a school that was very good on the field, but the logistics that go into running a program adequately were lacking significantly. I admit I had no idea that GCS actually even existed as a school until just a few months ago. To me the school rebuilding their team for next season and more importantly rebuilding any relationship with their loyal supporters before the previous football team will be a balancing act that seems difficult from the outside looking in.

And I fully expect both teams to carry out their goals this season.

Nobody was complaining when MRA was getting kids left and right or when JA was getting kids. Just because it’s not a “name brand” private school doesn’t mean they’re doing anything other schools haven’t done. There's a lot to unpack here - - 1. What GCS and its booster/boosters are doing is very different than what MRA, JA and Prep have done and are doing. Athletically, GCS has brought in an entire team of players to compete. Boosters at MRA, JA and Prep have pooled resources to pay for tuition for athletes that supplement their existing rosters at positions of need. There is a fundamental difference between JA having one or two sponsored athletes at WR and RB and GCS having an entire roster of them. 2. The GCS kids are not actually attending school. They are taking online classes. A bus runs across the Delta to pick them up for football practice and then takes them home. There is virtually no academic component to what is occurring at GCS. 3. What GCS and its booster/boosters are doing clearly violates the MAIS bylaws. This remains true no matter whether the MAIS investigates or not. Considering MRA's history with recruiting violations, and that Blanton is in charge of the MAIS, I wouldn't hold my breath. 4. I don't fault the kids at GCS. They wanted to play and have found a place to play. But GCS is much closer to Bishop Sycamore than it is to MRA, Prep or JA.

Is the entire GCS doing remote learning or just the players?

There is nothing that suggests that the school has gone remote. Personally I believe that that is a public school problem.
