I really don't think you have to do something with 1A if your going to have 15 or so non football schools. 3 team regions in football will not work long term with 8 game schedules because once you play 5 teams from region 1-2A in football then you get into playing 3A/4A schools or travel 3 hours for a non region game against Simmons or Noxapater to avoid 3A/4A schools.

Myrtle is claiming their number right now is 140.  Hamilton is 136. I know both these tallies  would have been in 1A two years ago. My deal is, do we have enough 1A teams to move up to 2A to facilitate  this?  I have the same issue with all the 4A folks who say they are dropping to 3A. I still se no way that Louisville, Rosa Fort, Ripley, Amory and Mooreville can all drop down from 4A to 3A. I think the cutoff numbers will be adjusted.  Am I incorrect here?

Without the multiplier that 4A dropping to 3A is minimum or normal now. I f some of the Jackson area MAIS schools come over to MHSAA that may change or be true.

I really think people need to check the numbers that Heidelberg turns in. There is no way that school is that close to 1A numbers.

They had a very small class like 38. For some reason either Ai or US World News has it at 198 which is a large increase. So either some failed the 11th, promoted from 8th to the 9th, or recruiting away from say Quitman,  NE Jones, or Wayne County(Beat Four), etc just saying. Sometimes kids gravitate toward a winner.

With the exclusion of the multiplier are we expecting these numbers to stay pretty close to where they were?

We are hearing lower numbers were turned in by some schools and others turned in higher numbers. I was looking at higher split on 4A/3A and 3A/2A with the multiplier.

It's still a crap shoot as to where these cutoff lines end up.  I suspect they have a good idea but won't reveal anything one way or the other until at least the first week of November.

Waiting on MDE to variafy before emailing the list to the committee and schools.

Yes, they have them and are basically waiting on the oct 15 meeting and then the nov 4 meeting. Some basically know which region and class, etc already but are waiting for it to be made official.  I assume things will be revealed soon after this time.

There is a few maybe 5 that could go up and 5 that can go down. A few that could be in one region or another. In the past Raleigh has been in 3A Region 5 for years, then changed to Region 8 and have been in Region 6 the last 20 years or so.

Those are department of education meetings not MHSAA meetings. We can assume those will be soon scheduled after MDE approves the numbers. I don't know if those numbers have to be approved at a meeting or they can simply approved and returned to MHSAA.

They do allow a period to where lets say a school could dispute which region they are placed in ETC. Some of this si the period from the Oct 15 meeting to the Nov 4 meeting.

About 7 to 10 days as I remember in the past. Here is what complicates that this year:

September 21st turn numbers in

September 28th last day to correct numbers

We wait on MDE variafication of numbers

October 5th many schools on fall break

October 12th other schools on fall break

I think the schools were given a week to basically correct their numbers without protesting the numbers then go on fall break and not worry about it. So hopefully the only protest should be on regions. I think most schools are basically be in the same class same region. There will be a few go north or south that won't like it. There will be a few that won't like the region but will look at it like this is an easier region to win or this is a harder region but a hard schedule makes you better for the playoffs.  I will not be surprised if they try to separate some of the schools in Region 4-3A and Region 6-3A to give others an opportunity for making the playoffs the next 2 years like say an Aberdeen or McLaurin. Sending Winona to Region 3 or JDC/Seminary to region 8 for example. I do believe they know their classes but not sure about the Regions just yet. However when you insert numbers into a computer it can spit that list out relatively quick. Hopefully it can separate by region and the director can correct or adjust regions as he sees fit. Then they do know what region they are in by now with instructions to not leak. Not leaking is hard enough because all coaches want to know for the sport they coach. Wait and see mode.

So do you think there will be as much movement as we initially thought or less now that the multiplier isn't being applied? I'm still intrigued to see what the baseling numbers are with so many schools reporting being down in numbers.
